I got a chance to try this camera Canon EOS-1D X Mark II, and it's amazing, i shot a 4K 60P footage and printed one of the frames on an A3 glossy paper, and the picture looked excellent, specially when keeping in mind that it was taken from a 4K footage.
+The Film Poets you need to understand video Aspect ratio is 16:9 while still aspect ratio is 3:2. The camera uses to full length of the sensor but the height has to be cropped.
+krishnan srinivasan - There has not been any indication that the new LP-E19 battery for the 1DX MK II will work in the previous 1Dx. With Canon in most all instances anytime a new camera comes with a new unique battery model, the new battery models are not retro-compatible with previous model cameras. Hopefully in the future Canon will release more information on this and we can more accurately comment. As for now I wouldn't plan on it. - Yossi
I think they nailed it this time around. Canon, lets make touch screen a standard feature in all cameras. And yes for a budget of this camera you really gonna shoot with external monitor, but for the low end, please put tilt screens there!
+JCNOAOU - I cannot speak for Canon on their descisions to include/exclude features on any particular cameras. My guess on the lack of a touchscreen on the 7D MK II is to keep the cost down, as for the wireless file transmitter comment goes, the WFT for the 1DX MK II is an external transmitter devices (Canon # WFT-E8A ). The 7D MK II is compatible with the previous Canon WFT-E7A version II) so they do offer the same option for the 7D MK II in that respect. - Yossi
+B and H touchscreen wasn't to keep the cost down. both the 70d and the much cheaper 750d have it. my guess is it was because they didnt want it competing with there c100 mk2 in autofocus. it's shame that they did that
+Zong Ye Quek - Unfortunately Canon has not published this information. Its a spec they typically do not publish, at least not right away when a camera is announced. Typically sites like DxO will test and publish that information once the camera has been released and is available for testing. - Yossi
Seriously considering getting this later this year...skipping meals, saving dosh..I am hoping that it will be as good as it seems to show.prints will be poster size so I hope that there is enough resolution.
+Muan Thang Ngaihte - The 5D III does not shoot RAW video natively. Unfortunately, I really wouldn’t be able to speak to the difference in the video between a hacked 5D III and the 1DX II. *Christina* AskPhoto@bhphoto.com
Cool vid. I was wondering if you could help me. I'm looking for a camera that has 30mp or more, HD video recording with slow motion capture along with a minimum of 20mins recording time per session. 10 or more FPS. Dual high capacity transfer rated memory card slots. A high buffer capacity to assist with FPS and a swivel / tilt LCD touchscreen. Any ideas?
Unfortunately, I don’t know of any camera on the market that would meet those specifications. For the most part, any camera that has 30+ MP sensor will have a burst rate much slower than 10 fps. If you don’t mind looking at a camera with a lower resolution sensor, the D500 could be an option. It has a max burst rate of 10 fps, has both an XQD and SD memory card slot, shoots full HD and 4K video (and full HD at 60p), and has a 3.2" 2,539k-Dot Tilting Touchscreen LCD. *Christina* AskUA-cam@bhphoto.com bhpho.to/1mScSIu
Great Thanks! So basically I would only be sacrificing high pixels which I only wanted for cropping instances. Either case I really appreciate the help and quick reply!!!
+Arthur X - Currently Canon anticipates them to start shipping out sometime in April of 2016 but they have not indicated any specific date as of yet. Once they do we will update the product link for the camera on our website. - Yossi
I'm assuming the upcoming 5D Mark IV will have internal 4k as well? You'd think so. It's about time. As not every one wants to or needs to carry a 1Dx body.
Kinda late, but it can record 4K for 30 minutes (same as Full HD) it won't go any higher cause then the camera would be classified as a camcorder by European law, and subject to heavy taxes.
Call me a camera noob if you want, but I keep seeing strange info I don't quite understand when I look up the 4k resolution video capabilities in that 4k only shoots in motion JPEGs or MJPEGS. Can that be converted into an .mov style file, or are MJPEGS editable like .movs?
They state that have improved iso performance by a full stop! DXOmark has an iso rating as 2786 for 1dx. This means that this beast should have about 5572. A7s has the highest so far - 3702 (and can shoot in full darkness). This is a camera of my dreams (for photo&video)!! :)
1dx is pretty close to the 70d with 4k and digic 6 instead of 1080p and digic 5. This is why I have been pushing the 70d over the 7d mkii. so close in fact it seems like the 70d may have been a test camera for the 1dx.
At this point, any specs or information about a 5D IV are just rumor and conjecture. Until Canon actually announced a camera, and released specs, we really wouldn’t be able to speculate on the performance. Explain Motion JPEG to me, the previous 1DC's 4K wasn't the greatest, it had a mushy look and this sample footage although downscaled also looks mushy. Whats the benefits of motion jpeg? Why keep that rather than make a new or use a new codec
+Brice Milleson Well for one it is accepted by all editing programs and any video players, while it is a lossy codec it offers one of the highest qualities since each individual frames are an actual photos combined together, it's also widely accepted by video formats and is quite adjusted to the systems. That would be my 3 cents.
It needs less processing power to be encoded. Maybe they wouldn't achieve 4k 60p with mpeg-4/avc. Another advantage is that it allows for intraframe capture, wich leads to better result if the scene changes quickly. But the downside is the lower efficency. For the same quality MJPEG needs a higher data-rate. Indicating that for 4K60p not the memory (card writing speeds) but the processor is the bottleneck. For the manufacturer it's a benefit but I'd say for the consumer it's rather negative. Since you end up with more data or less quality...(taking the intraframe aside)
+Brice Milleson - While the 1DX II does have some improved and impressive video features, it’s geared toward the professional photojournalist/sports shooter. With this in mind, 4K screen grabs are going to be clearer (and easier) from Motion JPEG. +B and H Thank you for the response, that is probably the simplest explanation I've heard and overall it seems Motion JPEG has more benefits to the photographer rather than the full time videographer. I've switched entirely to mirrorless and love it for shooting video, not lets see if mirrorless can catch up to DSLR's for photos, it's only getting closer haha.
4K video in this new Canon 1Dx MK 11 camera is thumbs up far better than the new Nikon D5, but for still photographers the Nikon D5 is far better, just my 2 cents
Does anyone on the planet know what it's dynamic range is? I've searched for weeks, asked canon directly and no one wants to say anything other than "Improved Dynamic Range". From a marketing perspective, this is a massive fail. It's a major consideration when buying a camera as it has a huge effect on image quality as well as my personal buying decision. To omit that critical piece of information from the specs of the camera is unacceptable from a company as large as canon and it makes no sense unless they're trying to hide something.
I think this 4K thing is all about selling the product. Most of TVs cant transmit at 4K definition! Its another thing if you want to shoot action photography like sports and wildlife. Ok I understand that autofocus there is very important to not miss the shot etc. but I dont think it has made a huge difference from the 1Dx. If 14fps over 12fps is crucial to someone... well i really feel sorry for them. lol. If you cant get the shot at 12fps what makes you think that you can take it at 14fps?
Holy crap i loved it 4K 60fps Gopro and Sony only do 4k at 30fps in action sport or even panning camera 30fps is too slow i don't want to use blur effect to mask slow fps like hollywood movie makers do But i think this a camera body cost something like 10 000e so i can only dream of it
That's like a F#$%ing Machine Gun bro... Sad that I'll never be able to afford these though I have great interest in wildlife videography, Planning to buy the 60D.
Looks like a studio camera, Full frame DSLR are way too large and too much weight for me. And motion JPEG is an unwieldy difficult to use format. 4k is nice, but it's in a terrible format.
no focus peaking or c log? as well as a lack of many other pro video features that are pretty much standard in cameras that are waaaayyy cheaper than this such as the a7s and gh4. firmware updates for the 5dmk3 that stop magic lantern from working? (and lets face it, magic lantern was canon's one and only saving grace) canon what are you guys playing at? you guys need to seriously sort your sh*t out because many of us have waited long enough for you guys to launch a decent dslr with pro video functions. i know so many people who have given up on canon and jumped ship to sony. i'm personally gonna wait 1 more month to see if the 5dmk4 will be launched and what it has to offer for video guys otherwise i'm gonna get a metabones adapter and jump from the sinking canon ship to the sony cruise liner just like everyone else.
20.2MP sensor, hmmm, if they were 24MP, for 8000 Canadian, would have been an instant purchase, but less than an Older 5D Mark III,,, not likely. Oh and don't think I'm cheap, I just dropped 5200 on a single lens.
Great camera BUT Canon major SLR consumers are craving for the models 5D M4 and 6D M2. If these models are not out shortly the bleeding to Nikon and Sony is going to be irriversible. If I was a new consumer of SLR cameras I wouldn't even consider Canon due to their bickering of updating their camera bodies. Nikon are fast in change plus they keep their pro consumer bodies relatively cheaper than Canon's (Ex 5D M3 is still more expensive than the D810 with inferior specs). 1DX M2 appeals for working professionals rather than semi professionals and enthusiasts. If I hadn't this glass and the underwater housings I would immediately switch to Nikon with their fabulous priced models like the D750.
+Mark Niebauer or the fabulously hard working professional. You don't get this camera for hobby unless you have more money than you know what to do with, but for the professional photographer/cinematographer this is a hefty price that delivers more capabilities than its price.
The talk would, add a curious person, have been better delivered over more examples of the cameras output, thank. Costumers want TO SEE, not just hear. Don't you think it might be especially true of people that.... you know, are photogs videogs cinematogs???
I hope they've got a complete redesign of the shutter mechanism that rendered the DX1 a piece of garbage .Even DX1 sold late last year were the same rubbish that the original launch was . Just Google for problems ; it's abysmal !
Ok people, you dont but a probody like the 1dx or d5 series for video. Stop asking. Its a still camera and thats what it does best. Nikons 3min 4k min recording is utterly useless. And Canon does not focus on 4k for anything other their cinema line, which is their bread and butter for video. You wont see 4k in the 5d mk iv either. If you want video specs get a cinema camera lol. Morons complaining just for the hell of it without realizing the utility of this camera. That buffer destroys anything on the market for action photography. Which is what its built for. These are also down sampled clips and images of squirrels and you guys are judging it by that? Lol. Amateurs.

Canon drops the ball again... No wonder Sony is gaining market share.
+Wayne Carter Well, it has a 1.4 Crop, so its still better than APS-C :)
+The Film Poets
you need to understand video Aspect ratio is 16:9 while still aspect ratio is 3:2. The camera uses to full length of the sensor but the height has to be cropped.
+Arash Hazeghi wrong.
If I had some money left I would spent it on this camera just to hold the shutter button down when I'm sad.
hahahaha
OK, some *very* serious specs here chaps.
Well done Canon.
finally... touch screens on pro cameras! Hope the next 6d or 5d will have that too.
Does it come with a selfie stick?

Nice representation of this new machine !
Professional presentation. Great run-down. Thanks a lot.
This camera is truly a beast.
lol that 14fps is gonna be a trouble at airports, it sounds like a machine gun hahaha
th33ninja not really, for me at least lol I take photos at airports all the time.

that of the 1DX. *Christina* AskPhoto@bhphoto.com

The talk would, add a curious person, have been better delivered over more examples of the cameras output, thank. Costumers want TO SEE, not just hear. Don't you think it might be especially true of people that.... you know, are photogs videogs cinematogs???
I already switched to Sony :) too late!
Lol. Amateurs.
will I afford this if I sell my left kidney and maybe a few litters of my unborn children?
Doesn't look all that impressive for video. Mushy footage...
