I've been a fan of Stephane and Django since 1971 and then became and remain a huge fan of Martin Taylor's. This little doc is priceless to me - thanks so much for posting it!
Thanks for this, Martin. Amazing, that at his age, ripe with experience, he was still playing better, and better! When you love what you play, and being who he is, the genius sounds even sweeter!
This video is so marvelous. What a wonderful soul Stephane was, and Martin what a privelidge for you to have such a great connection. Thanks so much for sharing, and all the very best wishes to you on your journey.
What a fantastic pairing of artists! Happy this could be captured on video. One could probably make an entire college course on the dynamics and theory behind these tunes...
Fascinating that when Stephane was told about the kid busking, he said that people don't open their windows anymore, don't really LISTEN. He would have croaked immediately had he been around when Twitter and Facebook took off. His comment is spot on.
There is a wonderful 2 DVD set from " REGION " 2 ...it's the European/Uk version, anyway.CALLED: STEPHANE GRAPPELLI - A LIFE IN THE JAZZ CENTURY ..I had discount electronics put some software on my PC to allow me to view it here in the U.S. VLC MEDIA PLAYER
I was hoping for a rendition of I've Got Rhythm where SG continually changes key, and MT has to keep with him. I remember hearing an excerpt of it on My Music (BBC) over 20 years ago, and I have the CD of that piece - and others - in my possession to this day.
absolutely brilliant. Martin is fantastic, and Stephane is otherworldly, and remarkably human at once. Thanks for posting this.

Two fabulous musicians! Stephane was just a phenomenal player. Music ran in his veins. Love the piano playing, too. Martin is a soul mate.

What a great video two of the greatest ever! Thank you Martin for letting us see this intimate side of Stephane.

The tone Stephane had. No other violinist has it.
Saw SG shortly before he passed but god he still had it. Astounding.

Where they go off the rails in "Georgia" ... there's no derailing Stephane!
Respect.
Quel finesse de jeu….

Martin Taylor is an obvious incarnation of Django Reinhardt... (he died in 1953 and was born again in 1956)
Éternel
Both unbelievable players...astonishing if we are honest. A little bit silly and insulting to compare him to to a Mick Hucknall.
Martin Taylor also looks a wee bit like Simply Red.
I didn^t know this guitar player. Shame on me. Just wonderful, reminds me of Charlie Byrd.
Martin is an even better player these days, not so much walking Bass.
saw him last night. absolutely amazing!
