I think he had his own thing going on. Sonny Stitt was definitely the most Bird-like guy around in this era, in fact he got so sick of being called a Bird mimick that he was forced to reinvent his sound
@@charliefriedberg I don't quite agree. I mean I'm transcribing Stitt's solo on It's You or No One at the minute, and there are a number of bird licks in it.
I never really warmed up to Bird. Now Charles, I could listen to all day. My 3 favorite alto men: Art Pepper, Paul Desmond, and Charles. His album "Today's Man" is superb.
Espectacular!!! No lo conocía!!! Que swing, que bop, que sonido, que buen solo!!!
👏👏👏 🎷🎷🎷
One of the best Alto solos ever.
Charles McPherson is highly regarded for his faithfulness to the language of Charlie Parker! This is quite brilliant!!

@@xxczerxx Good point! Thank you!
Stitt and bird are completely distinct

love this guy!!
He reminds me of Charlie Parker; his tone. I 💘 it.. 😃
He really does. It's such a comfortable feel for me.
Illin tune!
Hermoso!!!
Splendid version, other great version this melody are O. PETERSON' perfhormance
This is an unusual performance in that it features McPherson's alto throughout the song; there's no piano solo.
