I’ll preface this by saying what I’m about to share may be viewed as cheesy, but it’s true none the less. Thanks for the content you create; it’s brought much joy into my life as of late. I’ve recently been in some dark places (emotionally and mentally), but mountain biking has been such a wonderful activity I’ve recently started. Your videos have fueled the flames of that joy, and inspire me to get out on the trail and do some riding! Keep it coming, and thanks again!
This comment is absolutely priceless mate ! Don't stop riding and having fun mate! this sport is so unique and can change our lives to be so much happy and better!! :)
Keep riding brother. There are so many of us who are going through or have gone through what you are and MTB is the perfect outlet. When you think about it, on some level, Brian started the channel for the same reason. He hated his desk job. He loved MTB and that's what made him happy... so he made a life out of it.
A while back one of the sites asked users to describe what MTBing means to you in two words or less. Mental health was the number one response. As they say - "When you are going through hell, keep moving".
Thanks for sharing. You rode all the OG stuff. There's more than double what you rode heading north. A couple of notes, if anyone is interested: - The notch you rode up on Wagon is called Butterfly Run. We spent at least 5 man-hours debating on whether we could save a specific tree. At the time, a gal named Butterfly made national news protesting against logging on the West Coast. So that section of trail was named in her honor. - Thanks for picking up the glass. That part of the trail crosses an old homesteaders dump. The glass and metal leaches out of the trail on a regular basis at that spot. - As a selfish side note, it was really cool seeing you feature most of BRP that I helped design and build (the old sections). You're a really strong rider and your lines were generally right on. Very impressive for someone riding on a first pass.
I’m likely going to be relocating to the area in 2023 and looking forward to hitting these trails. I love old school techy, rocky, rooty stuff. Nice job building solid trails!
So exciting to see a great vid like this! I was involved as the tail steward from the beginning in the mid 90s until 2009. And it's so great to see someone really enjoying the trail (although, super props to the trail steward who really kicked it up several notches since I passed on the reins).
It’s super rad seeing one of my favorite youtubers riding my local trail network. I wish you had hit the newer northern BRP stuff though and avoided wagon wheel but still awesome to see. Keep up the amazing content!
I was hoping he would make it further north, too, but I gotta tell you, I always just walk up Butterfly (hardest part of Wagon) to spare my energy for highline. He made four runs at it and then cleaned highline PLUS rocky top and THEN the other direction UP those features on basement.. The guy's a machine.
These trails look awesome! Feel completely the same about residential streets... They were my safe haven when camping solo in my car some nights though.
From some places in OP you can be 20 minutes from the majority of great trails on the KS and MO side. And then there'sa long drive to Landahl, which is worth it. About 3hrs to Bentonville, AR when it's too wet to ride in town. Welcome!
@@ruzz311 Thanks! Yeah been scoping out the trails, not quite like what I have in the Lake Tahoe area, but still looks like a ton of fun out there and have been lusting after Bentonville for a while!!
Project Hail Mary has been my favorite book of 2021. Read it and then went back to listen to the audiobook and the audiobook added so much more life into the book with how amazing the narrator is. I've been recommending it to all of my friends!
If you stop in the St. Louis area I'd ride Bluffviews new flow trail down, up Zombie West, down Zombie East, and back up Bluffview. We ride it weekly. Even in the dark and when it is covered in snow. A less know, but fun trail with a mix of terrain and features is Forest City in St. James. It is about an hour West of St. Louis.
Some have commented already on this so I'm echoing going to Shepherd MTN Bike Park (home of the 2021 AND 2022 Big Mountain Enduro) as well as Zombie East, Zombie West, and the all new BluffView flow trail just outside of St. Louis. You don't want to miss either trail.
Man, you missed the north part of the trail with customline. A few fun drops, one over an abandoned car! Thanks for clearing glass off even though it feels futile at times.
Yep, you certainly are in Kansas. Rocks and roots everywhere for 21 minutes. 3 minutes of flow trails. It takes a lot of strength end perseverance to ride in Kansas. That's pretty much why I've given up riding in trails in KC. Lawrence had the river trails which was fun but I'm too far now for the drive. Thanks for the video Brian!
Mad props to KC trail builders. This is true singletrack xc - it isn’t all over groomed and you have to have some skill to ride this, and there’s some nice flowy groomed stuff too. I’ll put this one on my list to ride next time I’m in KC. Nice vid, Brian.
Keepin' it real! "no tweekers out here".. Laughed so hard! The tweeky's are all here where I live in tweekerville Cali! Gotta ride armed and I don't mean the arms holding onto the handlebars.
The SW Mo Ozarks are adding a lot of trails including 2 Rivers ( not new ), Fellows Lake (35 miles of flow ), Howler Mountain ( opening in Spring of 22 , 28$ shuttle service, camping, bike shop, bar/restaurant). KC trails look gnarly!
Wife and I just rode that trail Sunday, that technical part of Bo Ho Ca is gnarly, and loved River Trail to Rock Bottom and Little Moab. We’re North KC and it was our first ride here. Tennis Courts parking was safe also, thanks for showing a KC trail enjoyed! Find me on FB we will put you up on a stop thru next time!
I made a coast to coast drive from Cali in the middle of July .lots of roots on the east coast and totally drenched after a ride .on the way back I hit a trail in Kentucky with my first elevation climbed .Stoped in Colorado at the 401 trail in Crested Butte where the 11,000 elevation bonked me but I ran into some ebikers from Kansas City who said they had great trails .I passed through with no thought that there was much mountain biking but it appears they do have trails that are challenging . Stoped in Moab for my last ride at Navajo rocks ( fun and challenging )
I used to live in Iowa (before cycling) .I’d love to head back one day to check out the trails. Oh and it sucks getting your car broken into. I’ve had my Cat 5 bag stolen with $1300 worth of gear in it.
My first house in KC was right next to those trails. Was on them almost daily, still remember most those spots almost 15 years later. Hehe, I hated the spider webs especially when I was the first in the mornings.
Ahhhh, the good old Arrowhead Spider (Triangle Orbweaver). It seems like 90% of the webs crossing the trails are this species. One reason I'll wait till late morning to ride our trails.....so the early riders break all the webs. BRP isn't my favorite, but when I go there, I'll ride the north loop. Good video BTW.
When you make your way back across country if you head thru Iowa make sure you stop and ride the Banner State park trails between Indianola and Des Moines.
that trail system is sweet, now there are better options in missouri with shepard and howler mountain bike parks opening, the chub trail and bluffview trail system closer to st. louis and are also nice
Rode that same section of trails about a week ago, highly recommend! I agree that the parking lot was sketchy (which was not helped by the missing person posters on the trail) but had a blast. I will deff be back.
Park by the tennis courts if you are doing the south part of Blue River, park by Alex George lake if you are doing north of Red Bridge, or park up by the baseball diamonds if you are doing the far north part (such as Customline).
DUDE YOUR IN TOWN!!!!! LOVE TO CONNECT!!!!!! If you have time today i'd buy a coffee or drink and bs about mtb's and other areas in KC you should try!!! would even ride with you!!!!
Just came from elf day at the gym and even though these videos always give me motivation to work at being able to do that… … MY legs are burning JUST WATCHING this video 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Thanks! I tried the big drink before riding but it just bloats me. Now I ride almost fasting and do MUCH better. But yeah, that 2.5L of water in the hip pack drags my shorts down at times :-)
I do the exact same with my water I hate carrying a bunch of it so I drank a good bit before I leave out and it usually has some type of supple bit like lit or scratch in it. And bring some water or Some type of light Gatorade which Gatorade now does make a Pedialyte version
If you're ever back in Missouri you should check out Shepherd and/or Bluff View Bike Park/Zombie in STL. Shepherd I've heard is packed with rough technical features and of course, the iconic corkscrew from Backyard Trail Builds. Zombie is my NICA team's local spot, its got miles of technical goodness with berms and jumps throughout. The other interesting part of Zombie is its connection to the future Bluff View Bike Park which is gonna get some new flow and technical directional trails. It's already gotten the first jump trail which is pretty nice. Love the videos
Braver than me. I would walk the trail along that water. Those rocks are sketchy. At my local trail Halpatiokee, Stuart Fl. Someone fell into the water earlier this year and a huge gator attacked him. He was rescued by a hiker. The river trail is closed indefinitely.
Bkxc you should really come check out the trail systems in southeast Wisconsin. Washington county fon du lac countie sheboygan county waukesha county . Lots of fun midwest trails in the kettle moraine forest ice age terrain its beautiful i must say
Next time in Missouri you need to go to Shepherd Mountain bike park. Its a true midwest downhill with a shuttle service for $30 a day. They may comp you a ticket knowing it will be on UA-cam.
If I'm riding BuRP I try to park somewhere where there are other cars parked and some traffic going through. No problems so far by Alex George wetlands or on the south end of the greenway by the tennis courts. A few years ago made the mistake of parking in the secluded lot off Red Bridge Road and after my ride found out that someone had decided my car didn't need it's catalytic converter any more...
This is my home trail, very cool to see you on it! You did miss the jump line where you jump over an abandoned car.
It would be great to see more rides on the north side of Redbridge trails. Guess when he comes back through? ;)
He needs to go to the new trails in st. Joseph north of Kansas city
@@owenrehmer7238 that trail is for pros only
Sweet! I’m likely relocating to the area in 2023. Looking forward to hitting all the local trails.
I'm local but new to the area where is said jump line.

That crease on Wagon is one of the toughest in the city. I've only cleared that once. If you ever come back and want a proper KC tour hit me up.
We heard the same when we were riding in Missouri, but lucky we had no issues.
awesome trail by the river bank! and those rocky technical sections, oh love those!
Cool to see you at a local trail. Just rode Swope and the north side of BRP last weekend.
Hi Brian!
