This is genuinely one of the best makeup tutorials I have ever watched. Thank you. So nice to be taught by someone who has an appreciation of shape, colour, light, shadow... I am practicing this now and while my application isn't perfect, I am a little bit shook by how much bigger my 'done' eye looks than the undone eye!!
This looks absolutely gorgeous on her, but I'm in my 60's and fear I will look like raccoon eyes. I WILL try this though. Great make-up artist you are. Thank you.
Applying shadow under the eye like that is also flattering on women with longer faces or faces that have lengthened through ageing., as it makes the eyes appear to sit lower in the face thereby shortening the distance from under eye to jaw/chin.
This is a true WOW effect... so what's that beautiful mauve grayish shade she worked with? That's perfection... not to mention the purple at the end. All of them the right colours... Will you tell us! As well as the pencil, please. Stunning! Great model too, gentle movements to show it and she could stay steady all the way... xx..
I've already watched this video many times and it is all I need for my very hooded eyes, Thank you so much for sharing your tips , Rae, you are the best ever...congratulations
Loved this video and it's definitely applicable to me... fantastic instruction on how to lift that outer section too, which works a treat. Thank you Rae, fabulous!
Excellent tutorial. Tutorials weren't working for me so I ended up just talking to myself: I want longer eyes so I have to put a darker color beyond the outer corner, my crease is uneven and collapsed, draw a new one, my mobile lid looks sunken so the crease color needs to be darker than the mobile lid in some capacity, etc. I love seeing it put together by someone who knows already how to do it flawlessly. Love the look. Super Helpful
I love this tutorial so so much. Finally i have my eyeshadow perfect!! Am enjoying it so much, i am using eyeshadow everyday!! Love her on-point guidance ❤️
Thia explaination was the sinplest clearest and most useful Ive ever heard!! Thank you! I wish I could have seen a bit closer what you did with the shadow joining the crease and undereye
Hi from Rae's assistant. I'm so sorry we do not have a list of the brushes used from this tutorial. They are all from Rae's older brush range using goat hair. Rae now has a new and improved brush range using Micro Crystal Fibre that makes these techniques and brushes even easier to use. You can find them on RaeMorris.com ❤️
This is partially correct, but putting all that stuff under the eye really dragged it down, it was obvious for anyone to see. If you stay away from putting stuff under the eye and make the new Kris but higher than the older grease and concentrate on the edge and bringing it up in a dark way, that's the way to do it

For a better lift don’t line underneath the eye at all and really darken the outer corner. Lining the underneath drags it all down and ruins the cat eye
Thanks for sharing this video 💕 can you do a tutorial with eyeshadow stick? I’m always on the go and sometimes don’t have time for eyeshadow brush application :)
This was amazing thankyou! For those who say they haven't got time, I would do a dumbed down version..i.e. just create the socket line with the first matt eye colour she used, then a bit of colour on the lids and underneath the eye...do all the other things for an occasion..nice to have the option! X
Could we get a video with bright and bold colors? I feel like we are always working with matte browns. I want to see rainbow colors. Pastels and neons. I feel like you're never too old and I want to see how to wear this color best on my hooded and down turned eyes. Plus, I'd like to see mature eyes. Eyes with the wobbly skin that doesn't behave and sit still when you blend.
Thank you for your feedback! Rae has a video doing make-up on a mature woman with hooded eyes over on her Instagram IGTV. Here is the link -> instagram.com/tv/CPSV3UGBfSV/? Rae is constantly making more videos, so stay tuned for more! Regards, Rae Morris Team ❤️
I hear ya. Many women over 50 have upper eyelids that cover 3/4s of their top eyelid completely to the lash line & that fold as much as 1/2 an inch downwards at the outer corner. But no makeup artist is going to show you this common case because this isn't their client base. At best they're going to show you those rare cases of older women with barely hooded eyes & eyes that are naturally up-turned so they hardly fold or droop at all. Still Rae's phi technique will work for you; you will just have to adjust the geometry for your eye shape & take care to find colors that are cool enough to create the contour-shadow you want but not so dark you look Goth. I think Rae uses Natasha Denona shadows here; I use Viseart Neutral Mattes myself or Laura Mercier. If you like a sheerer effect, you can buy 2 Chanel quads for the right colors & mix. Cream shadows like Trinny London work well too. Good luck!
Same here with me! I have deep set hooded eyes but love bright colors! Wish I could get help to make halo or half crease tuts for my type and color preferences lol ☺️
@@raemorrismakeupThe video is no longer available! I know it was put up 3 years ago, but lots of us middle-agers are still interested in seeing the makeup applied to someone with more mature eyes.
I’ve never been confident enough to do an eye like this however thanks to you I now can. You are a great teacher. I love your tutorials. Thank you. May you please take care and stay safe in the Sydney lockdown.
Will this technique of creating a new socket and placing colour under the eye work when you have discoloured under eye /sunken eyes with hooded lids. 🤔😕
Yes, just make sure to use a good concealer under the eye and underline only half way instead of going to the inner eye. Wayne Goss has great videos on concealing under the eyes.
While I’m here can I say a truly huge thanks for your IGTV explaining and demonstrating the “phi” technique. I meant to add that to my previous comment. I’ve got the Mater Class book which is the best makeup book I own and watching that IGTV, especially with lockdown has been my happy place

The shimmer eye on the right looked way more lifted to me. ? Am I crazy ? Love the technique nonetheless and ty
I love this, thank you for this education. I would love to see a tutorial for deep set eyes (think Rose Byrne), it would be super helpful!

Does anyone know what makeup brush she used for the under eyeshadow
Stunning 🤩
Which makeup did she use?
I thought the eyeshadow on the top should have been blended in a bit more. ❤

Is something wrong with me? I think her left eye looks better. 🤦🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️
Nice..but takes so long, I never sweep back and forth that many times, takes patience.
It’s prom time wish you were here !!!
I really don't have time for this! I prefer leaving them bare, with a little bit of mascara. Thank you for the tips!
Wish this was shown on a mature eye.
