Greatly appreciate John's education on the aftercare for blackout tattoos! No other artist has explained it like that or how to properly care for a blackout tattoo, which is probably why I've seen so many blackout tattoos not turn out smooth after they heal.
Me too! First tattoo I’ve healed like this. I’ve heard a handful of different methods. At the end of the day if the artist you are going to has solid healed work.. what they are doing works!
This is perfect! I have an all day session this weekend so thanks for the tips! Never done a blackout sleeve but covering an old sleeve so glad that you share this!
My experience. Saniderm after the session. Wear saniderm for 3 days. Remove and wash with unscented mild dial soap and apply unscented lotion. Repeat 3 times a day until healed completely.
@@ThatTattooGuyOfficial My blackout is a left arm sleeve. The work is done in sessions and each session gets the Saniderm. My artist cleans the area and applies aquaphor before the Saniderm. Does just fine for three days with minimal weeping.
Just to echo the many complimentary comments, that does look VERY cool. Getting one like this myself soon, so wanted to ask if you wouldnt mind showing/detailing the 'Yayo' product you use. Im in UK so not sure i can get that over here, but if i knew what it was/looked like i could possibly order from USA in time for mine🙂.
I like to use pool water to clean mine. Scrub with 4K sand paper. Wrap with black electric tape. Black tape for blackouts. Red tape for color….okay I’m done.
I’m getting black out in 3 weeks. I heard that dry healing is better. So just wrap it up first day and then don’t wrap it up any more or put any aftercare on. Do you think that’s good advice or not?
@@ryiscept I’m not a blackout artist so I couldn’t say. If you saw your artist has solid healed photos then I would just listen to their advice when it comes to after care
What do you recommend to do if the black isn’t even all the way through or if some parts healed differently to others (darker scabbier look) can you advise
That plastic wrap is a bad idea, especially in hotter weather. I’ve seen idiots walking around with sweat pooling up underneath. Might as well sit in the ocean.
That looks sick as hell healed🤘
Thanks ! I love it

John is awesome! Thanks for showing healing process! 😊
He is a good dude! And you’re welcome

@@hb2289 saniderm would never hold all the discharge for a blackout. It would pop. That works for many other tattoo styles tho!

@@hb2289how many sessions for the entire sleeve?
excellent video. easy to watch and super fun. are you interviewed on any podcasts yet?
Thank you :) I have done a friends podcast, but not any ones that people would know about. I’m open to it tho :)
@@ThatTattooGuyOfficial great! would you mind pointing me in the direction of that channel?
Awesome work 👌🏻 I'm planning getting some similiar blackwork on my leg next week, let's see how it goes haha
@@Killwave1913 haha it will be awesome !

Did you only use soap from the third day onwards? Thank you 🙂
No I used the lotion as well
Instead of using the Saniderm could I use Tattoo Amour for when I’m at home and sleeping during the night? Getting blacked out in a week or so

This is the superior healing method
You forgot the sunbed session and your gym workouts
That’s a sick looking blackout
Thank you !

It’s crazy I started to peel after 2 and a half days
The tattoo looks like abstract blackwork than blackout. You need to have your arm completely black to be called a blackout tattoo.
You’re right.. old tattoos weren’t blacked out on my arm or anything
Man why you have ぐでたま T shirts haha

It worked great. I sleep in an air conditioned room.. it’s only at night
Offical WIGGER
Just use coconut butter😂
