To me....this song is the HIGHLIGHT of Moana. It juz touches your heart....moves me in a great way.
Amelia Tanzil and lin
Amelia Tanzil it's hands down my favorite song of the movie and it feels way too short. In a sense it's one of the most important songs too as it's her being reminded of her heritage and how important what she's about to do is. I had massive goosebumps the first time I heard it.
All the songs made me cry. It was so good.
Couldnt agree more
It's my favorite song in the movie easily and I wish it was longer
I'm a simple woman, I see Lin on a thumbnail. I click
Mαяу Uηινєяѕє who is this Lin dude?
The guy who wrote several musicals such as "In the Heights", "21 Chump Street" and the popular "Hamilton".
He also sung at the Oscars 2017 because of his original song from the film Moana that got dominated
Mαяу Uηινєяѕє
The only reason I wanted to watch Moana was because of Lin
Butterfly Taster I did it for lin and to get in touch with a bit of my culture.
Butterfly Taster I didnt like hamilton and then I got obsessed with moana and got obsessed with hamilton
YALL I DIDNT EVEN NOTICE LIN WAS IN THIS OH MY GOD I CANT UNHEAR IT
Lillie Coats i'm so glad i was not the only one.
Lillie Coats SAMEDT I WAS LIKE "WHAT LIN WROTE AND SANG WE KNOW THE WAY??" AND WHEN I HEARD IT I SWEAR I HEARD HAMILTON
Lillie Coats who is lin
Lin, Lin-Manuel Miranda, The Linnamon Roll. Only the most genius, adorable ray of sunshine to ever grace the earth. The writer and star of both In "The Heights" and "Hamilton," he also wrote a great deal of the Moana soundtrack and sings as the old chief in this song
ik man, i knew he wrote the songs, but i didn't know he sung this
When I first heard that song and heard lin's voice I started screaming so hard my voice was hurting and my parents thought I was dying
Don't worry I burst out crying in the cinema
I envy you. Loved the movie but had to watch it in german translation (stupid little cinema here isn´t screening OV). Its my favourite song and something was missing when I watched that movie (knew the song first)
Star Bucks mE
SAME
Star Bucks same
Lin is the cutest human on the planet. "That sounds nice" 😂
Yesssss
As a Pacific Islander when I heard this song in the theatre for the first time I couldn’t hold my tears. This song has such an impact for Pacific people, it’s really moving cuz it tells our story and those of our ancestors with so much pride.
I love it when Disney finds a way to represent an entire culture in a song. It's as powerful and brings you as much pride as singing your national anthem
As a Welshman with lots of rich history and culture through song, I loved it too absolutely loved it and loved my time on the Pacific islands
OK, maybe I'm the only one who loves Moana and Hamilton. If Somebody else do, I'm willing to wait for it.
I AM NOT THROWING AWAY MY SHOT!
DID YOU JUST-
I would answer but that depends who's asking. Cuz when I start talking about hamilton I'm just nonstop
When I love both people look at me like im stupid. Im not stupid.
WAIT FOR IM THE ONE THING IN LIFE I CANT CONTROL
*Sees Lin on the thumbnail*
*gasps*
*clicks*
Mikasa you watch moana and hamilton *gasp*
I was watching the movie and when I heard lin's voice my heart starting beating soooooo fast!
Aspa rkles same I was LIKE UHH I KNOW WHO THIS IS
Aspa rkles, why? I'm trying to figure out why everyone is so crazy about him. Is it because of Hamilton?
usually i dont look at movie credits but i wanted to see lins name and when the other version of 'your welcome' came on and lins rap started i fell off the couch and screamed making my family think i was insane
Douglas Pupper a
Yes, it's because of Hamilton. It's also because of his other two musicals, In the Heights and 21 Chump Street. His music has became very popular, and people just like him as a normal person in general. It's kinda hard to explain, but it's kinda like we're super fans of him.
Duck duck Goose goose when I watched the movie I didn’t know who Lin was, but recently I got into Hamilton and UA-cam recommended We Know the Way to me because “Lin Manuel-Miranda” was in the title and I was not disappointed
I think it's great that half the song is in tokelaun. It's so beautiful and authentic. They captured pride joy family and adventure in the sound of those voices, the words and the beat. I wish it were longer
I wish I'd known of Lin before I originally saw Moana
Me too
Same Lin's a blessing!
I went to see in the heights when it first started and been a fan since. I got lucky in that way.

Lin is my favorite part of Moana. The first time I watched it, I hadn't listened to Hamilton yet. But I was babysitting my two cousins and we watched Moana. I heard Lin's voice and started freaking out. The two kids I were babysitting looked at me like they were concerned for my sanity. Honestly, they should be. That's what I get for being in the Hamilfam.
I didn’t even realise until now that Lin sung the english part of this song. I love them so much. As a Polynesian, I’m so happy Lin worked on this!
One thing I didn’t know till late 2021 is that Lin, and all those guys was a HUGE part of my childhood. As a Polynesian we don’t really have much movies to represent us except for Lilo & Stitch, and this song for 4 years since it came out. It gives me such pride and joy, it makes me love my culture even more.
the goosebumps is real guys
the choir gave me goosebumps
This song should definitely won a Oscar lin is such a wonderful man
I grew up in NZ and I thought I knew most Polynesian songs. When I first heard this, I didn't recall ever hearing it before. No wonder! Congratulations on creating a new and memorable song!!
THIS SING STILL BRINGS TEARS TO MY EYES!!!!
so much emotion.
When I first heard this I was like, "wow. That sounds really good." Then about a week later I watched it again and literally jumped out of my seat hearing Lin and my parents thought I had a heart attack.
When I heard Lin sing I could barely *stay alive*
Ikr I was helpless
He's just never satisfied with his music.
It will never be enough
He really dose write like he is running out of time
man these puns are non-stop
We can all agree that Lin Manuel Miranda is one of the best singers ever.
I mean, he sang in Hamilton, Moana and many more films/musicals. And in all of them his voice is amazing
"That sounds nice." - Lin-Manuel Miranda.
I think this song really highlighted the idea of how much exploration the Pacific Islanders did to spread their population across the ocean. It's a beautiful song
I love the look on Lin's face when he hears something great. "That sounds nice." He sounded so sweet and genuine.
Lin is an American treasure.
lin singing in the tokelauan is honestly so freakin cool! and i have heard of igelese and his work, super cool
I mean besides the fact that Lin Manuel helped write and compose this song, this song is actually genius and one of the deepest songs in Moana.
If you want to know more about why, check out Sideways video on Disney and Language
This is honestly one of best songs scores ever written. Lin illustrated his talent with others in making one of the best songs of the entire movie.
This song is so filled with emotions, it always makes me cry!

I really feel this song lets you feel the soul of pacific islanders. It's such a short song, but it's so beautiful!
I get tearful every single time I hear a note or two of this beautiful song. ❤️
I just want to hug Manuel and thank him for his art
PERFECT SAILING SONG..
I love Moana so much and I've seen it so many times but after rewatching it today I've only just realised that Lin was in it and I felt so dumb. I thought I recognised the voice and then I realised who it was and I screamed.
This is my favorite song from the whole sound track and movie!!
Gosh I still love this song and think it's one of the most moving moments in the movie when you just hear Lin come in. Thanks for all your great work on this and the musicals!
Bless these people
I can’t unhear Lin now
Me either
I cry every time I watch this scene or listen to it cause it’s so beautiful, the visuals for this song and the culture appreciation makes me so happy I’m crying rn
I know that lin wrote for moana but i never even noticed his voice love this song
I was crying when I heard you sing Lin I love it
The fact Lin sang along was wonderful
I watched this ages ago. And I only just discovered that this was Lin and I’m dying. How did I never realise.
This is just a behind the scenes and yet I have goosebumps from hearing them sing. Power.
"that sounds nice"
Gorgeous song with the most important message, one we urgently need to return to! The voices of the choir really take it to another level. Beautiful!
My favorite song of the past several years
i only came becuase lin.
same
That moment when you finally realize Hamilton is singing we know the way in Moana 🤯
best song ever man
To think back in the day when making movies... They wouldn't even consult the people it came from. Look how far we've come
I cannot resist this song and the animation. Love from Brazil. We identify with this energy.
Proud Polynesian ♥️💪🏽
I cannot unhear his voice
When I watched the movie for the first time I was like *HeY iS tHaT LiN-mAnUeL mIrAnDa I hEaR* ? I knew he did the music but I knew him the exact moment he started singing...

Thank u guys. Such a beautiful song it made me teared up 😊
Because if this song that I love the ocean again 💕
My fav Moana song!
i was rewatching moana with my sister and this song came up and i was like '...alexander Hamilton?'
this song moves me in a very great way!!! omg am I a descended of a voyager too?? cheeehooo!!!
I wonder why Lin and Opetaia never performed this song together live - it would be so cool!
Did you know that he wasn’t supposed to sing the final version, but the directors felt natural his singing and decided to go with him by the end.
5% of the comments are people who actually like Moana
29% are comparing Hamilton and Moana or complimenting the song
the other 51% are people just fangirling over Lin-Manuel Miranda
I'm here because the song! I don't know who is Lin before. What I know is just one: this song (and the Lin's voice) is soooooo amazing.
Sheren "the Lin"
I'm dying 😂
Ghost Wolf so you enjoy my little mistake.
Sheren I just thought it was a bit funny...
This is the best moana song ever
I find it odd that two other songs from "Moana" were favorably mentioned in reviews, but not this one. The other two were OK, but this is the real deal. It captures the flavor of Aloha in a way the other songs do not. Sorry, but "You're Welcome," while droll, cannot compare.
I can't FUCKING unhear him,
And i dont want to.
that sounds nice 🥺
I was shocked to see Lin
I JUST NOTICED LIN SANG SOME OF THIS SONG
this is cool! 😀
part of my heritage
Im a simple girl i see Lin a start clicke violently
Hello from August 2020 ...just passing by
Thx To Lin Manuel
Obviously I was a child when it came out so I didn’t realise that lin was singing in it. I watched it again for the first time in a while the other day at my sisters house and heard it was lin. I literally started running around screaming for everybody to come and listen 😭
Moana became my most fave movie.....
I didn’t didn’t know Lin played in this movie......... 0w0
I just want to point out that the pendant that the captain of the voyagers is wearing is the same pendant that Moana receives from her grandmother, the pendant that is used to store the heart of Te Fiti. I have a theory that Moana's ancestors recovered the heart, but it was lost when the chief's son didn't return to the island. When the ocean couldn't give the heart to baby Moana, it gave it and the pendant back to the grandmother. That's probably also why the chief gave his son the pendant before he departed, might it be because they were on a quest to restore it or just a superstitious thing.
Does anyone else cry when hearing this song? Asking for a friend.
"Sounds nice"
"Oke"
“That’s nice.”
“Okay.”
