Bro i had the Sonos Arc for like 3 months before i realised i had been playing stereo-PCM.... I was wondering why the APP showed "stereo-PCM" when i was playing ATMOS content on Netflix etc. Activated "Pass-Through" on my TV and the entire soundbar almost exploded. It was like the heavens opened. So happy i figured it out 😁
I did the same thing not realizing I was handicapping the Sonos soundbar. It just sound so good out the box compared to the tiny LG OLED TV speakers and didn't think to dig further.
Good video! I have the LG B9 OLED, Apple TV 4k and the Sonos ARC, but when I got it all set up, tv shows that would normally have Dolby Atmos were only showing 5.1 on the Netflix App (running on the Apple TV). It was driving me crazy (especially when I saw that the Netflix app build into the B9 was in fact outputting Atmos through the soundbar), so I called Sonos support and the tech had no idea what to do, so he transferred me to a tier 2 person who was actually able to help. He said that there's a known issue where the Apple TV 4k is not always able to output Atmos to the Sonos Arc (Sonos are working on it with Apple apparently to fix it asap, he told me) - he made me turn eArc off and back on on the television, change Bitstream to PCM and back to bitstream, power cycle the Sonos and the LG B9, and only after all of that I am finally getting Atmos. So if you ever have someone with an eArc TV or LG OLED, and an Apple TV 4k saying they are not getting Atmos on their Sonos Arc, that's what I had to do to make it work. I think you are proving that the real experts are those that willingly go through the route you just described. So luckily the issue here seems like a bug and will hopefully be resolved. I did not run into this problem with my C9. I will certainly use your advice if I get comments that they are only getting 5.1 when they should be getting Atmos. In particular with an Apple TV. Another reason is because unless you have the 2021 apple 4k You won't get full Dolby Atmos. They didn't add full support for Dolby Atmos on the apple tv until this 2021 version
One of the nice things about the magic of advanced positional audio is that it can sometimes create a 4D effect. A bomb went off right behind my wife’s ear and she punched me. I have to fine tune the delay to get it synced better but it felt like I was truly there.
Hello do you think that the TV Sony KD-75XE8596 works with sonos arc for Dolby Atmos ? i bought it and i think the sound of it is great but i tried it on netflix and it only shows on Underground 6 that its 5.1 not dolby atmos it never shows Dolby Atmos not even on the sonos app. Do you think i have to get the Fire TV Stick 4K which has a great price 50€ or the Apple TV 4K which is 150€ more I dont know whats the best for dolby atmos? Hi, definitely don’t use optical. Only ARC/eARC supports Atmos. I have been able to get Atmos from my 2019 Sony TV with the Arc. So I don’t think you need to get the Apple TV. I don’t think Fire TV supports Atmos on Netflix. Have you by chance gone to sound settings - advanced settings - Input related and made sure that it’s outputting Dolby digital + as opposed to Dolby digital?

At least a few weeks ago fire tv did not work with Netflix (Atmos) but would work with say Prime Video. This situation is always changing. I like Apple TV , though a new one is expected maybe as soon as next week (be announced) - may want to wait for that . Are you by chance able to get Atmos on any other service? That would help diagnose if it’s just Netflix or perhaps the TV.

Hello Daniel. I hope you can clear this up for me. I have this setup: Sonos Arc via eARC to LG CX and Apple TV 4k via "normal" HDMI input to LG CX. There's only 1 HDMI input labelled eARC/ARC behind the TV andI don't know what to call the other HDMI inputs. My questions are: one, will I be getting Dolby Atmos from streaming Netflix on the LG CX itself? and two, will I be getting Dolby Atmos from playing Netflix on the Apple TV 4k even if the Apple TV 4k is not plugged in the eARC-labelled HDMI input of the TV? By the way, I'm using high-speed HDMI cables but as I've mentioned, only the Sonos Arc is plugged into the eARC input of the LG CX. I'm so confused.
Sure np, I have a C9 and am able to get Dolby Atmos via both the TV and the Apple TV. If your TV supports eARC then the other HDMIs on the TV will pass through and be supported by eARC. This being said eARC only really matters when you are trying to play lossless 3D sound. The atmos you get from netflix streaming is via Dolby Digital + which is lossless. If you want highest level Atmos you will want to get a BR player and play discs that support Dolby Atmos. Bottom line the Arc and CX are a great pair. The TV outputs Atmos and the TV supports any level Atmos from external boxes. You’re golden
I use to have 1917 say atmos when connected to my arc sound system. I use a 60T Samsung and everything is enabled. Will check to see if uncompressed is checked for both LG 4K ultra hd blu ray player menu and Samsung’s. I believe I may be using wrong hdmi cord after moving.
Can you show us how to set up a SONOS arc and LG OLED series with eARC. I use both Netflix and Disney and Dolby Atmos does show on the SONOS app, But whether this is Lossless or lossy is my problem. A STEP by STEP video on the process of how to get the most from SONOS Arc. Thank you 🙏🏼

I have not had lip syncing issues on my Arc which I have connected to a 2019 7 series Samsung tv. I think Samsung started supporting eARC which you would need to get Dolby true HD in 2020 models. I don’t have a 2020 Samsung TV to verify sound settings. As Arc does not support pass through and your TV does not have eARC I don’t think your setup supports beyond DD+ (is my current understanding). There are products on the market that are emerging that are intended to get around this limitation. I’ll post in the description sometime later today.
I have the Arc, Apple TV, and Sony Bravia TV. The Arc is connected to the eArc port on the TV and the Apple TV is wired to the Bravia. When I play content from the Apple TV should I route audio to the TV or can I AirPlay to my Sonos system (Arc + sub + One surrounds)? When I don’t use AirPlay, audio does not go to my surrounds :-/. So if I do stream using AirPlay should I be getting Atmos sound (assuming the content is Atmos of course)?
Hey I have the 2020 LG CX TV with the Sonos Arc. The app displays Atmos but there ist only good Sound but there is absolutely no atmos feeling....I tried Netflix Dolby Promo Videos with the PC but there is no Atmos feeling. I tried to change the position if the arc. I got a rectangular living room. There should be at least a lil bit atmos feeling. Do you have made the same experience?
I’ve definitely had different levels of experience based on room - with more convincing 3D audio in a slightly larger square room . And I got a different experience based on Dolby True HD and streaming Atmos. In previous videos I mentioned that streaming atmos is maybe not all that differentiable from 5.1. I’m not sure of the level of audio quality you are getting from the PC. If you have not already perhaps use trueplay to tune. If still not working, and good atmos is what you really want, perhaps return and get a Samsung SB system that I think does Atmos significantly better with 2-4 more ear level channels (with true rear support) and two additional rear upward firing channels. You’ll be giving up the Sonos ecosystem and quality user experience in this case however. Hope you find a solution! Let me know.
Thanks for the video. I tried palying an Atmos sample video file through vlc(apple tv) from a NAS Drive and I am not seeing the atmos logo on the app. I tried the infuse media player app(which supports atmos) aswell from the apple tv still no luck.

Out of curiosity, assuming your Sony is a smart tv, can you get Atmos via the TV Netflix app? Also can you get atmos via any other service like prime or Apple TV+? It used to be at least that some devices don’t support atmos on Netflix. Also I’m assuming you are connecting via e/ARC
I am a little confused, the TV not having eARC is not really a must for Dolby Atmos sound right ?. The Atmos sound alone can be negotiated between the Atmos soundbar and a streaming box or blu ray player connected directly to sound bar; Sound bar HDMI out will only send out a video signal to tv regardless of resolution or source.
eARC is critical for uncompressed Atmos (via Dolby TrueHD) . The Sonos does not have a pass through connection. So you can’t plug your BR player right into the bar. You will need to plug into the tv. So you are at the mercy of the TV on whether it supports eARC. Compressed Atmos not requires ARC. So eARC pass through a are not important if that is what you are aiming at.
Hello. I am having issues getting Dolby Atmos working on my Sonos Arc. I am using the firestick 4k. I have the premium Netflix 4k account. I updated my 4k TV to the latest software. Also I set both the TV and firestick audio settings to Dolby Digital. I made sure to play Netflix movies that support Dolby Atmos like El Camino and Klaus but they just show 5.1. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Also just wanted to note that if I set both the TV and firestick audio settings to auto it will use PCM 2.0.

If you don't have eArc you can buy a hdfury arcana. It's expensive at 180 pounds sterling here in the UK but it did allow me to get the best out of my expensive bose soundbar with one eArc out and 0 hdmi inputs. I bought a tv last year and doesn't support eArc. Not buying a new TV with my current set under 12 months old
I have tv Samsung 2018 QN65Q6FNAF and Sonos Arc. I enjoy the sound but not able to get Dolby Atmos. I know my tv support only dolby digital and this is not enough. Is there a way to get the Atmos with this configuration or I may need a new tv. Thanks!
I have a Sonos arc but Dolby Atmos doesnt work on it. I have the Panasonic Viera TX-47AS650E wich has a HDMI-Arc port but it doesnt seem to work. Is my tv just too old or is something else going on? All the other things you said in this video are fine with my setup. Thanks and great video!

I’m a fan of your channel and I have a issue/question. I just got a new 2022 LG C2 OLED TV, a Sonos Arc/Sub/SL One speakers, and I got my Sonos Arc connected to the eARC port on my TV via a 2.1 HDMI cable. I am watching & streaming Dolby Atmos content on Prime Video & Netflix via my TV apps, but I’m only getting eARC 5.1 sound through the Sonos system and not Dolby Atmos. The Dolby Atmos settings on my TV are greyed out and the Sonos app is showing that I’m only getting a 5.1 signal when I’m connected to the eARC port on my TV. I tried connecting the Sonos ARC to the TV using a non-eARC hdmi port and I’m able to get Dolby Atmos only through my TV speakers. The Sonos system only works with the TV when I connect to it via the eARC port, but it doesn’t allow for Dolby Atmos. Is there a workaround for this? I hear of others experiencing the same issue with LG OLEDs and the Sonos Arc.
I have all the same equipment - I can look into it. You have to use ARC/eARC port the other HDMI ports are inputs. They don’t send audio out. Do you by chance have a streaming box? Can you see if you get the same issue streaming through that?

I've noticed the Dolby Atmos on the LG TVs is active only when you are using the TV built-in speakers. I would ignore that setting unless you are using TV speakers only. I have LG OLED 55C1 (Beam Gen 2, Gen 3 sub, One SLs), and 77C1 (Arc, dual Gen 3 subs, Fives). I had to change the OLED HDMI output to "Bitstream" when watching cable TV and change from "Auto" to "Pass Through" when watching internet streaming services like Disney+ before I got Atmos to the soundbars. I had to send the unprocessed signal to the soundbar and let it do all the audio work. PCM or Auto setting on the LG OLED may not result in Atmos for the Sonos Arc/Beam Gen 2 soundbars.
Hello Daniel, I have a 3 year old Vizio E60u-D3 which I plan to upgrade this year. However, I am in dilemma to get a $2000 TV that doesn't work with my Apple TV and Sonos Arc Combo. 2021 Vizio P series Quantum X has eARC support but it does come only with DTS Virtual-X Audio support for its Audio output. Do you think eARC will passthrough Dolby Atmos for Apple TV 4K(5th Gen) even though TV it self doesn't support it ?

Help! My TV is LG oled65cx (2020), I'm connecting to the Sonos arc using the cable that came with the soundbar. I've checked all the boxes: eARC turned on etc, Netflix shows Atmos for the show, but when I start it out flashes "Dolby vision" and the Sonos app says Dolby digital plus 5.1. What can I possibly be doing wrong? I have unplugged the hdmi and power chords on both devices while switching to internal speakers in different orders but to no avail. Help?

I have a question. Assume all the following: I have a TV That has ONE ARC HDMI port. I have the Sonos ARC sound bar with one ARC HDMI port. I have the newest 4K AppleTV that streams Dolby Atmos content from either Netflix or Disney+. I have the proper high speed HDMI cables. I have the premium Netflix account. Now...the question. How do I get ARC pass through for all my devices? I assume I plug in the high speed cable from my ARC Soundbar to the ARC port on the TV. Then do I just plug the Apple TV HDMI cable in one of the OTHER REGULAR HDMI ports on the TV? Will this give me Dolby Atmos from the Apple TV box passed through to the ARC Sound bar??
@MrCanadiandad yes if your tv has an ARC port you can use your other tv HDMI ports to pass Atmos. Now remember regular ARC can pass Atmos via Dolby digital + (so Netflix, Disney+). If you want the best Atmos via Dolby True HD (Blu-ray typically) your TV will need eARC if you have a single HDMI bar like ARC. You could also buy HDFury which would give you the option of plugging a blue ray into that device, send the uncompressed audio to the ARC and video to the TV. Link in description.
Really basic question that isn’t clear: if my TV does not have eArc and only have ARC, am I screwed and will not be able to use the Dolby Atmos functionality? I have a Samsung MU7000 TV (2017).
Bitstream or Pass Through. Using PCM or Auto on the TV can be hit or miss with Atmos or it might even reduce it down to stereo. I have a 55C1 and 77C1.

Can buy the HDFury Arcana link in the description sends audio to the arc and video to the tv. And remember you can get Atmos just fine via the Arc port with Netflix etc ... just not DolbyTrueHD Atmos (the best kind) via blue ray
I had a house party yesterday and bragged about my new sound system only to be shamed!!!! First, my 2sl's kept having bad reception, causing the sound to be choppy from the rears. I unplugged them, attempting to reboot, but it kept happening. On top of that, when the party escalated to singing songs on youtube, while watching youtube I would have to turn the sound bar up to its max, but the audio still wasn't as loud as with Pandora. Do these 2 problems make sense to anyone? Is this a dolby issue or should I turn in my sonos for a samsung??
Sorry to hear this. Has been the opposite of my experience. Sounds like a faulty bar in particular if you are having connection problems with both the SLs

@@neverenoughtech No it was the same with samsung 550 sound bar, which is what I'm replacing. Another issue I've realized is that of course my tv isn't eArc compatible, it only has an arc hdmi port. I've rarely seen Dolby atmos on the app when watching movies, via my nvidia shield, or netflix. Which brings me to a bigger question if I don't have blue ray nor eArc compatible tv, is it worth it to get a sonos product, until I upgrade my tv, which won't be anytime soon.
Thanks for your very informative review. I'm curious to know though, whether a Sonos Beam Gen 2 can be connected to an Apple TV 4K in the same way that HomePods are connected - i.e. using AirPlay 2. I have an older TV that does not allow Dolby Atmos to pass through from a HDMI input to my HDMI ARC port. Therefore I need my Apple TV 4K to connect directly to my speakers using either AirPlay 2 or HDMI input (which the Sonos does not have). I'd prefer to use Sonos if possible, so I can extend the system in the future by adding a sub and the new Era 300 rear Atmos speakers. If this is possible, would latency be an issue? Or would it be just as good as using HomePods?
No you will need to plug the Apple TV into the tv and then connect the Beam to the tv via ARC - regarding your old tv problem. You can buy the HD Fury Arcana which sends the audio to the bar and video to the tv from an external source. Or you could update the TV. TVs with eARC are much cheaper these days.

I've heard about the HD Fury Arcana, but I was hoping to avoid that as it just adds additional cost to the Sonos solution, as well as adding another component that has the potential to mis-behave when you just want to sit down and watch something with the family! Does that mean when I use the Apple TV 4K to select other AirPlay audio output devices (e.g. an Atmos AVR), it will only send audio to that device as stereo, not Atmos?
I've got a sony950h with the sonos arc using the sonos hdmi cable that comes with the arc to connect to earc. My Netflix account supports atmos for 6 underground (i see it on the tv menu screen as dolby atmos available) yet i can't see atmos being active on my sonos app when watching any atmos content on Netflix. In the sonos systems info menu on the app it indicates 'Audio In: Dolby Digital Plus 5.1'. What am I missing?

Hi there. I have an LG OLED CX TV with a Sonos Arc. I want to stream Atmos TrueHD movies from my PC however some research suggests that I will need an Nvidia Shield to allow lossless TrueHD Atmos. Without an Nvidia Shield the Sonos Arc downsamples the audio stream and removes the Atmos metadata. However the Sonos Arc only has a single HDMI connection and the LG CX only has a single eArc HDMI connection. So... do you know if I would get lossless Atmos if I connected the eArc port on the TV to the Sonos Arc and then the Nvidia Shield to a separate HDMI port on the TV? Many thanks.
I have a LG C8 that supports atmos, an apple tv and a new B&W Panorama 3. When I check atmos on internal speakers it lights up, when I switch to HDMI to the B&O=no atmos? Any ideas?
I think the LG OLED C9 was the first model that upgraded the HDMI ARC to eARC. You C8 might show Atmos with internal speakers only; but, it can only output ARC from the HDMI connection. You will need a newer LG OLED starting with the C9 models if you want Atmos from HDMI connection to the Arc/Beam Gen 2 soundbars.

Gonna be honest not overly familiar with your system so I would hate to tell you how much sound you might be losing. And I don’t have really have any great insights on AVRs. Haven’t really made an effort to familiarize myself in that space. Yet. I’ll stay in my lane and provide my thoughts about Sonos. It’s a nice solid well rounded system. You would switch to Sonos if you are looking to minimize. Reduce wires and clutter and I suppose up your MultiRoom audio potential - get more options for Wi-Fi-level streaming. You will want to augment with surrounds and a sub for peak Sonos sound. Makes a big difference in the Sonos world. Keep in mind Sonos doesn’t have pass through so if your TV does not support eARC you will need a $200 accessory to get peak Atmos www.hdfury.com/product/4k-arcana-18gbps/

Have you actually proved this with Apple TV 4K? I have an LG C9 and Samsung HW-Q90r and no matter how I connect the device to the hardware, I get Dolby Atmos but with AV lag or using the Apple Music app, it will crash playing audio. Apple support reckon their engineers are ‘looking into it’!!! What do you think?
i have a Sony XBR 65X 930c TV (Has ARC not eArc, and an optical out) i have a PC capable of 4k video and a NAD T778 surround amp(Also ATMOS) i mostly watch 4 k with surround(Incl ATMOS) via my PC running to my T778 and T778 and TV Works a charm But i have a Netflix premium account, and to get 4k and ATMOS it gets trickier If i use the TV NF app i get 4k,but crap TV audio If i use my pc (and T778) & Edge browser for NF,i cannot get 4k, because i have a 5th Gen CPU,and a 7th gen is required i cannot get 4k.i assume i can get ATMOS tho? My limitations here seem to be my ARC only TV and my 5th gen CPU With those limitations in gear,can i still somehow get ATMOS from my Netflix?
I have the Sony XBR65A8F oled TV & I just bought the Sonos ARC ( to be delivered this weekend), I doubt my TV has eArc .. is there a work around for me or should I return Sonos arc upon delivery since I will not get the whole Dolby Atmos Experience ? Also, thank you for another wonderful video.
You only need eARC for lossless Atmos. Netflix Atmos. If you have some blue rays or gaming consoles then you can buy the Arcana HD Fury. It sends audio to the bar and video to the TV
ARC transfers lossy Atmos (e.g, Netflix) via Dolby digital +. eARC can handle BR style lossless Atmos via Dolby True HD. So yes both can handle Atmos but eARC is needed for the best Atmos. Hope that helps

It shows both kinds of Atmos on the app. YT does not do Atmos. Easiest way to see on app is find Atmos source on Netflix or Disney plus I’m turning 40 next year so - that’s coming - I usually find my wife complains about new HT equipment . She falls in love with the big TVs. Cares nothing for good sound
@@neverenoughtech mine neither but she noticed a difference between the old soundbar and new arc beam. I just integrated it with lutron caseta pico remote, works great as well. By the way, I checked both Netflix one through my Samsung TV directly and through Amazon fire stick. Both on 6 Underground are showing 5.1 🤔 I also searched "dolby atmos" movies on Amazon Prime app and even though it is showing UHD I still can't get Dolby showing on the app. I ordered on Amazon a 2.1 hdmi cable will try it shortly but with the one that came in sonos box it is still just showing "TV". Is your Netflix account different like different package or they all the same?
@@neverenoughtech just changed my plan to the one for $17.99 4K HD etc and used that 2.1 HDMI cable, still showing 5.1 😒 idk, Reddit was saying play a dolby movie even though it's showing 5.1 go back to interface go back to a movie and dolby will show up then, like it's glitch or something, but still not working for me, bummer
I'm using the hdmi cable provided by Sonos does that mean it is not 2.1 as I do not get the indicator on my app. I have to go into my settings and see it's DD+5.1

@@neverenoughtech yep. i meant that i would connect the usb to my tv, my bad. im buying one of the new sony bravia tv’s (x85j) and it supports eARC, so it should be compatible with the sonos arc/beam 2, but i dont know if i would be able to play dd+ audio codecs from a usb through the tv to the soundbar.
Hello I have a tv which has earc feature. When I was watching doldy atmos trailer in UA-cam, I can only see ‘Dolby digital plus 2.0’ but not ‘Dolby atmos’ in my Sonos apps. I changed the tv setting to earc mode but the problem was still there. Is it the problem of the UA-cam trailer? Is it a must that I have to watch Netflix so ‘Dolby atmos’ will pop out on my Sonos apps?? Sorry that I don’t have Netflix subscription at the moment. Thank you
UA-cam does not support Dolby Atmos as I understand. Better off looking for specific files online and playing through say an nvidia shield or playing bluerays
Which TV are you using. I’ve found that Samsung TVs can be temperamental about what they are outputting. Like will default back to Dolby digital instead of dolby digital + (sound -> expert settings). Also try refreshing the now playing page if you have not already. Sometimes you need to close it and open it for the DA logo to appear.
I currently have a 5.1 Sonos setup (playbar, sub and two sl1 for surround) I really want to get the arc and have a dual sub setup. My tv only has ARC and it’s not that old (Sony car-65x900e) should I upgrade? or would it be pointless. Thanks
I’d say go for it I don’t think an ARC tv will diminish the two subs. I suspect you’ll get a eARC TV at some point. Also you can buy the HDFURY Arcana to pass lossless audio to the bar.
hi i have a question, If your TV is ARC and soundbar is eARC can you still get Dolby True HD or atmos? While I do still get atmos through Dolby Digital but wanted to know if there's still a way to get full atmos, considering TV is not eARC. Been checking on some ways to somehow convert ARC port of TV to eARC but no luck yet. Thank you
@Bruce Kent you will need an accessory that can split audio and video ... so uncompressed sound to the soundbar and video to the TV ... I have a link to such a device in the description (HDFury Arcana)
Hey, I just bought an Arc yesterday to pair with my Samsung TU7000 55" 2020 TV, it has eARC and in the TV's settings it says Atmos is on and it's using eARC properly. But, when I play Dolby Atmos supported movies on Disney+ app on my TV, the Sonos app still won't display "Dolby Atmos" when it seemingly should. Any idea why it isn't showing Atmos?
I’m not entirely sure why. It could be some bug on Samsung’s software. I have an Arc and a q70 2019 samsung tv (no eARC) and I get atmos from Disney+ no problem. I suggest refreshing the now playing page. If that does not work assume Samsung’s fault. The Q950T soundbar causes shows that should read atmos to not on Netflix. I’ve given up figuring out why.

You Won’t be eligible for uncompressed atmos from Blu-ray’s (Dolby True HD) . You will get Netflix style (Dolby Digital +) Atmos which is not nearly as good
Found your channel and subscribed :). I am all for the best sound but not made if money. I’ll be moving into a semi detached house. I currently have the Beam and 2 ones as rears. Should I upgrade the beam to the Arc or buy the sub? Do you think the sub will be too much for the neighbours even if it isn’t on a common wall? Seriously considering purchasing the Sonos ARC. I have the Samsung Q800T (Q850T Costco) 8K TV. My question: I’m fully invested in Apple ecosystem. Q800T severely limits the output level when I pair my AirPods Pro (pages of Google complaints). Is it possible to pair the AirPods Pro to the Sonos ARC while watching TV. My hearing at 72 years young in fading and AirPods Spatial firmware upgrade is fantastic. Problem when paired to TV volume is limited to 16. One plus for the Q800T is their two channel audio as you can listen to AirPods, without cutting sound to sound bar output. Appreciate your reply, great video. Thank you,
Arc does not extend sound to headphones unfortunately. Though the Arc may be besides the point as it’s likely you can just pair your airpods with the tv directly. Maybe that’s what you mean by pairing to tv volume - in which case there may not be a good solution - didn’t bring my AirPods Pro on my trip. Have lots of headphones Staying with my 72 YO dad in Texas for the time being to avoid the cold Michigan winter - luckily can work from home.
Help! I have a samsung Q80t from costco and recently purchased a sonos arc. I am able to get Dolby Atmos from the amazon prime and netflix native apps, but not from the HBOmax and Disney+ native apps. What is going on?

I believe they do support it now - my 2019 5 series started supporting it a few weeks ago with the latest update - they should have a list of all the updated models on their site, or you can see in the audio settings that it says ARC/eARC now

Out of curiosity did you go to sound settings and select an uncompressed audio format. Have not tried on PS yet. Also make sure you are using high speed HDMI cables for the PS connection. My best immediate thoughts ...

@@neverenoughtech hmm. Got a lgc1 oled 2021 model. Cannot activate the dolby atmos function. I'm gonna research this a bit. Also asume this shouldn't be a problem. Trueplay is a apple exclusive feature,i know that. But atmos must work on android also indeed. Source is ps5 with mostly blurays.

If you plug directly into the soundbar you can get lossless Atmos. Just make sure to go to your BR player settings and make sure it is outputting an uncompressed stream. Good luck!
Hi , I found this video very informative. I have Optomo 4k shot throw projector and it have HDI ARC (not eARC). I am planning to buy Sonos Arc sound bar, If my understaing is correct, then it should work with my projector correct? I am using amazon fire 4k for the streaming. Please correct me if I am wrong.
@Lakshmi Ashokkumar You won’t be able to get uncompressed audio (DTS:X or Dolby True HD) but you will be able to get Netflix/Disney+ style atmos (via Dolby digital +).

Love your videos! You mentioned that different streaming boxes may or may not support Dolby Atmos on lets say, Netflix. What if I am using Netflix that is built into my smart TV? The normal way would be through the TV - HDMI connection and Arc via the HDMI-ARC port. You don’t need an eARC enabled TV to support Atmos via streaming. Let me know if this doesn’t makes sense.

Bro i had the Sonos Arc for like 3 months before i realised i had been playing stereo-PCM....
I was wondering why the APP showed "stereo-PCM" when i was playing ATMOS content on Netflix etc.
Activated "Pass-Through" on my TV and the entire soundbar almost exploded. It was like the heavens opened.

I did the same thing not realizing I was handicapping the Sonos soundbar. It just sound so good out the box compared to the tiny LG OLED TV speakers and didn't think to dig further.
Good video! I have the LG B9 OLED, Apple TV 4k and the Sonos ARC, but when I got it all set up, tv shows that would normally have Dolby Atmos were only showing 5.1 on the Netflix App (running on the Apple TV). It was driving me crazy (especially when I saw that the Netflix app build into the B9 was in fact outputting Atmos through the soundbar), so I called Sonos support and the tech had no idea what to do, so he transferred me to a tier 2 person who was actually able to help. He said that there's a known issue where the Apple TV 4k is not always able to output Atmos to the Sonos Arc (Sonos are working on it with Apple apparently to fix it asap, he told me) - he made me turn eArc off and back on on the television, change Bitstream to PCM and back to bitstream, power cycle the Sonos and the LG B9, and only after all of that I am finally getting Atmos. So if you ever have someone with an eArc TV or LG OLED, and an Apple TV 4k saying they are not getting Atmos on their Sonos Arc, that's what I had to do to make it work. Thanks again for the detailed vid.
I think you are proving that the real experts are those that willingly go through the route you just described. So luckily the issue here seems like a bug and will hopefully be resolved. I did not run into this problem with my C9. I will certainly use your advice if I get comments that they are only getting 5.1 when they should be getting Atmos. In particular with an Apple TV. Another reason is because unless you have the 2021 apple 4k You won't get full Dolby Atmos. They didn't add full support for Dolby Atmos on the apple tv until this 2021 version

One of the nice things about the magic of advanced positional audio is that it can sometimes create a 4D effect. A bomb went off right behind my wife’s ear and she punched me. I have to fine tune the delay to get it synced better but it felt like I was truly there.

Hi, definitely don’t use optical. Only ARC/eARC supports Atmos. I have been able to get Atmos from my 2019 Sony TV with the Arc. So I don’t think you need to get the Apple TV. I don’t think Fire TV supports Atmos on Netflix. Have you by chance gone to sound settings - advanced settings - Input related and made sure that it’s outputting Dolby digital + as opposed to Dolby digital?

At least a few weeks ago fire tv did not work with Netflix (Atmos) but would work with say Prime Video. This situation is always changing. I like Apple TV , though a new one is expected maybe as soon as next week (be announced) - may want to wait for that . Are you by chance able to get Atmos on any other service? That would help diagnose if it’s just Netflix or perhaps the TV.

My speed. PS5 in a sonos arc and projector set up. HDFury Arcana may be only solution to deliver both 4K @ 60 Hz (possibly 120Hz) to the latest gaming projector and eARC (Dolby Atmos?) to the Sonos Arc.
I can confirm the Sony XF90 from 2018 with ARC only can send a Dolby Atmos signal, showing up on my app so I'm a happy lad😁👌

Hello Daniel. I hope you can clear this up for me. I have this setup: Sonos Arc via eARC to LG CX and Apple TV 4k via "normal" HDMI input to LG CX. There's only 1 HDMI input labelled eARC/ARC behind the TV andI don't know what to call the other HDMI inputs. My questions are: one, will I be getting Dolby Atmos from streaming Netflix on the LG CX itself? and two, will I be getting Dolby Atmos from playing Netflix on the Apple TV 4k even if the Apple TV 4k is not plugged in the eARC-labelled HDMI input of the TV? By the way, I'm using high-speed HDMI cables but as I've mentioned, only the Sonos Arc is plugged into the eARC input of the LG CX. I'm so confused.
Sure np, I have a C9 and am able to get Dolby Atmos via both the TV and the Apple TV. If your TV supports eARC then the other HDMIs on the TV will pass through and be supported by eARC.
This being said eARC only really matters when you are trying to play lossless 3D sound. The atmos you get from netflix streaming is via Dolby Digital + which is lossless. If you want highest level Atmos you will want to get a BR player and play discs that support Dolby Atmos.
Bottom line the Arc and CX are a great pair. The TV outputs Atmos and the TV supports any level Atmos from external boxes.

I use to have 1917 say atmos when connected to my arc sound system. I use a 60T Samsung and everything is enabled. Will check to see if uncompressed is checked for both LG 4K ultra hd blu ray player menu and Samsung’s. I believe I may be using wrong hdmi cord after moving.
Can you show us how to set up a SONOS arc and LG OLED series with eARC. I use both Netflix and Disney and Dolby Atmos does show on the SONOS app, But whether this is Lossless or lossy is my problem. A STEP by STEP video on the process of how to get the most from SONOS Arc. Thank you 🙏🏼

I have not had lip syncing issues on my Arc which I have connected to a 2019 7 series Samsung tv. I think Samsung started supporting eARC which you would need to get Dolby true HD in 2020 models. I don’t have a 2020 Samsung TV to verify sound settings. As Arc does not support pass through and your TV does not have eARC I don’t think your setup supports beyond DD+ (is my current understanding). There are products on the market that are emerging that are intended to get around this limitation. I’ll post in the description sometime later today.

I have the Arc, Apple TV, and Sony Bravia TV. The Arc is connected to the eArc port on the TV and the Apple TV is wired to the Bravia.
When I play content from the Apple TV should I route audio to the TV or can I AirPlay to my Sonos system (Arc + sub + One surrounds)?
When I don’t use AirPlay, audio does not go to my surrounds :-/. So if I do stream using AirPlay should I be getting Atmos sound (assuming the content is Atmos of course)?
Hey I have the 2020 LG CX TV with the Sonos Arc. The app displays Atmos but there ist only good Sound but there is absolutely no atmos feeling....I tried Netflix Dolby Promo Videos with the PC but there is no Atmos feeling. I tried to change the position if the arc. I got a rectangular living room. There should be at least a lil bit atmos feeling.

I’ve definitely had different levels of experience based on room - with more convincing 3D audio in a slightly larger square room . And I got a different experience based on Dolby True HD and streaming Atmos. In previous videos I mentioned that streaming atmos is maybe not all that differentiable from 5.1. I’m not sure of the level of audio quality you are getting from the PC. If you have not already perhaps use trueplay to tune. If still not working, and good atmos is what you really want, perhaps return and get a Samsung SB system that I think does Atmos significantly better with 2-4 more ear level channels (with true rear support) and two additional rear upward firing channels. You’ll be giving up the Sonos ecosystem and quality user experience in this case however. Hope you find a solution! Let me know.
Thanks for the video. I tried palying an Atmos sample video file through vlc(apple tv) from a NAS Drive and I am not seeing the atmos logo on the app. I tried the infuse media player app(which supports atmos) aswell from the apple tv still no luck.

Out of curiosity, assuming your Sony is a smart tv, can you get Atmos via the TV Netflix app? Also can you get atmos via any other service like prime or Apple TV+? It used to be at least that some devices don’t support atmos on Netflix. Also I’m assuming you are connecting via e/ARC
I am a little confused, the TV not having eARC is not really a must for Dolby Atmos sound right ?. The Atmos sound alone can be negotiated between the Atmos soundbar and a streaming box or blu ray player connected directly to sound bar; Sound bar HDMI out will only send out a video signal to tv regardless of resolution or source.
eARC is critical for uncompressed Atmos (via Dolby TrueHD) . The Sonos does not have a pass through connection. So you can’t plug your BR player right into the bar. You will need to plug into the tv. So you are at the mercy of the TV on whether it supports eARC. Compressed Atmos not requires ARC. So eARC pass through a are not important if that is what you are aiming at.
Hello. I am having issues getting Dolby Atmos working on my Sonos Arc. I am using the firestick 4k. I have the premium Netflix 4k account. I updated my 4k TV to the latest software. Also I set both the TV and firestick audio settings to Dolby Digital. I made sure to play Netflix movies that support Dolby Atmos like El Camino and Klaus but they just show 5.1. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you. Also just wanted to note that if I set both the TV and firestick audio settings to auto it will use PCM 2.0.

Many modern receivers support Atmos that would let you bypass the TV by plugging the device straight in. And sending only video back to the TV

If you don't have eArc you can buy a hdfury arcana. It's expensive at 180 pounds sterling here in the UK but it did allow me to get the best out of my expensive bose soundbar with one eArc out and 0 hdmi inputs. I bought a tv last year and doesn't support eArc. Not buying a new TV with my current set under 12 months old
I have tv Samsung 2018 QN65Q6FNAF and Sonos Arc. I enjoy the sound but not able to get Dolby Atmos. I know my tv support only dolby digital and this is not enough. Is there a way to get the Atmos with this configuration or I may need a new tv. Thanks!
I have a Sonos arc but Dolby Atmos doesnt work on it. I have the Panasonic Viera TX-47AS650E wich has a HDMI-Arc port but it doesnt seem to work. Is my tv just too old or is something else going on? All the other things you said in this video are fine with my setup. Thanks and great video!
Assuming I have the correct hdmi cables(I think you said they need to be hdmi 2.1), can they Sony xbr900f series tv achieve lossy atmos, or will I need something like the HDfury Arcana?

I’m a fan of your channel and I have a issue/question. I just got a new 2022 LG C2 OLED TV, a Sonos Arc/Sub/SL One speakers, and I got my Sonos Arc connected to the eARC port on my TV via a 2.1 HDMI cable. I am watching & streaming Dolby Atmos content on Prime Video & Netflix via my TV apps, but I’m only getting eARC 5.1 sound through the Sonos system and not Dolby Atmos. The Dolby Atmos settings on my TV are greyed out and the Sonos app is showing that I’m only getting a 5.1 signal when I’m connected to the eARC port on my TV. I tried connecting the Sonos ARC to the TV using a non-eARC hdmi port and I’m able to get Dolby Atmos only through my TV speakers. The Sonos system only works with the TV when I connect to it via the eARC port, but it doesn’t allow for Dolby Atmos. Is there a workaround for this? I hear of others experiencing the same issue with LG OLEDs and the Sonos Arc.
I have all the same equipment - I can look into it. You have to use ARC/eARC port the other HDMI ports are inputs. They don’t send audio out. Do you by chance have a streaming box? Can you see if you get the same issue streaming through that?

I've noticed the Dolby Atmos on the LG TVs is active only when you are using the TV built-in speakers. I would ignore that setting unless you are using TV speakers only. I have LG OLED 55C1 (Beam Gen 2, Gen 3 sub, One SLs), and 77C1 (Arc, dual Gen 3 subs, Fives). I had to change the OLED HDMI output to "Bitstream" when watching cable TV and change from "Auto" to "Pass Through" when watching internet streaming services like Disney+ before I got Atmos to the soundbars. I had to send the unprocessed signal to the soundbar and let it do all the audio work. PCM or Auto setting on the LG OLED may not result in Atmos for the Sonos Arc/Beam Gen 2 soundbars.
Hello Daniel, I have a 3 year old Vizio E60u-D3 which I plan to upgrade this year. However, I am in dilemma to get a $2000 TV that doesn't work with my Apple TV and Sonos Arc Combo. 2021 Vizio P series Quantum X has eARC support but it does come only with DTS Virtual-X Audio support for its Audio output. Do you think eARC will passthrough Dolby Atmos for Apple TV 4K(5th Gen) even though TV it self doesn't support it ?

Help! My TV is LG oled65cx (2020), I'm connecting to the Sonos arc using the cable that came with the soundbar. I've checked all the boxes: eARC turned on etc, Netflix shows Atmos for the show, but when I start it out flashes "Dolby vision" and the Sonos app says Dolby digital plus 5.1. What can I possibly be doing wrong? I have unplugged the hdmi and power chords on both devices while switching to internal speakers in different orders but to no avail. Help?

I have a question. Assume all the following: I have a TV That has ONE ARC HDMI port. I have the Sonos ARC sound bar with one ARC HDMI port. I have the newest 4K AppleTV that streams Dolby Atmos content from either Netflix or Disney+. I have the proper high speed HDMI cables. I have the premium Netflix account. Now...the question. How do I get ARC pass through for all my devices? I assume I plug in the high speed cable from my ARC Soundbar to the ARC port on the TV. Then do I just plug the Apple TV HDMI cable in one of the OTHER REGULAR HDMI ports on the TV? Will this give me Dolby Atmos from the Apple TV box passed through to the ARC Sound bar??
@MrCanadiandad yes if your tv has an ARC port you can use your other tv HDMI ports to pass Atmos. Now remember regular ARC can pass Atmos via Dolby digital + (so Netflix, Disney+). If you want the best Atmos via Dolby True HD (Blu-ray typically) your TV will need eARC if you have a single HDMI bar like ARC. You could also buy HDFury which would give you the option of plugging a blue ray into that device, send the uncompressed audio to the ARC and video to the TV. Link in description.

You can get compressed Atmos (via Netflix etc) not best Atmos via Blu-ray.

Bitstream or Pass Through. Using PCM or Auto on the TV can be hit or miss with Atmos or it might even reduce it down to stereo. I have a 55C1 and 77C1.

Matter of which interface you like better. Apple TV interface is more slick/speedy but once the show is playing I don’t think it really matters.

I had a house party yesterday and bragged about my new sound system only to be shamed!!!! First, my 2sl's kept having bad reception, causing the sound to be choppy from the rears. I unplugged them, attempting to reboot, but it kept happening. On top of that, when the party escalated to singing songs on youtube, while watching youtube I would have to turn the sound bar up to its max, but the audio still wasn't as loud as with Pandora. Do these 2 problems make sense to anyone? Is this a dolby issue or should I turn in my sonos for a samsung??
Sorry to hear this. Has been the opposite of my experience. Sounds like a faulty bar in particular if you are having connection problems with both the SLs

YT videos aren’t professionally mixed so may have lower volume in general. Is the YT volume issue unique to Sonos for you?
@@neverenoughtech No it was the same with samsung 550 sound bar, which is what I'm replacing. Another issue I've realized is that of course my tv isn't eArc compatible, it only has an arc hdmi port. I've rarely seen Dolby atmos on the app when watching movies, via my nvidia shield, or netflix. Which brings me to a bigger question if I don't have blue ray nor eArc compatible tv, is it worth it to get a sonos product, until I upgrade my tv, which won't be anytime soon.

I have an older TV that does not allow Dolby Atmos to pass through from a HDMI input to my HDMI ARC port.
Therefore I need my Apple TV 4K to connect directly to my speakers using either AirPlay 2 or HDMI input (which the Sonos does not have).
I'd prefer to use Sonos if possible, so I can extend the system in the future by adding a sub and the new Era 300 rear Atmos speakers.
If this is possible, would latency be an issue? Or would it be just as good as using HomePods?
No you will need to plug the Apple TV into the tv and then connect the Beam to the tv via ARC - regarding your old tv problem. You can buy the HD Fury Arcana which sends the audio to the bar and video to the tv from an external source. Or you could update the TV. TVs with eARC are much cheaper these days.

I've got a sony950h with the sonos arc using the sonos hdmi cable that comes with the arc to connect to earc. My Netflix account supports atmos for 6 underground (i see it on the tv menu screen as dolby atmos available) yet i can't see atmos being active on my sonos app when watching any atmos content on Netflix. In the sonos systems info menu on the app it indicates 'Audio In: Dolby Digital Plus 5.1'. What am I missing?
Dolby Digital plus is capable of playing Atmos. To confirm ... you are not seeing the Atmos logo on your now playing screen?

Hi there. I have an LG OLED CX TV with a Sonos Arc. I want to stream Atmos TrueHD movies from my PC however some research suggests that I will need an Nvidia Shield to allow lossless TrueHD Atmos. Without an Nvidia Shield the Sonos Arc downsamples the audio stream and removes the Atmos metadata. However the Sonos Arc only has a single HDMI connection and the LG CX only has a single eArc HDMI connection.
So... do you know if I would get lossless Atmos if I connected the eArc port on the TV to the Sonos Arc and then the Nvidia Shield to a separate HDMI port on the TV?

Can you look for Atmos through the smart TV? Then you will know if it’s an Apple TV issue. Want to make sure DA is enabled on the Apple TV
Atmos shows on TV and Apple when internal speakers are selected, only when output is changed to HDMI does atmos not show.
I think the LG OLED C9 was the first model that upgraded the HDMI ARC to eARC. You C8 might show Atmos with internal speakers only; but, it can only output ARC from the HDMI connection. You will need a newer LG OLED starting with the C9 models if you want Atmos from HDMI connection to the Arc/Beam Gen 2 soundbars.

Gonna be honest not overly familiar with your system so I would hate to tell you how much sound you might be losing. And I don’t have really have any great insights on AVRs. Haven’t really made an effort to familiarize myself in that space. Yet.
I’ll stay in my lane and provide my thoughts about Sonos.
It’s a nice solid well rounded system. You would switch to Sonos if you are looking to minimize. Reduce wires and clutter and I suppose up your MultiRoom audio potential - get more options for Wi-Fi-level streaming. You will want to augment with surrounds and a sub for peak Sonos sound. Makes a big difference in the Sonos world.
Keep in mind Sonos doesn’t have pass through so if your TV does not support eARC you will need a $200 accessory to get peak Atmos

It's a expensive system at nearly 2k for the sonos but all the reviews are it's worth it.

Have you actually proved this with Apple TV 4K? I have an LG C9 and Samsung HW-Q90r and no matter how I connect the device to the hardware, I get Dolby Atmos but with AV lag or using the Apple Music app, it will crash playing audio. Apple support reckon their engineers are ‘looking into it’!!! What do you think?

i have a PC capable of 4k video and a NAD T778 surround amp(Also ATMOS)
i mostly watch 4 k with surround(Incl ATMOS) via my PC running to my T778 and T778 and TV

Any cable labeled high speed/ ultra high speed with Ethernet will get you lossless Atmos - look for “premium certified cables”

You only need eARC for lossless Atmos. Netflix Atmos. If you have some blue rays or gaming consoles then you can buy the Arcana HD Fury. It sends audio to the bar and video to the TV

ARC transfers lossy Atmos (e.g, Netflix) via Dolby digital +. eARC can handle BR style lossless Atmos via Dolby True HD.
So yes both can handle Atmos but eARC is needed for the best Atmos. Hope that helps

It shows both kinds of Atmos on the app. YT does not do Atmos. Easiest way to see on app is find Atmos source on Netflix or Disney plus
I’m turning 40 next year so - that’s coming - I usually find my wife complains about new HT equipment . She falls in love with the big TVs. Cares nothing for good sound

By the way, I checked both Netflix one through my Samsung TV directly and through Amazon fire stick. Both on 6 Underground are showing 5.1 🤔 I also searched "dolby atmos" movies on Amazon Prime app and even though it is showing UHD I still can't get Dolby showing on the app. I ordered on Amazon a 2.1 hdmi cable will try it shortly but with the one that came in sonos box it is still just showing "TV".

There is not a direct USB input into the bar but yes would work with say an NVIDIA shield

Hello I have a tv which has earc feature. When I was watching doldy atmos trailer in UA-cam, I can only see ‘Dolby digital plus 2.0’ but not ‘Dolby atmos’ in my Sonos apps. I changed the tv setting to earc mode but the problem was still there.
Is it the problem of the UA-cam trailer? Is it a must that I have to watch Netflix so ‘Dolby atmos’ will pop out on my Sonos apps?? Sorry that I don’t have Netflix subscription at the moment.

Which TV are you using. I’ve found that Samsung TVs can be temperamental about what they are outputting. Like will default back to Dolby digital instead of dolby digital + (sound -> expert settings). Also try refreshing the now playing page if you have not already. Sometimes you need to close it and open it for the DA logo to appear.

I’d say go for it I don’t think an ARC tv will diminish the two subs. I suspect you’ll get a eARC TV at some point. Also you can buy the HDFURY Arcana to pass lossless audio to the bar.

Hey, I just bought an Arc yesterday to pair with my Samsung TU7000 55" 2020 TV, it has eARC and in the TV's settings it says Atmos is on and it's using eARC properly. But, when I play Dolby Atmos supported movies on Disney+ app on my TV, the Sonos app still won't display "Dolby Atmos" when it seemingly should. Any idea why it isn't showing Atmos?
I’m not entirely sure why. It could be some bug on Samsung’s software. I have an Arc and a q70 2019 samsung tv (no eARC) and I get atmos from Disney+ no problem. I suggest refreshing the now playing page. If that does not work assume Samsung’s fault. The Q950T soundbar causes shows that should read atmos to not on Netflix. I’ve given up figuring out why.

You Won’t be eligible for uncompressed atmos from Blu-ray’s (Dolby True HD) . You will get Netflix style (Dolby Digital +) Atmos which is not nearly as good

I think I would go arc first (then sub at some point). Then take the beam and use it in another room for music or some other tv. It’s what I would do.

Seriously considering purchasing the Sonos ARC. I have the Samsung Q800T (Q850T Costco) 8K TV. My question: I’m fully invested in Apple ecosystem. Q800T severely limits the output level when I pair my AirPods Pro (pages of Google complaints). Is it possible to pair the AirPods Pro to the Sonos ARC while watching TV. My hearing at 72 years young in fading and AirPods Spatial firmware upgrade is fantastic. Problem when paired to TV volume is limited to 16. One plus for the Q800T is their two channel audio as you can listen to AirPods, without cutting sound to sound bar output. Appreciate your reply, great video. Thank you,
Arc does not extend sound to headphones unfortunately. Though the Arc may be besides the point as it’s likely you can just pair your airpods with the tv directly. Maybe that’s what you mean by pairing to tv volume - in which case there may not be a good solution - didn’t bring my AirPods Pro on my trip. Have lots of headphones

Help! I have a samsung Q80t from costco and recently purchased a sonos arc. I am able to get Dolby Atmos from the amazon prime and netflix native apps, but not from the HBOmax and Disney+ native apps. What is going on?
Hard to say. Which device are you using to stream. For whatever reason Atmos is not supported for any given service on every streaming device
@@neverenoughtech I am using the native apps on the Samsung TV. I find it strange that it works perfectly on Amazon Prime and Netflix apps, but not Disney+ and HBOmax native apps. Very frustrating! Is waiting for Samsung or Disney+/HBOmax to push out an update the only thing I can do? I was hoping to watch the new Snyder Cut of JL in 4k with Dolby Atmos!
You may want to research some streaming boxes if Atmos is really important

I believe they do support it now - my 2019 5 series started supporting it a few weeks ago with the latest update - they should have a list of all the updated models on their site, or you can see in the audio settings that it says ARC/eARC now

I can get atmos on my Sonos arc using the Netflix streaming on my tv but I can’t get it to work from my PlayStation playing a blue ray atmos disk! Any ideas why? Cheers
Out of curiosity did you go to sound settings and select an uncompressed audio format. Have not tried on PS yet. Also make sure you are using high speed HDMI cables for the PS connection. My best immediate thoughts ...

Phone should not matter, issue would be with source equipment or TV
@@neverenoughtech hmm. Got a lgc1 oled 2021 model. Cannot activate the dolby atmos function. I'm gonna research this a bit. Also asume this shouldn't be a problem. Trueplay is a apple exclusive feature,i know that. But atmos must work on android also indeed. Source is ps5 with mostly blurays.

So i have a ub820 4k player, and lg c8 which has no eArc. If i play a 4k disc with atmos is it true atmos or dolby digital plus? I have a q80r soundbar which says i am getting atmos whenever i play atmos from disc
If you plug directly into the soundbar you can get lossless Atmos. Just make sure to go to your BR player settings and make sure it is outputting an uncompressed stream. Good luck!
NeverEnoughTech yeah i changed it to bitstream in order for atmos to play. Ill have to see if uncompressed is available
If you are seeing Atmos from bar out of a BR player, it’s a good chance you are getting your uncut pure Atmos
Hi , I found this video very informative. I have Optomo 4k shot throw projector and it have HDI ARC (not eARC). I am planning to buy Sonos Arc sound bar, If my understaing is correct, then it should work with my projector correct? I am using amazon fire 4k for the streaming. Please correct me if I am wrong.
@Lakshmi Ashokkumar You won’t be able to get uncompressed audio (DTS:X or Dolby True HD) but you will be able to get Netflix/Disney+ style atmos (via Dolby digital +).

Love your videos! You mentioned that different streaming boxes may or may not support Dolby Atmos on lets say, Netflix. What if I am using Netflix that is built into my smart TV? (Sony XBR55X900E) Is there a greater chance that it will support Dolby Atmos? Keep the Sonos Arc videos coming! I'm interested in getting the 5.1.2 setup
So I went ahead and connected my Sonos Arc to the my Sony X800G and got Atmos logo - no problem. I am thinking you are pretty safe.

After watched two of your videos I went for Sonos Arc....I'm expecting to receive next week.....how ever Now I'm worry cause DTS is not processed by SONOS Arc ....any Advice?
Do you have a lot of DTS blue rays? Otherwise everything else is Dolby and LPCM which in both cases you are covered

How do we hook it up to a Roku TV
The normal way would be through the TV - HDMI connection and Arc via the HDMI-ARC port. You don’t need an eARC enabled TV to support Atmos via streaming. Let me know if this doesn’t makes sense.
