Fannie Flagg made me laugh everytime I watched Match Game. Ow I am watching it in repeats and she still makes me laugh. Thank you so much Fannie, you are the best. Love from Canada 🇨🇦❤
if you watch some / most of these shows , you will see that RICHARD DAWSON shared his cigarettes with the ladies that sat next to him on the lower tier -- sometimes gene rayburn would ask about it -- the reply usually was that ""they like sharing "".....
I'm not amused at all about the shots at Garbo. Garbo is the most beautiful women ever, who liked her privacy, especially after she was stabbed in the back by Hollywood in 1941. Yet, no one could compete with her in her day when the camera lens focused on the face and emotions displayed.. an amazing talent this woman was.....
I'm with you on this one. Especially when the guest star Richard Dawson starts off relaying false information regarding Greta Garbo. Garbo did not retire in 1935. Miss Garbo's final film was released in 1941. Also Miss Garbo never announced to the public that she was retiring from films. In 1945 Garbo did give an interview in which she spoke of the possibly of acting in some film projects that were in the works. In fact, Miss Garbo consented to do a film in 1949 that did not pan out because of problems with the investors. Miss Garbo even did a screen test in 1949 for the film. It just wasn't in the stars for Garbo to return to films. Hedda Hopper ran into Miss Garbo in a restaurant in the 1950's. Hedda stated that she perceived that Miss Garbo may have been a little scared to return to films as she had a legend to live up to and she no longer appeared the same physically.
Dear Chris and Jack--lighten up you guys. This is a game show, not an A+E biography. Fanny Flagg is a comic and this what they do. It's brilliant!!!!!!!
chris galilei I totally agree. I feel my temper Rising w/ each additional pun, put-down & cheap shot. It infuriates me to see such a great Lady like Greta Garbo attempt to be made light of. Her legacy will outlast all of the panel put together. As her Fan, I felt I should speak up.
The shows don't look anything like each other! Price is Right had two contestants standing behind two bright green podiums. There were free standing displays with various game boards on them. Price didn't have any celebrities seated across from the contestants. Price had tile floors not shaggy carpets. Sorry the sets aren't a match in any way, shape or form.
To both Jakes: you were on the right track, Mr. Locker. It's actually Yiddish, which is a language (actually more of a dialect) that combines Hebrew, German, and a few other Eastern European tongues. Per Urban Dictionary: "Yiddish phrase. exclamation of surprise, incredulity, or simply used to emphasize a statement. often used when kvetching. alt. spelling: oy gevaldt" (Kvetching = Yiddish word for "complaining"
Evoshomar- no she did NOT retire in 1936, but 1941, following the disastrous failure of "Two faced woman". I've been studying Garbo a very long time- I know what I'm talking about.
Evo Shomar Her last film was "TWO-FACED WOMAN, " in 1941. It co-starred ; Melvyn Douglas, Constance Bennett, & the one & only Ruth Gordon. It would be pretty hard to do that if you retired in 1936.
Actually, she didn't exactly retire. She knew that her real worth to MGM was in the European market. Things being what they were she did the admirable thing and let MGM out of her contract. LB Mayer once said that he "would rather have Garbo's handshake than anyone else's signature."

Fannie was my favorite on these Match Games - she's hilarious!!
This episode of Match Game is on Buzzer right now! Enjoying every minute.
Garbo was the greatest and her privacy is her business.
That Fannie Flagg she was so funny and so silly . She sure had everyone including Gene cracked up laughing .
Garbo left hollywood in 41 not 35..............
Robin Lindqvist Thanks for making that point. It was a truly Stupid mistake !
She left in 42 according to her Niece
if you watch some / most of these shows , you will see that RICHARD DAWSON shared his cigarettes with the ladies that sat next to him on the lower tier -- sometimes gene rayburn would ask about it -- the reply usually was that ""they like sharing "".....
miss Garbo, was the best and the most beautiful woman.
Flagg's mannerisms of Greta are excellent!!!!! LOL @ Ay Gavalt isn't Swedish! :P I wonder if Greta watched this...
Probably when Charles was directing a play on Broadway

@chris galelei It's woman - singular. Women is plural - to mean more than one. Learn the difference.
Fannie does look like Garbo.
I think I heard her say: "I vant to be alone"....but I'm not sure.
thats so true.... thank you for the information, she retired in 1941
John Lang the correct quote is I want to be let alone.
Thanks...best wishes.
I wonder if this set was recycled for The Price is Right. It’s a different color scheme here, but the overall look is identical.
probably was since it was rebuilt in the late 70s and both were produced by the same guy

Ninotchka came out in '39
No photographs please...
The "sigh" while "Garbo" was writing her answer was just priceless: the epitome of the bored Hollywood starlet.

If Fannie Flagg is Garbo, Rosie O'Donnell is Cleopatra.
And do you think Cleopatra was supposed to look like Elizabeth Taylor? 😂😂
Did he just say Greta retired from the movies in 1935? Not correct. She retired in 1941, the year she made "Two Faced Woman." Hilarious though.
Came here from for Garbo. BUT IS THIS THE SNATCH GAME??
Had to look her up after the untucked reference.
I forgot all about Richard Dawson. Lol, I knew that wasn't the real Greta Garbo she would never agree to do this

I've been studying Garbo a very long time- I know what I'm talking about.
No
What! No Charles Nelson Reilly?
How dare you...
Wait I know this game I watch this game segment in ru Paul's show
Richard and Fannie were so funny.
They really were. Played off each other so well
The male contestant looks like Baba Booey.
I was thinking more Avery Schreiber.
oi kavult (oi kah-vault) a Jewish word that someone uses when making a mistake or being upset or mad.
Oy Gevalt
Who's the young actor at the first?
Robert Urich - he starred on "Soap" and "Vega$" in the late 70's.
Steve was kinda hunky.
70’s clothes...what were we thinking?
It was that time period, plus some of the clothes has come back in style.
😂 😂
@rlrshepherdstown Course, with Gene, that didn't take much! Great stuff.
Fannie Flagg for President
I second that emotion!
she retired in 1936

Omg how could anyone stand brett
