DJI Mini 3 ND Freewell Filters for Beginners 💪

- The Camera on DJI's Mini 3 Pro Drone has a wide-open f1.7 fixed aperture, which means it lets in a ton of light into the camera's image sensor which is great for night flying but not ideal for bright daylight flying. A fixed aperture means you can't adjust it to block out excess light, so ND filters are a must-have for filming videos with this drone! In this video, I will explain how to set up your DJI Mini3 (and Air2s, Mini2, Mavic Air2, Mavic Pro, Autel Lite, Autel Nano & Nano Plus) cameras to film with ND filters! Love it man, great explanation of nd filters and you explained it better than anyone I have seen. My only question is on a sunny day, how do you know to use a 32 or 64?

Yes as a matter of fact I'm "trying" to get a set of variable ND filters thinking it would be simple to dial in the correct setting to obtain the correct shutter speed

Goo tip to know which ND filter you should use . But once I know what filter to use it's better to set the video back to Auto . The light is always changing when you are moving high on a drone.... Let the camera made the fine adjustment to get perfect exposure . You will still get the motion blur effect .
It's very noticeable when a camera changes exposure on the go, normally you wouldn't want that effect

Good video, however, you should use ND filters when taking pictures if you want that motion blur in the photos as well. That part should also be explained to new users.
Polarized ND Filters:
So you really need to set to Landscape or Portrait? There is no ND filter setting that will work for both Landscape and Portraitshooting, as I am constantly shooting BOTH in the same flight for different reasons.
Is that possible or I would need to land and switch the filter dial each time I switch Landscape and Portrait shooting?

I have a Mini 3 and a couple of sets of Freewell ND filters. I prefer the look of no ND filters unless I'm looking for the rare instance of creating a speedy blur look close to the ground. Otherwise, the ND filters blur and take away too much detail for me, even in the center of the image. It's like going from 4k to 720p. And I do use the 180 rule when the filters are in place. I just don't like them 99 percent of the time.

You put the old filter upside down, otherwise it fits and you can close the filter case

Did you say you don't need a filter if taking photos? If so why not?
Most photos need to be sharp and clean, unless you're looking for motion blur in your photos!

Hmm disagree with not using filters for photos. I’m a photographer and use filters on video and stills. I also use them with my mini 3 pro. I picked up all the freewells and a wide angle. Cheers from Canader eh!
