I have a 2006 Yamaha raptor I modded the beast with a plus 5mm stroker crank 105.5mm piston and cylinder with a stage 3 cam plus 3mm intake valve and plus 2mm exhaust valve. Efi controller, freed up the exhaust system and air intake, full Hinson clutch basket and springs, 22 tall out back and 23" tall up front because I love my back woods and trail riding. Plus it's geared up a bit, at 75mph in 4th gear I can pull it up then shift in 5th and it's just stupid. I'm a 46 year old combat veteran who has been riding since the days of the atc 90. I was 6 when I started on a motorcycle. I don't hunt or fish my passion is riding! And snowmobiling as well.
I bought my daughter a used Yamaha blaster and modded that, it goes around 70mph on the GPS. Full port n polish 34mm mikuni carb stock was 28mm. Increased compression to the limits for pump gas, it will eat my brothers Polaris scrambler 400cc 2-stroke on take off. Power to weight ratio is key 😉
Just a heads up, when using vp110, if you use it for 2 stroke engines, it tends to separate the oil and gas after settling. This has been my experience and a few other UA-camrs
It seems like a beast. Do you know what’s causing it to shut off when you let off the throttle? It seems like maybe the idol might be set just a TAD low so when you let off it drops the RPMs too low, but could be something else. Either way this thing seems FAST, like “0-kill yourself in 2.6 seconds” fast
@Matt Wilson the entire raptor is one of the more complex quads actually, but this one is coming along, and it’s very close to being one of the sweetest I’ve seen anybody build on UA-cam

Tip of the day. Unpainted plastics with the white lines from stress can be removed with a heat gun. Warm it up, don’t overheat and the white goes away.
I had a super nice 05 years ago, mildly built it myself and tbh it was a torque monster and plenty fast especially on trails. The 660s got discredited cuz the 700 came out right after.
I have both my yfz would pull on my trx a little but not much. Not anymore now that I have a built motor, intake , full RP exhaust. Now it blows circles around the yfz

I want to see yamaha blaster's. These little things are cheap as fuck and tons of aftermarket parts and there fun ass hell in the trails. Im a grown man and i still enjoy a yamaha blaster from time to time
A lot of the high-end custom exhausts get real close to the aftermarket aluminum oil tanks also and let them heat up a lot so most of us people wrap our heater type with heat wrap and it helps a lot. It's nice to have that extra oil capacity with them aluminum tanks but it's not nice to have them heat up LOL

You should really get some loctite or permatex 518 anaerobic gasket sealer. It won't clog up oil screens and passage ways like excess silicone can if it goes to the wrong place. Ktm used something similar on their RFS engines and it's my go-to sealer now
Here's another question. So carbs super clean jetted etc. Valves been done. Checked most everything I can figure out. But at the very first lil bit of the throttle when push it. It boggs and misfire or pops some. What could that be. If I make sure I get on it it seems fine. Also if I just barley press throttle and does that n let off it wants to stall or will stall usually like not as responsive as it should be I don't believe . .any ideas ? Cdi issues stator issues ? Adjusting carbs better ?

Make sure you are using the right setting for audio output on the gopro.. not sure what setting it should be on 😅 so try them all hahaha but I run purple panda too

hey just throwing this out there but your missing the bearing for the one way starter gear. it slides on the crankshaft after the washer you installed that is part of your play issue.
Man that thing runs good I also have a Raptor 660 I've been building ground up all winter it to is a 686 11 to one piston though stage 2 hotcam hope to be riding it within the next month

You would have to take it apart and check the stuff out. Intake and exhaust yes can make it pretty fast by improving that airflow with proper jetting 🤙
Not 110 that shit is more for cars you need to run mr12 or mrx02 for the most performance out of your machine talking anywhere from 2-4 hp increase over 110

The red rtv doesn’t provide the necessary clearance, also should be Moto Seal (grey) or Yama Bond to prevent it from flaking off internally and plugging up the oil strainers (the big one in the case and the one in the oil reservoir on the return hose.
Im glad you said that because me and mike were talking about it changing the clearance as well but we also found the needle bearing for the starter clutch is missing!!! Also thank you bro! 👊✊🤙
@@StupidFastJohn nice. I learned a lot from doing mine last year. When I replaced my starter clutch the new kit came with a brass bushing instead.....but I wondered if I should’ve kept my needle bearing. Haha.
