    Good video and thank you for putting this up. Did you end up figuring out if there are any options to manage the device from the Ring app? Like acknowledging or silencing and alarm?

    Sorry, not clear yet if you still need the CO listener to integrate this into the Ring security system? I don't have a protect plan since I live in Argentina. Thanks

    Hi Bryce, thanks for the video, very helpful. I've been trying to install First Alert ZCOMBO alarm with Qolsys IQ Panel 2+ and haven't been successful. Qolsys doesn't seem to recognize it. Any suggestions how to make it work ?

    Chances are, if you can reach up and touch the alarm, by the time smoke activates it, the fire is pretty big already. Always mount your smoke detector on the ceiling.

    Since these aren't interconnected, would adding them to ring trigger them all at once or would it be better to add them to a separate hub that will do that?

    Carbon monoxide is NOT heavier than air. It diffuses uniformly in air. The easiest way to add carbon monoxide detection to an old system is the plug in kind which puts it close to the floor, hence the confusion.

      Thanks for the correction! I had always heard that, but turns out it's actually slightly lighter than air. Everything I can find when researching indicates that best placement is still the ceiling or up high on the walls.

    Do you need an alarm Listener for this to communicate with the Ring alarm base or is it a stand alone detector to alarm base?

    • @shawnbailey3553
      @shawnbailey3553 Рік тому

      These are stand alone. You pair each one with your Ring base station directly. No listener needed.

    Will it work like a normal detector without the ring alarm? I bought it already and I’m wondering if I need to return it. Is the ring alarm app free for I phones without a monthly fee? Thanks

  • @Marcelodsny
    @Marcelodsny 8 місяців тому

    Hello. Do you need a fire permit? Ring fire alarm listener requires a fire permit that has an annual fee.

  • @andychan1087

    Can these alarms be interconnected? Many states require the alarms to interconnect thus sounding the other alarms once one is set off.

    • @BruhMan_5
      @BruhMan_5 2 роки тому +1

      From all of my research it would depend on what they mean by interconnected. These are z wave connected so they connect to a hub not each other, so if they are connected to a hub and one goes off they will all go off, but if the zwave network is offline then from my understanding only the one will go off.

    • @shawnbailey3553
      @shawnbailey3553 Рік тому

      I came here to ask this. It’s been difficult to confirm that if one is triggered, all will go off (if connected to the network). During the test, only the one you pressed the button for goes off.

    So no way to connect this alarm to RING unless you also have the $250 Ring Base Station. I have my Ring doorbell and flood cam connected directly to my WiFi. Ring will NOT allow you to connect this device unless you use THEIR proprietary base station / WiFi network....

      At this point you might as well mod the smoke detector and have it plugged into a 3vdc adapter

    • @AJDIYNetwork
      @AJDIYNetwork Рік тому

      @@MissSofiaRose I have Nest alarm, but it does not integrate with ring. I was looking to purchase this product since it does work with ring, but I have heard of the batteries don’t last too long(it starts to chirp at 80% battery life and reminds you to replace them, which I find absolutely ridiculous). I like the nest, but at 120 a pop(already purxhased 5 ), it can be costly. Also, I have heard they are no longer making them, though selling them still at the stores.

    If you’re self managed with Ring, this whole device is pointless if it doesn’t send alerts to your phone via the base station. Boo. 👎🏼
