The branching cutscenes could be the reason that you get NOTHING if you break any record on Play Now mode. Not even an acknowledgement during timeouts.
I never understand why NBA 2K keeps using the name like MP. Especially corny nicknames such as "The Chosen One" or "Junior," but the announcers say the actual name during the game. Just like Madden, 2K copy and pasting old features into new games still

2k probably had access to the number of people that actually won 12 rings, i'd guess that number is less than a 100, so they decided that wasting time on that animation was probably not worth it
