I feel the same way everytime someone asks me how my Schecter sounds 'clean' ... it's just plain not right to even ask me that... I keep an acoustic around for that... lmao
Weird question, I know, but is there any reason why you sometimes use this guitar and sometimes the other one, or do you just use whatever you feel like at the moment?
A bit late, but I'll still answer your question: Retuning your strings will, after a while, snap them. The neck also starts to bend a bit if you tune it too often. That's why people have one guitar in E standard, one in Eb and so on
I wonder why Rocksmith does not use the standard tab system... I also think the display looks more confusing. Anyway I'd love to have that game. Maybe it's not that hard to learn
I actually found it easier to read on rocksmith. Normal tabs aren't bad at all, especially for bass, but this is easier, atleast to me, because it shows you the fret number, and the proximity it's at on the neck as well. I've learned alot faster through this than just going through my dad's tab collection of literally thousands of songs lol It's also nice to have all of the lessons and mini games, and tracks ready to go when you are. Within a week, I got atleast 5 songs above 80% mastery (even Knights of Cydonia, which I'm quite proud of lol)
Yes... I guess it's more fun having it on the screen than just a black and white sheet, but I guess i'll get troubled when it zooms in and out... I'll get the money to buy it!!
correct me if i'm wrong (i don't even play guitar but may start learning it from this) but would this be a good song to start out with if you wanna learn how to play? it doesn't look nearly as complicated as a lot of the other songs i have seen.
i dont believe this game makes you understand playing guitar -_-.. i mean, how would you understand about keys, notes, pentatonic scale, blues scale, etc.. well it helps you memorize chords, but how about the complicated ones?
i bought this game myself 3 days ago and i can tell you. it has a very therough lesson menu teaching you a bunch of different stuff. i only just started so i have only been working with the first 4 out of maybe 50 tutorials teaching me about notes, switching, sustains and bends, that's just the basics of the basics. It can deffinately teach you some of the more complicated stuff.
Zemas Nah no complicated stuff in this. Nothing regarding economy picking, sweep picking, sweeped arpeggios etc. It will teach to a degree the basics of basics to get a beginner started. However, most beginners will find themselves at a brick wall using the software all the time when they go to play outside the game. Your better keeping you eyes off a screen and concentrating on your finger positioning and training your ears. This way you learn songs without prompts on a screen and you can perfect your timing. I have this game, but its just for fun. Played for 10+ years and when I look at this game, I think it could teach me to mimic other songs, but nothing else, nothing regarding becoming a versatile guitarist.
have u seen sometimes even tho u press and play the notes/chords when marked, its shows miss??? why is that, happens to me sometimes and still confused as hell, or sometimes its shows me that im 1 fret low or up :O
My guitar doesn't like this tuning for some stupid reason.I play the note correctly, but the game only reads it if I play it a second before i'm supposed to,and sometimes it doesn't even read the fucking notes,it just fails them for me,and it's really pissing me the fuck off.Can someone explain please!!!?
***** So you're saying it's just out of tune for him? I have three guitars, two have fixed bridges, my first guitar was an Ibanez with a trem system and I didn't have much issue with detuning. I just had to tune all the strings to the rough ballpark so that the tension was roughly where it should be then lightly finetune it to the correct pitch without going horribly out of tune. But hardtailing isn't difficult at all, very simple, not even an operation, it's useful and easy.
Derly Martinez I have a tremelo too only the vintage 2 pivots my solution is to tune it mutiple times before the song...the only song i wont reconise for me is arials for some reason
Your probably detuning to C with 9's or 10's fitted to your guitar. They are too loose and flappy, this will cause every note to be sharp when fretted. Either play with a lighter touch or fit some heavy gauge strings on it. By the way, RS hit detection sucks anyway, as long as it sounds ok thats all that should matter.
He is right , take an easy song that you like , play it everyday until you can play it perfectly . Do not go on another song before you are good with the other one , you gonna learn faster that way have a great day fellow guitar player!
Is this just the actual audio for the song or are you playing it well? I legit want to know if this game makes people good at guitar but cant tell whats bs or not on youtube for the most of it
+BulbasaurUseVinewhip i did not see anybody reply to your question, that is the actual audio from the game, the game will make you a better guitar player, however if you are a complete novice, without any outside influence this game will instill bad habits that will be very hard to correct as your skills grow, because some are concentrating on just hitting the notes and not concentrating on using the proper technique to hit those notes.
It's part of the game, he's just playing it well. This game can IMPROVE your skill, but i would say look up lessons for guitar. You don't want to be the guy who plays guitar but only remembers how to play songs instead of being able to play on the spot.
I would say this game teaches you technique by accident if you are anal (like me) about sounding exactly right when you play it without the game and you wonder "how do i do this right?"
+Acps_199610_L I just rest my bottom of my palm (next to the wrist) just above the bridge of the strings so they are muted but not completely flat which is what happens when you place your palm too centre in the strings. I can't do fast chord palm mutes like in Run To The Hills very well but other than that it's not hard for me.
I got one question , can you play with out looking at the screen , i am planning to get this game and all the people i know who play guitar keep saying not to buy it as it might bring loads of bad habits and i wont be able to play guitar with out looking at the screen.
Can you tell me what is a standarised name for this tunning? Google can't seem to find an answer for this, Drop C is just coming up in results, this game have some weird tunning nomenclature.
Hey man, thanks for all the uploads, been enjoying quite a few playing along with you. Could I be so bold as to request some more songs from my favorite band of all time - Megadeth? :) I'm surprised at the lack of Metal songs on Rocksmith, even on UA-cam. Have yet to find any Opeth, or much Dio, or Judas Priest or even Korn :(
+Ben Graci Best thing rocksmith does for you is give you encouragement to pick up a guitar and play, cos you can learn any song you want if you have it on pc, but yeah, it definately improves your guitar skills if you stick with it for a few months, its just a little wonky since if all you do is play songs on guitar your technical skills and scale stuff will suffer. Still id recommend it, had it for around 3 years and every 6-7 months ive noticed a huge difference.
+PsychoTone look up lessons as well though. Just learning songs make it that you only know songs. If you want to pick up a guitar and be able to play whatever you want and do it well, than look up lessons. I've started learning guitar on this game and it only improved timing and memorising songs, i haven't got much help with being able to play anything on the spot from this game, yet. It's a fun game for improving skill or memorising songs though, and there are lesson in it as well.
+Kole Hunt it doesn't teach music theory at all, that's what I think is a ripoff for people who think this will teach them how to play. no way a video game could teach theory lmao
+Riff Repeater i agree, ive played toxicity by a tab and the notes look 100% accurate, havent played this game yet though i just ordered it and ive been looking up videos about it
For me atleast, instead of playing on fret 12 and 14 for a certain part, I have to play on frets 10 and 12 instead, respectively. I tuned my guitar assuming that it was way out of tune, but it wasn't. It could be my guitar, it's pretty trash, but it just off for me.
Cool but wtf is up with these tabs?? All kinds of messed up. This is definitely not how it's played. And I know being that I've perfected that damn album and have studied countless videos of daron playing this. And I've been to every LA show front row in front of Daron just to make sure I could study
Thanks for posting these, its fun to play the alt part along with you and have the tab incase I forget the flow.
This song is kicking my ass right now
Breaking bad shirt... Master of guitar... Playing System Of A Down... You are the definition of cool
master of guitar,are you serious?
James Hetfield_ no I just mean he's good, obviously he's not Jimmy Hendrix but still he is a good guitarist
Meh......
+James Hetfield_ master of posting Rocksmith videos!
+Low-Life Class lmao you obviously don't play guitar
Something just doesn't seem right about using a Gretch for metal
right??? its like using a warlock to play jazz.. you can probably do it but its just plain not right...
I feel the same way everytime someone asks me how my Schecter sounds 'clean' ... it's just plain not right to even ask me that... I keep an acoustic around for that... lmao
+4malulz I have 2 schecters I feel ya bro xD My mate has a les paul and bullies me with clean tones constantly
PsychoTone That is usually when I decide to practice my pick squeals. lmao
Plectro les pauls are amazing for metal
thanks for the videos, you are the best, i wish i played like you one day
You should have had seeds in this video.
You got a new sub! Masterful performance!
2:43 - 2:48 After this point, you should yell "IT'S TIME TO BREAK STUFF!"
xD
Did they once say that live or something?
I find myself here 2 years later. Why?
awesome job man! and very cool t-shirt!
Yes, finally a soad dlc, now hopefully theremwill be a thrash dlc
Wow! Smashed it.
Amazing Job man! I hope I can do as well with my Fender Strat.
Weird question, I know, but is there any reason why you sometimes use this guitar and sometimes the other one, or do you just use whatever you feel like at the moment?
Eh whatever I feel like at the time. But mostly just laziness to change tunings :p
thenewnoelisoncruz lol I have a guitar tuned Drop D, one tuned D standard one tuned E standard and one tuned drop C
Owen McMullen why
A bit late, but I'll still answer your question:

I wonder why Rocksmith does not use the standard tab system... I also think the display looks more confusing. Anyway I'd love to have that game. Maybe it's not that hard to learn
Once it clicks you'll be surprised you thought that.
I actually found it easier to read on rocksmith.

Awesome!
Yes... I guess it's more fun having it on the screen than just a black and white sheet, but I guess i'll get troubled when it zooms in and out... I'll get the money to buy it!!
Yeah, the zooming does get troublesome, but after putting enough hours in, you get used to it.
You are so nice person
You're awesome man!
by the way as always great job
genial … yo sigo aun en la practica…
Súper
man I cant keep up with all the dlc for this they must be making a killing on the dlc for this
I wish I can be as good as you one day:)
Buy rocksmith you will be if you play it enough lol
@Zemas the songs adapt at how well you play
Damn, that just looks confusing to me,lol. Good job man
Good Job Man ...

I do it with red string on bottom because that’s TAB reading
sic man!
so cool
what applications are you using ?
i love how the lyrics disappear in your shirt.
I thought i was the only one
i like your hisenberg shirt.
Heisenberg t-shirt, rep for You
I played along for fun and realized I play really weird.
Hi, how do you edit the video to combine you and the Rocksmith screen? Do you have a link to such tutorial? Please let me know. Thank you.
Look for a "Mask" tutorials for Sony Vegas Studio.
correct me if i'm wrong (i don't even play guitar but may start learning it from this) but would this be a good song to start out with if you wanna learn how to play? it doesn't look nearly as complicated as a lot of the other songs i have seen.
If you don't mind drop tuning :)
don't even know what that is x)

does it have a floyd rose tremolo? that would explain it
Gerardo Lopez Yeah, but I don't see how that's the problem, the tremolo is very common with Fender Stratocastors, which is the guitar I have.
***** So you're saying it's just out of tune for him?
I have three guitars, two have fixed bridges, my first guitar was an Ibanez with a trem system and I didn't have much issue with detuning. I need this damn game, too bad the cable is so expensive. Good old tabs will have to do, sucks being poor.
Same Dood
amazon has the game for 42 US dollars, added speakers to reduce lag can be anywhere from 65 to 100 (including the game in those prices)
What is the D in "D drop C" tuning? I know drop C is everything is a whole step down and the low E string is tuned to C.
It's D Standard tuning with the E string tuned to C
Riff Repeater
Okay, thanks for the clarification.
Sometimes he uses the les paul because it has more frets
Good joob!
Dat T-Shirt
Did you have any guitar lessons before you started with Rocksmith?
when i wrote this comment there was 666.666 views and the video uploaded 6 years ago.
I am going to get a game so I can learn to play my sexy blue electric guitar. any ideas on songs?
Woolfe I am knew to it

though this song sounds very weird lol
but guy you play so awesome haha
How to enable this numbers wich show where to put fingers?
First at all you have to improve your English.
Second: They're enabled by default
PedroAlbina Give the dude a break. He got the message across, and that's enough for most.
scubadog2000 Its just a suggestion, I know he doesn't speak English as his native languaje.
Can you tell me what is a standarised name for this tunning? Google can't seem to find an answer for this, Drop C is just coming up in results, this game have some weird tunning nomenclature.

Hey!, you play this game on xbox360??
Yup!
If you can play the song in the game can you play it without the game?
What do the the notes with x's on them mean?
fret hand mutes
Riff Repeater Doesn't it mean palm mutes ?
Depends which ones he means. I'm used to people asking about fret hand mutes and not palm mutes I guess. Whoops
Black X is palm mute and white X is fret hand mute :)
Anyone know if there are options for people that are colour blind?
tom modo blog.ubi.com/rocksmith-2014-colorblind-mode/
Riff Repeater Thanks.
+lord jones That song isn't in Rocksmith, thanks.
AHAHHAAHAH
can you have this song on the original rocksmith? I don't think i have enough money to pay for the 2014 version... also, is this song dlc?
1) No
2) Yes it's DLC as is stated in the title of the video
Does rock smith actually help with your playing in general
+Ben Graci Best thing rocksmith does for you is give you encouragement to pick up a guitar and play, cos you can learn any song you want if you have it on pc, but yeah, it definately improves your guitar skills if you stick with it for a few months, its just a little wonky since if all you do is play songs on guitar your technical skills and scale stuff will suffer.
