    I don't get all the over-sensitive fanboys in the comment section!
    Peter Windsor is without the inch of a doubt the guy that explained in the most accurate way possible why Lewis is so great as a racing driver and praised him in hundreds of videos, so many times that i thought at some point he was pro-Lewis and now, because he is pointing out that he is struggling a little bit (he didn't said he was horrendously bad, or unworthy of his legacy, just that the's struggling FFS) compared to George sometimes (datas on hand), he's bias against Lewis?
    Jesus Christ...

    • @alextjb
      @alextjb 2 роки тому +10

      I agree to a degree, and I’m a Lewis fan.
      There are a ton of crazy fan boys on both sides. The “British bias” train is pretty annoying.
      But Peter is pretty good at keeping it real.
      The only person Peter is biased towards is Newey. Haha
      Every episode has at least one obligatory mention of Newey being a genius. :)

    • @cyberiusrex2343
      @cyberiusrex2343 2 роки тому

      Could've sworn the comment section was flooded by people accusing Peter of british bias or hell, straight up being a Lewis fanboy when he was praising Hamilton too back in 2021, completely throwing all his credentials out the window, overly fixated fan bases are always bad but I struggle to see the same amount of zealotry that was present here, especially when compared to the second half of the season last year.

    • @aesir1ases64

      He used to gloat over Lewis a little too much tbh .... guess its a by product of being brit maybe, but there is no way anyone can defend Lewis after how he is performing this year, Vettel got a lot of criticism for being outperformed by LeClerc, Lewis should receive the same treatment.

    • @bunny4me713

      Well in his last video he said "If I'm Mercedes principal Russel would get contract which states that he is not allowed to finish any race infront of Lewis. Period.".
      Which is against everything that racing sport should be. So yeah he is a fanboy of Lewis and not objective at all.

    Putting young drivers in for FP1 shouldn't be strange. It's the track the teams have the most amount of data, both car data and driver data. Since it's a rule for running young drivers this year, if you want to gauge a young driver there's no better place than here.

    Love the commentary on Charles v Max and the difference between them in way they work the tyres. I remember PW doing something similar in a post race video on the 2021 Max v Lewis fight - at the same circuit. Some folks went off the deep end and labelled him a Lew fanboy. One year later, PW now bigs up Max’s economical inputs on the track and…

    I think main reason for using secondary driver is being close to the factory... If he damaged some parts they can be overnighted to Spain. Also, sooner in the season they drive, the more races they are ready for. Three secondary drivers had their mandatory practice sessions this weekend I think.

      Barcelona is also the track the teams have the most track and driver data for.
      If you want to gauge a driver, having more data points to compare should help give you a better picture.
      Also, if he completely bottles it, you have historical data for how the track works to try and fill in missing set up info lol.

    8:55 I agree with you 100% Peter regarding the position Lewis finds himself right now & this is obviously compounded as he’s coming off this sports longest consecutive run perfection.
    He must be close to spent with this lifestyle & It’s also why I’m convinced Lewis had every intention of announcing retirement on the Abu Dabu podium with his 8th WDC in his hand…
    That would have been as special as Micheal Jordans game 6 buzzer beater that allowed him to retire with his 6th ring & on top of his game…. Except better because better because Lewis wouldn’t come back two years with the Washiton Wizards of F1.

Also they have so badly tuned PIDs for their flight controller, it really makes me sick watching the footage (severe shaking when they throttle up, due to the added weight of the tv cameras). Besides, Leclerc was trying that line also in qualifying simulations despite the Ferrari has better one lap pace, so it's definitely not to reduce a gap that doesn't exist at the moment (except maybe in long runs, but more due to a better tyre management from Max than anything else).

As long as you're discussing the results displayed on the table, just leave it up there and give everyone time to absorb it. (Added later) Or....build the charts with room to mortice your head shot in a corner. Don't worry about the short attention span crowd who can't abide a shot that lingers, even when its purpose is to convey information.

    2:03 why is it strange?
    there is a rule in f1 that says each team has to run free practice session with reserve driver during the season. all dicussion about it being "strange" and "odd" really ends there.
    but if you want to further speculate, i don't know why would it be strange when this is the point in the season where it's not important to win every point like in the end so you gotta get rid off that issue as early as possible. second thing is that rb apparently held some advantages over ferrari in last two races and they probably felt they could ease things a bit and put reserve driver in barcelona to get his hours.
    honestly, i don't know what are you even talking about, peter... strange? odd?

    I actually think it’s Lewis who knows how to manage his tyres better than any other driver. Something he has learnt over the years… certainly in part from Button. He is always making out his tyres are shot and then pumps in a fastest lap. That said, Max did look after his tyres a lot better than Charles did in their last few duels. It could however just be a characteristic of the car.

    I love that George is standing so well against Lewis… looks a bit like a late Vettel @ RedBull… just dropping the ball or loosing his confidence
    I still recall the one grandprix with too small shoes and still basically dominated Bottas… I like him

    I don't think Lewis gets hurt being behind in fp1,2,3 . It really doesn't matter. Now if he's slower in Q3 then yes. Valtri was always quicker in fp1

    isn't it a bit harsh to shit on Lewis for being slower in practice? Bottas was often quicker in practice than Lewis, yet the Pole is won in qualifying and not in practice. One one lap lewis has on balance been quicker than Russel so far.

    I really think that those three years George spent at the back of the grid gave him an ability to drag a car above it's station that any driver who spends nine or ten years at the front is bound to lose over time. Yes young Lewis Hamilton might have had that skill, but this is 7 time world champion Lewis Hamilton now and he just doesn't have it anymore.
