The words "Yoshi's Fruit Adventure" sent a chill down my spine. But yeah Sunshine is an odd one, all the M64 sequels are really uneven for me. They have wildly different strengths and weaknesses, though I'd consider them all to be great. I know Mario 64 has sort of fallen out of favor with the public, but its biggest attributes to me are having depthful movement (no air recovery moves, and good ol' slow acceleration), and most of the stars range from good to inoffensive, so a majority of the game plays well.
I think people are obsessed with the cap/wall jump chain in Odyssey because it feels fancy, and they can "break the game" with it. It also takes much more technical skill than FLUDD. To me the movement just becomes stale and repetitive immediately, since the cappy combo is way too effective at gaining height/distance. My favorite thing in M64 is that the moves are all fairly well balanced, so you'll be using a variety of dives, longjumps, sidejumps, backflips, double/triple jumps, ground pound because they all serve a specialized function that isn't useful in every situation. I even use the dumb airkick sometimes. FLUDD/Cappy make the level designer's job too difficult, since the player has access to ridiculous vertical/horizontal movement on a whim.
@@gungore4424 I like when Mario is athletic because he is athletic, not because he has a god damn Inspector Gadget toy attached to him. Also the air kick in SM64 is probably one of his best moves BECAUSE his air mobility is kinda shit, it's like the only thing he has to save himself as opposed to holding R and rocketing back to safety with 100 coins in your pocket and a pacifier.
Oh this was recorded around the time of the Garfield movie announcement? Was this on the backburner so long because you just wanted to do other stuff or is this something you wanted to do but couldn’t because you had no free time? o_0
There's no real particular reason, the Pokemon stuff I've been recording a ton of as "filler" basically. I have a Platinum and Heartgold run also recorded, and like half a Crystal run, and I intended for them to be inbetween playthroughs for the regular stuff like the Paper Marios or Mother 3s or Dark Soulses, since Pokemon is 1. easily challenge run-able, and 2. easy just in general. The issue is that everyone, including me, is busy, so the Pokemon stuff IS the "main" content for now. And yeah, occasionally it really shows how far this was on the backburner. I think Emerald started recording late 2023, and finished early 2024. I also wanted to keep to a "one video a week" schedule so I wouldn't run out of content, but after Emerald, it's gonna be every 2 weeks for a little bit. Wow, that turned into a wall of text. Oops.
Don’t know if this is a hot take or not, but personally I think the hoenn dex is ass. People shit on johto for having garbage mons (which is true), but people seem to forget how bad so many of these mons are. Say it with me, Slow, Frail, Mixed Attacker, the hoenn classic.
I loved Pokemon Coliseum. It was finally something other than 10 years sets out and stops the mob.
Definitely two of the better Pokémon games.
I'm gonna listen to this while doing a 4hr endurance race in Gran Turismo
Good luck, I think?
Hahahaha I've been quoting the Seviper/Arbok thing for ages.
Anticlimatic win against the electric gym after the previous video lol
I know, right? Even when editing this I was thinking that.

Slow, frail and mixed attacker sounds like johto to me. 🤷
Very true, I bring it up a lot, but gen 3 has a ton of mediocre single stage evos.
