There's an npc summon companion in gravel. He's a scholar and he gives everybody on the screen (including your party) a bunch of debuffs. He could pair really well with the deep one. I beleive the move he has is called demonic whispers and the dance session is called bewildering ballad . If agnea has him as her summon and she uses a dancer move its always something good for a single ally or entire party without having to summon him
@SuperiorPosterior don't worry, you can't catch bosses first fight, ever. They re spawn as normal encounters after you beat them first time. Just roam around the sea with ochette in your party equipping the rare monster skill and you will get it in no time. This is the same for all the rest.

What i love about this game is their is SO many ways you can build yourself up. Everything is useful. So many strategies, options, and methods of progression its like the ultimate RPG fans dream. If they EVER make a 3rd game, i certainly hope they remain faithful to how the first two games do things and at least keep the toughness of the games difficulty as high as it is. I think they have a winning formula here that can only be taken higher by better writing and dialogue inbthe story (that can admittedly get rather bland after a while and makes the story missions feel like a slog).
Do you guys think Ochette is top tier among the 8 characters? In the early game I almost took her out of my main team, but then I've realized how OP her monsters are. Dreadwolf, Light Revenant and Shark are just a few of insanely strong monsters.

I would say she’s great i especially gave her armsmaster and she easily does 20k+ . Add that her monsters and a good summon she can honestly be anything you want
She is amazing as a support/dps character. The shark is an insta battle endler/heal. The wolf is easy 40k damage with a simple 3ple boost. Her secret ability lets you do breaks of like 12 or more in one weapon. Very flexible once it gets the right monsters. Considering it also has access to summons it can be the buff queen while still dealing good dps.
I actually didn't know you can capture the boss monsters until fighting the shark. And I only fought the shark because I thought I could. The second time around I was spontaneously jumped by him and spooked only to be spooked again when I saw he could be captured. Even more surprising when he required 3 BP. EVEN MORE surprising when he (I think) is one of the best boss monsters in the game
Its a common case with non-story boss monsters. After beating them the first time, they become rare encounters in the area where they were initially encountered.
Might be interesting to a see a more complete list of summons including Akala/Mahina awakened (possibly as an argument in the akala vs mahina debate for endgame) version. And possibly a recommendation for a loadout for general use or provoke dueling without the idea of the provoke beasts exploit
That’s true, but I feel like with the Ex skill glitch that let’s you use any summon six time with Ochette it’s a waste because Hikari can break most shields with being armmaster and the 4-8 times attacks skills he can learn.
Yep, frogking and the sea searpent double hits are broken for her secret skill. I just carry the shark, scourge and wolf as max summons and use the others as shield breakers
Got a couple of these,the limitation / not being able to use them in her ex skill kind of sucks tho. Atm I have king octopuff and chubby Cait. Tho I guess I could always just summon Cait / octopuff 6 times. I think my fave of the boss is scourge, some single target lategame bosses have some meaty shields, and six shields is quite a lot.
She’s glitched right now. So you can use her ex skill on all creatures. Just use provoke beast, select latent power, end latent power, regular provoke, and click anything 6 times. You’ll still need three bp if they need max boost to summon.
Im currently on a journey to find all the non-once per battle monsters who hit 3 or more times So far the only ones I found are 2 who use bows, island frogking with rainbow shot and the desert monkey i forgot the name of with 3-5 aoe arrow hit Rainbow shot has the highest potential amount of breaks though
Buffs are king in this game. Shields are easy to break once you know what you're doing. Take the warrior class for example. The very first move they learn does six sword attacks (fully boosted). That's six shields on the right enemies. There's tons of moves like that, all you have to do is synergize your party. Go for buffs and debuffs. You'll deal MASSIVE amounts of damage, shields be damned.

If there was a single move that could break a boss unboosted, it would either be so far into the post game that it'd be irrelevant or need to fulfill so many conditions that it's basically not worth it. Hell, even Ochette's exploit, a game breaking bug, STILL needs a x3 boost to work. What you're looking for doesn't exist.
Ok uh I've only played the demo and didn't even play ochette's story so maybe it was a bad idea to watch this 😂 But it's cool that she gets summons through her story. In the first octopath I was sad that Haanit couldn't capture the monster bosses she fought so glad to see that might be changing? Maybe? Actually no one confirm or deny this 😂

Depending on your main you can go about this alot of ways. For example, had oslvad (with a cleric subjob for him/ merchant for mugging) as a main and I has my whole team based around him with War!Ochetts, Hunter!Partitio for breaking shields and dancer!throne for buffs and breaks.

Basically have More Rare Monsters on and you'll find them again more easily. Found this out after the Scourge jumped me while I was out grinding. Combined with a certain Hire's exp boosts these guys are great for power-leveling.
Do they appear again in the Dungeon after the first Boss encounter because you cant catch them then, do I have to run around after defeating him and catch him in a random spawn in the Dungeon?
@@HexManiac536 There's a bug involving Ochette's EX Skill Provoke Beasts, as well as her latent power. If you max boost, use her EX Skill Provoke Beasts to open your beast menu, then turn on and off her latent power, it will bring you back to her regular menu with the bug activated at this point. You can then go to the regular provoke menu (not the EX skill one) and select any beast multiple times including even the Level 10 boss summons without the one use per battle limit. A pretty OP bug with certain Level 10 boss summons.

Shark, amazing mob cleaner, helps you avoid healing after a fight, acts as a full heal midnight as well. Scourge of the sea is an amazing shield breaker, 9999 damage plus 6 shield breaker no matter what is a life saver if a boss is about to nuke you and you can't break it otherwise. Wolf, because it let's you do 40k damage. I would actually recommend having the headless horse and an ancient frogking for other 2 because it let's you abuse the multi summon spams to buff your party, debuff the enemy, and break them as well. Last one is optional and choose it depending on your needs

@@hawkeyemihawkgettingmoneylord there is a Warrior skill called Surpassing Power (or something, they changed the name between Octopath 1 and 2) that when equiped raises your damage cap from 9,999 to 99,999.
@@shanevstheworld when i fought gigantes on the island i couldn't catch him as a boss, so as I was walking back to the ship he attacked me again but I was able to catch him then, so he's my sweeper for enemies to level the other characters left in the tavern.
You need to kill the shark in order to the capturable version to appear. Just go back to the same place and try to get it as a random encounter (rare). Good luck
Scourge is difficult to cheese because it randomly takes members for example. The wolf is incredibly difficult even at lv 50. The shark is def lv 40 material tho, that one is pretty easy. So is the goat.
Still beat the game without any of these summon, Hunter talent is boring since 1st game. Don't get me wrong, they are useful but not a must have to beat the final boss or optional boss.

I see what you are saying. I got hit with demonic whispers and had at least 5 debuffs. That's where the deep one can come in handy.
Scourge of the sea, shark and wolf are definitely the top summons that should always be in your party.
Is there any way to capture Scourge? I beat it without Ochette in my party, and didn't know bosses were tameable

No need the monster to be OP with Ochette's 😂, they can dishes out 300k with proper build in end game, but still a bit less than Hikari

These monsters along with Ochette's glitch to summon all of these strong momsters makes Ochette the best character in the entire series.

Gotta love the fact that the giant water monster named the "Scourge of the Sea" just straight up punches the lights out of the target.
There also some normal monsters that hit two times so you can use her ex skill and break up to 12 shield points if the enemy is weak to the attack

You have to defeat the boss first. Then they become farmable as they appear in the wild afterwards.
Ochettes skill “more rare monsters” will make them appear more often ❤ good luck

They are untamable the first time you fight them but once you defeat them they become a random encounter in the area

You can only summon them once per battle, and they all need max BP to be used. This is true for all Lv10s
no need to make a note of that though when all lvl 10 summons need full bp and can only be used once per battle.
When you catch one it will tell you in game that they are limited to one summon per fight and need max bp…
