Whenever I find things in my wardrobe where I am not sure whether I still like/want to keep them, I try to actually wear them (not just quickly try them on in the moment) in an actual outfit for a full day. That give me time to reassess their comfort and practicality in my current lifestyle, and of course whether I feel like I still like the item on my person. It's also a great opportunity to try new outfit combinations that will integrate the item into your current aestheic/vibe. I have rediscovered a bunch of stuff that way and started wearing it regularly after years. So I definitely agree that just because you haven't worn something in a while, is HAS to go - it definitely deserves a last-chance-wear first ;)
Ingrid, bring your old denim to Madewell! You’ll get $20 off a new pair of denim AND your denim goes to blue jeans go green with habitat for humanity- it creates insulation for homes with the old denim.
I love that you aren´t simply going for the time-frame-rule. It never seemed a good idea to me to just throw stuff out because I haven´t worn it for a while. Sure, some things don´t get used or worn because I don´t like them. But when I´m honest with myself I know exactly which items I´m not liking. But a lot of other pieces that I don´t wear that often are special clothes or clothes I just don´t like right now. Two years ago I didn´t wear a single knitted dress the whole winter long. This year I only wore those dresses but almost no jeans in the winter. Had I just thrown them out because I hadn´t worn them for a certrain time period, I had have to buy new dresses. So a lot of the time I suspect the time-frame-rule is just a qay to get to buy new stuff without a bad conscience. So well done you! I really enjoy your more sustainable way of thinking.
Love you Ingrid! Thank you for sharing so much of your life with us - it’s a very brave and inspiring thing to do. I’m glad you are here and thriving because you deserve it - your struggles, successes, knowledge, honesty, etc. is such a gift. I can’t thank you enough for sharing it 💗
This is my first time seeing an Ingrid video in a long time and this Ingrid is one that just shines contentment and more relaxed both in physicality and with her voice. I hope it doesn’t come across as condescending, but I’m so proud of her. Her journey has brought her to this person she is and it feels like she’s just so happy and at peace. As a viewer, it’s like chicken soup for the soul to watch. I feel at peace and a bit giddy that I get to watch and know where she used to be. So much love, respect, and happy thoughts to her!💗👍🏻💗
My favorite thing to do with shirts that I don’t wear or can’t fit into, is to cut the sleeves off and cut the bottom to tie into many knots to make reusable bags!!
I need to this so bad, I live in Minnesota so I completely understand the seasons and how your wardrobe changes. As per usual I always find you so funny, love your little consultant lol he was taking a break!
For anyone who is thinking about donating your clothes after clearing out your closet you should look to see if your local high school accepts clothes for students who don’t have the money for new clothes. My high school has one and it’s a really great program!
Love this! I also live in four seasons land and have the same organisation system for my clothes. Have been itching to go through all of my clothing the past few months and reorganise my wardrobe, so this is super motivating for me to get to that! 😍
It’s so weird watching a pre-lockdown video now. I’m going to do this in the autumn this year because I lost weight last spring so revived quite a lot of old clothes 👏
This is meee, I had like 4 drawers of old T shirts before I moved out on my own and brought two of those drawers with me and a year later just donated about half of those. Crazy how many I thought were necessary lol
I hope you’re having a fantastic week Ingrid!! I need to do this challenge before I go back to school Monday, it hasn’t been a very productive spring break haha ❤️❤️
I reeealy love your videos, they are so relaxing!!!You have such a great personality and I'm so proud that I took a quiz on buzzfeed I think(Which beuty guru are you)because that's how I discovered your channel !LOVE FROM GREECE,ATHENS : )
I want to do a Marie Kondo fold and stacking on your clothes. I used to fold and stack the way you do but in January i started Marie Kondo folding and standing my tshirts and items so i can see everything i have in my drawer
Cleaning consultant 🐶😂💞💞 Ingrid, silent long time viewer here. I feel as though I grew up and grew into being a woman with you. Our life stories have a lot of similarities and it always felt quite soothing seeing someone on a similar life path, even on the other side of the world. Just wanted to acknowledge how much you have impacted me positively, say thank you and wish you all the best xx 💞💞
30 and just got rid of my high school jeans that were too tight, bought new pairs that fit and its amazing.. ALSO life is too short to have jeans without pockets so I donated all of those and will never buy pocketless jeans again! Idc how cute it is, fake pockets are the devil. Ready to do some more spring cleaning!
This is perfect timing, was about to do the same thing but have been procrastinating it. Also thankyou for the intentions video, Ive just watched it and ir has really helped me feel invigorated again!
Looking forward to the rest of this series because I'm curious what other categories you're going to go through! I hope makeup and skincare is in there somewhere hee
I know it is a bit off topic but Ingrid, do you have grey hair? Can you perhaps talk about embracing grey hair? I never thought it would be my insecurity! I know it's ridiculous but it affects my confidence.....
omg love this. im in ca and im doing some spring cleaning myself! and im a lover of jumpsuits and rompers too. they r so easy and im always on the look out for some!
Mahiah Rigali her mom bonded with nugget when she babysat & it was a great bond so nugget is with her mom!! She addressed it in the Tato adoption video 😊
Hi Ingrid! Thanks for the video 💛 this may seem silly but... how do you know if you actually like a clothing item? I’m finding such a hard time knowing what I like and dislike. For example, this morning I picked out pieces I know I have worn a lot currently/ in the past, but when I put everything together, I really dislike how I look and feel. I felt like the outfit was representative of my past, not where I’m going. Example 2, I look into my closet and do not want to wear anything except my comfy home clothes! I’m feeling so uninspired and feel that nothing goes with each other. I don’t know how to build a basic wardrobe in which everything goes with everything. Thanks for reading 😊😊😊
Agreed. I like the topics Ingrid talks about. But I feel her videos have become more and more long winded. I have a love hate at times. I have to be in the right mindset to watch. Otherwise I end up giving up. Being more concise I think could help.
Thred Up is terrible to sell to, though. I would rather donate to my local thrift store. They end up making a decent amount of money in my stuff...more than the mere pennies that Thred Up pays out these days.
I really enjoy the topics Ingrid covers in her video’s. However, sometimes I feel like some videos can be a bit long winded? Border-lining on somewhat pretentious. I’ve been subscribed to Ingrid for many years, and will continue. So before anyone castrates me. Hear me out. Because I don’t want this to come off as being hateful. Just an opinion, and constructive. But perhaps, editing the video in more concise, clips. Could help get the point of the video delivered quicker? A suggestion. I’ve noticed it’s not all her video’s. But I felt that this video for instance, could have been less drawn out. Please don’t hate me.
I have had some clothes sitting in my closet for 10+ years, and suddenly I just can't get enough of them. Weight fluctuations and changing trends are unpredictable, so blindly throwing everything that doesn't get worn for a year creates lot of unwanted landfill waste.
who else is here that remembers ingrid when she was missglamorazzi?
Omg yes, It's so strange because I have been evolving at the same time as she has been !
🙋🏻♀️
I've been here since 2010! Ingrid was the first beauty youtuber I followed
I do.
I was just thinking the same thing.

K G yes, a great idea! North face will also donate/recycle old textiles any brand, any condition!

I love your consultant. A good "helper" makes these tasks better.
I have been watch The Fosters and finally just finished all 5 seasons and it still continues to blow my mind how much you look like Maia Mitchell.
Courtney Cotter I just did the same and you’re so right

Is no one else going to comment on how nicely her tshirts are folded?

I'm also a sucker for free tshirts to make as PJ shirts lol. I just went through my PJ drawer last weekend and got rid of SO many!
Woo! Spring cleaning! Love this time of year to refresh and reset.
Absolutely keep calling him The Consultant! 😀👍
I love this video ! It's so interesting to see that what you take out of your wardrobe talks about yourself! Keep doing what you like 🙈🌈♥️

YESSS spring is almost here!! You are so good at organizing clothing wow!!
She really is! I love the storage bin idea!! 🤔👏🏼💗
Ooh, I’m excited for this series!

I love this series, Ingrid! I've been in a spring cleaning / purging process, too... so this gave me some needed inspiration.
Send your tshirts to MARINE LAYER! They recycle tshirts and make clothing from that material.. and the clothes are REALLY cool!!
When are you going to post week two of this series? I have been looking forward to it.
I can’t wait to see the rest!!
Also consider the Madewell drapey track trouser. I'm over tight waistbands and they're my new hero item!
Love you Ingrid ❤

Does anyone know a brand that has jumpsuits that would fit someone with a short torso, long legs, and a butt? I can't fit in any I find
