Great tips, Geo. I glued neodymium magnets to the bottom of my brushes and let them hang upside down on my shower curtain rail. It frees up counter space and they dry nicely. Cheers!
Greetings Geo. I'm just Truckin' through Granite City so I can't say yes or no on the bike ride down here from Chicago. However, Granite City is literally right across the Missouri River from St Louis Missouri. Which is ALWAYS A GOOD TIME to behold indeed. However, I'm gonna get my shave on tonight with my Shave Nation products. My Edwin Jagger DE~89 accompanied with a Feather Blade, my little Tweezerman Brush, Fine "snake bite" shaving cream & Shave Nation Alum Block, then finish off with a splash of Fine "Snake Bite" After Shave. As Farris Bueller would say~ Choice 👌 Cheers Geo 🥃
Great tips GFB as a lot of blokes would not realise how damaging that shoving bristles through the gap does and yes I have fixed one of my favourite brushes with two part epoxy and it works real good:-D
@@geofatboy No problems Geo just thought I would stick my two cents worth in and for the record I think the tissue trick was agreat idea though my puny little arms haven't got the strength anymore to do that sort of thing:-D
Thanks so much for the positive comment. It's a lot of work but, I'm gonna try to keep it up! I'd make videos all day if I didn't have to run the business! BTW- Fantastic UA-cam name!
Use a metal file if you need to open it up just a bit, then coat it with some clear nail polish so it doesn't rust. Sometimes you can pull the prongs apart with a vice and a pair of pliers.
Hi Geo, this happened to me after cleaning my shave brush I would shake out the excess water, I don't do this anymore because it was the cause of the problem, I wrapped masking tape around my bristles and and applied a waterproof superglue to the bottom of the knot. After it had set I removed the masking tape and all was good again 😊
Hi Roy, I twist, shake, and dry the bristles after each shave with my brushes and they seem to stand up pretty good. I'm glad you were able to fix yours.
Cool show and I used that JB marine expoxy glue as you know what marine means, water so I used that for my brush and it works well for my brushes. Cheerios!!
The same thing happened to my Edwin Jagger brush, and I looks exactly like the one in your video. Is that an Edwin Jagger you demonstrated the tissue paper quick-fix on? Also, I tried using hot glue to fix mine a few weeks ago which was a complete failure! 😏 I'll try a 2 part epoxy next. Thanks for the video!
Actually it was a Parker Heavy Chrome Shaving brush, but it's got a lot of miles on it. Probably about 8 years old. I would think a dab of hot glue would work fine. Was it completely dry when you tried it?
@@geofatboy hey geofatboy. Wanted to ask you a question about shaving? A few years back I used a cheap safety razor and a cheap blade and did an against the grain on my face. I got a few nicks. Everything healed but one didn't. Near my side burns the hair in a particular area grows in different directions. It used to grow straight over there. What's the issue.
Great video Geo, I had the same prob with my brush about 4 years ago. Unlike the guy below, I had great success using a hot glue gun. Been 4 years now and it has held together. Can't tell it was ever glued either.
@@geofatboy yeah if it wasnt dry prob wouldn't hold. When that hot glue dries also, water will never affect. When I shave the water is so hot steam comes off, and I soak my brush in it everytime. It fixed it amazing.
@@geofatboy The only way I could see it fail is not using enough, or boiling the brush maybe to clean it, which is crazy. Regular hot water doesn't hurt it.
Good vid and tips. 😎👍🏼 Loctite 2 part epoxy clear works good too. Something i learned from Douglas Smythe is if you cut the hammer at the top of the epoxy in the middle you can squeeze out a better, equal amount of product from each plunger individually. Nice watch too man. 😁 My fave G-Shocks are the XL Series ones. 👍🏼
Thanks very much. Great tip from Douglas. I love my G-Shocks! I've been wearing Casio watches since the late 70"s early 80's ❤️They are bullet proof and keep better time than really expensive watches. No winding either.
Your welcome! Yeah i like the designs of the G-Shocks. Some have really good detail. Plus if i smack it on a wall or shelf at work i know it will not break and keep time. 👍🏼
Geo , can you please make a video for guys who want a safety razor shave but with super sensitive skin who are once a week shavers with fine beard growth? Many thanks
Whaaaat cmooon, didn't tought about the tissue paper, hell thank you man! You just saved my 10$ Balea Men loval drug store badger brush, which is doing an amazing job (not like our coaching stuff right? 🥶😅🤪) I bodyweighted the force in, not the best for the hairs but they survived these 3-4 seconds, seems stable damn, maybe I over soaked it always in the mug, and for 6-8 minutes
Look Geo, I prefer to wear a full beard I still heed your advice for shaving my under neck witch is rather coarse at least I can thank you for the tips and I've subscribed a while ago despite being bearded I enjoy watching your videos regardless

great tip and love the Geo Fatboy style fix your stuff first always super good vid, want to see more like this for sure.

Does tissue paper work if you broke off the bristles?
How could I make a bigger brush fit a metal stand like you did your plastic one ?

You should do a top 5 or 10 brush video, thatll really help. Love the vids

Good tips. I love JB Weld. More expensive here in Australia but well worth it.
True-I was surprised at how reasonably priced it is 💰
Great video. I use Gorilla’s 2 part when I restore brushes. Works great.
Cool! I'll check that one out.
I prefer clear silicone sealant. Holds well and is much easier to remove. Epoxy holds well but is very difficult to remove.
Nice tip!💈
Thanks Vazz!
I like the idea that some brush makers have knots and handles that are THREADED and interchangable to swap them out easier.
Agreed! That is an awesome concept.

Thanks much Joe! I appreciate the fact that you sport a beard yet keep it trimmed and lined up. Respect!
I personally think that the tissuepaper will dry out too slow and therefore get moldy. That would ruin the brush for ever.
I think that is just a temporary fix to get you through a few shaves until you can get some epoxy and fix it properly.
One would hope this would not be the case with a Simpson Brush.
Everyone knows all ya gotta do is King Kong it 😀
Pro tip: buy better brush 🤣
It's actually a pretty good brush. I've gotten about 8 years out of it. Now I'm ready for 8 more!
