I'm real excited that Razor Emporium is growing in its EMPORIUM-esque abilities. A real One-Stop Shop for all things razor and shave! Great Work RE & Co.!
I've done only a couple and haven't tackled the lettering yet. So thank you for that tip. I agree that one has to take great care when using a Dremel, I found using a cloth wheel very helpful. I put weight in one of mine but can't use it with a Scuttle, because it now wants to sit too deep in the scuttle and crushes the bristles. So I left the second one without any weight and it seats fine in a scuttle.
This is a brilliant video! Love the superb craftsmanship of your work, done with real love of the product. Considering buying a vintage Ever Ready C40 or a No 89 and I may come to you for a new knot and restoration afterwards depending on condition. If you were based in England I'd definitely be asking for a job 😃👍💈
Hi Matt. I e been a subscriber a few months now. I watched this video because I’m restoring my dads Ever Ready 150. Only one chip in the handle. The rubber is intact. Not cracked. I’m not changing the knot just going to polish the handle and redo the lettering. I ordered some gold leaf rub n buff for it. The red lettering on the bottom is decent but I’ll eventually re do it. I enjoy the channel.
*Very cool Matt!* I still use my _grandfathers shaving brush._ I have no idea who made it. It’s wood and the knot is boars hair. It still makes a great lather. I just rub it down with coconut oil from time to time and its good to go.
Hello razor emporium. I have a question. When replacing a knot...can knot & handle be same size? For example 30mm knot to 30mm handle? Or always one size smaller?
I've checked phoenix artisan online for their knots but they don't have them online. Do you know anyone that has good synthetic knots and sells them online?
Really appreciate your videos! I have an old Ever Ready I'd like to restore, but the black bit right under the knot has gone pretty grey. Would polishing restore its former glory?
If we include the knot we prefer with the brush, would you be able to set it for us? The brush has a silvertip knot that I don't care for and would like a synthetic knot placed instead
Amazing absolutely love all the services you offer at the emporium. I was just gonna ask what you would recommend to use for additional weight in the handle ive heard of people using few penny's but I suppose depends on the brush.
I have one tip. If you use Silicone, RTV gasket grade, you can eventually pull the knot out without too much trouble, in case you are testing the best loft for that particular knot. Is not as permanent as epoxy, since once is dry, there is no turning back, and removing the knot will destroy it. But don't use too much, since it will hold very firmly. I almost destroyed a knot that I glued too deep and put too much silicone. I had to use a vise-grip to pull it out. Shed a bit, but it was salvaged.
Great video! Love this vintage restorations process and the final results! I have myself restored a vintage Ever Ready C40 shaving brush and have more handles waiting for restoration! What kind of white support did you use inside the handle to set the height of the knot?
Good morning Matt! thank you for this video. I have an unknown model of an Ever Ready Rubber-set brush that need this service. Additionally, I am unsure about the knot...I think it might be badger. Anyway, this video was timely and very well done.
Well. You warned me not to use a dremell. But do I listen? NNOOOOO I juat put some nice gouges in an otherwise gouge free brush. Oh well. My dad said I could fuck up a one car funeral.
Lol, what's with all that equipment? Half the people don't even have that vernier measurement thing, yet alone the drill press. You could as well used a laser cnc machine from the future.
Not bad at all guys...Nice transformation. I really enjoy bringing vintage shave brushes back to life myself at Reyes_Restores on Instagram. I like to add a layer of painters tape around the top of the brush prior to any drilling. I saw the smoke coming up drill bit and know exactly what that smells like...lol. Thanks for sharing.
I cry foul! First how many guys have a bench belt sander and drill press with a Forstner bit just hanging around in the garage? I know! I'll go to Harbour Freight and spend $400 to repair my shaving brush!

Howdy Matt! I love the vintage Ever Ready Brushes. Nicely done.

Great video. What material did you use for the brush shelf in the hollow handle?
Wood

your videos are really unique since they explore ancient technology lost to the modern shaving man.
Is there any way you can tell me what knot exactly that is? Thank you

Usually always smaller
@@RazorEmporium Thank you!
The end result looked awesome.
thank you!

This was a cool video! I need to go antiquing, lol!
Nice video...i am wondering why you dont remove the knots via steam. It's easier and withe better results...

Yes, the hole must be measured after the hair is removed for an accurate reading. Give us a call to discuss! 8552641199
What kind of brush do y'all recommend for a quicker lather?
Do you do international orders?
Absolutely
Awesome... I have two that are screaming for this!
thank you! we look forward to seeing them ;)
Thanks Matt. Love the info and review.

We use pennies because they are cheap, flat, bond well and are cheap! ;)
RazorEmporium wow I just saw how I spelled "pennys" and no thats not because im up here in canada I just plain screwed it up hrmm....lol

We usually use plastic because it bonds well. thanks for the comments!
Thank you!
Another interesting video. Thanks. Any news on the REX adjustable?
thanks! Are you signed up for our newsletter or follow our instagram (or Rex Supply Co? ) We will shipping before the end of the month.

Another lovely video. Thanks for the share.
thanks for watching our channel!
Another great video. Is there anyway you can do a video about department store products(i.e Target). What do you think about the Van der Hagen line?
We will add it to the list. We covered some of this on an episode of I'd Lather Be Shaving. It's not bad stuff but for the money, get proraso :)
RazorEmporium I just got the proraso red soap, preshave and aftershave with the Parker alum bar. I have forgotten how good it feels to wet shave.
I'm going to try my hand at restoring a Clear and Black Ever Ready 1CS with a 22mm Timberwolf Grey Synthetic knot.
Great video!
very cool.
