Good camera and audio work, but a Le Mans car at Goodwood is like a lion in a cage. It's impressive and if it roar's it is awe inspiring, only it it nothing like seeing and hearing it in the wild. The magic of the 787B only really unfolds when it can be accelerated up through the gears without holding back, not like we saw here.
And one of the most incredible in history, technically, they took it out of the competition in relation to the regulations because this cars would have smashed F1 cars....
I was at Le Mans in '91 when this won. The 4 main Group C contenders all sounded fantastic in their own way, from the bassy sound of the Mercedes C11 to the higher pitched and gorgeous sounding 7 litre V12's of the Jags, to the flat 6 962's. But to hear that quad Rotor screaming through the night at full chat down the unchicaned Musane straight is a sound I will never forget.
apparently, the driver inside was johnny herbert, the original driver of the car. This explains why he wasnt afraid of wringing the engine to redline (as it should) compared to previous drivers
Makes me unbelievably happy to see the 787B still gets to stretch its legs in 2023. Would be such a waste for the hellish sounding machine to sit in a museum forever.
I like the Huayra R a tad more because it sounds more like an F1 but this is a very close second for me because it’s the most unique car sound that I know of
I have seen this one Mazda winning the Le Mans 24 Heures,.. and i will remember this for my intire life,.. thanks to the whole team by that time and Volker Weidler, Johnny Herbert, and Bertrand Cachot,... realy love this car,.. ;-)
Just the 787B was too much loud when participating at LeMans, so a whole grid of rotary engines, would be really something above everything else in terms of sounds. Not sure the neighbours around to appreciate it 😅

Everything even a V/Vr/i engine can be great. problem is more parts more tear and wear. the amout of V/i engines blowing the F up rather then a Rotor losing its apex seals is 2 diff things xD " Edit boxer engines.. why dont folks talk about these then rotors. :D " Mad world.

@@nismo3871 group c were sportscar prototypes. They had their own championship and raced also in Le Mans. They raced from 1982 until 1992. This car in the video won Le Mans in 1991. Many many legendary and powerful cars were in that championship.
Its the coolest car where ever it goes, its a shame it was used on that go kart track instead of a real circuit. Lucky to hear it revved at all these days, wonderful thing. F1 meant fk all to me back then, it was all about Group C
It's a shame they banned this car from Le Mans, it's an amazing sound. That's what I'll miss most with this new age of milk floats... The sound. I heard the electric mustang on goodwood and it sounded strange and different... Then I heard the Hoonigan Subaru and it reminded me how crap electric cars sound 😂

What fuel flow regulated F1 should have been. Open book and fuel flow as the only limit + engine weight etc.
