If you take a bird's eye view, there were some positives to this - the innovations developed in China found their way to Europe very quickly via Mongol expansion and was one of the factors paving the dominance of the West over East in the next 4 centuries. Gunpowder and first cannons were brought to Europe, which then refined and innovated them to develop best weapons on Earth that were used to conquer the East. This isn't the main reason, of course (invention of science and a free flow of ideas and balance of powers, etc all playing a big role too). And, ironically enough, after Batu captured and decimated Rus and made it a vassal state for centuries, Russia eventually conquered all of Golden Horde lands and made Mongols use Russian alphabet there and be its vassal for the next 2 centuries.
