I have stumbled across some new information regarding Dolphin's Bluetooth Passthrough mode, which enables the use of both Wiimote Plus controllers as well as (3rd) THIRD-PARTY DEVICES!!! Please click the links above, as I am simply not capable of making a connection guide since I do not own Wiimote Plus or 3rd-party controllers.

It should be noted that the *_"real wiimote"_* option is *only* to be used with *_actual, official Nintendo Wiimotes_* and all other (3rd party) devices will need to use the _"emulated wiimote"_ option, and if that doesn't work, try the "hybrid" option.

Ok so the HIID program or whatever does detect the wii mote, even if I plug it into a guitar it recognizes as a guitar controller now, but for some reason dolphin doesn't, it just stays with the other 3 buttons light up and never conects to dolphin (like in 3:44) any tips??

I finally got it to work, but for some reason it doesn't set my wii mote as the 1st remote where it lights up just 1 blue square. Instead it likes up 3 blue squares indicating its wii mote 3. How do I switch it to 1??? ;-;
Well you can just make it #1 in controller settings. But I understand the annoyance haha. Just make sure you don't have other devices connected or trying to connect to your pc when pairing the wiimote.

Hey I really love this tutorial, thank you so much for uploading this. I'm having one problem, the Device Driver will not install and I've tried to work around it but nothing works without it. I've redone the wizard several times and it doesn't budge. Do you know how to fix this? Thank you so much man.
Have you tried messing around with the "certificate" option? And are you absolutely certain you're downloading the right driver? Also are you using a real, official Nintendo wiimote or a third party device?

I was having trouble even following the tutorial with dolphin, until i finally uninstalled the Certificate, now wiimote works and dolphin picks up every time i go to use it.
ps, on another note the WII tea candle Sensor Bar trick is no joke it really works. (the WII Menu has to be installed in dolphin so u can change the sensitivity settings to make a little stronger because the flicker of the flames.)
How do I uninstall that
if it doesnt work because
a) your controller doesnt say Wii but something else
b) it connects your to the last 2 ports
then set it on emulated and configure it manualy
Hey, @cosmos lewis For your third-party device, simply use the "emulated wiimote" option. If that doesn't work, try the hybrid option.
Wii motion is a lot more than up down left right hahaha. There's forward, back, roll, pitch, yaw, and accelerated motion. Does Indiana Jones have you actually point the wiimote at the sensor bar at any given time? Is it a required functionality at all?
So if your wiimote does not say "Wii" on it, then you have what's called a "third-party" device, an unofficial controller that was not made by Nintendo themselves. And so you WILL want to use the "emulated wiimote" option.
But yes I do suggest getting a real wiimote. You should be able to find them pretty cheap at second-hand stores, or websites like kijiji (Canada) and craigslist (USA).
If it's a game that does not need the wiimote to be pointed at the sensor bar, just watch the video again, friend. If it's a game that DOES require the sensor bar, watch my Dolphinbar video. If you're unsure of whether or not your game needs the sensor bar, tell me the name of the game or games you're trying to play.

In the "add device" part? Do everything as shown and try cancelling the installation then re-adding the device as normal. It could take a few attempts

Not only do I explicitly state in the video that all you do is click next, I have uninstalled wiimotes and reinstalled them every time a wave of comments pertaining to this issue arises, just in case there have been some Windows 10 updates that I didn't know about, and am here to say that if you just click next like the video entails, you'll be gooch in the hooch, my dudes. when you said "remove the device driver" what did you mean by that, i installed the hid control center and it doesn't show that option
@@johnrowland1826 You will see either "remove" or "install" as the bottom option. If you don't see "remove," then you will want to toggle the certificate option. If nothing seems to be working, toggle both options, trying different combinations, and reset your computer occasionally.

Might be a bit late, but to answer you all, if your lights don't stop flashing, what's likely happening is you have the wrong controller input type selected. Meaning you're either using a 3rd-party wiimote while having the "real wiimote" option selected, or vice versa, or you don't have bluetooth enabled.
So double-check that bluetooth is on, and make sure you have the appropriate controller type selected.

Nope! If it's a game like Lego Star Wars that simply takes controls without needing the sensor bar, you're good to go. when running a game it says "wiimote 1 disconnected by emulator" and will not reconnect or register any inputs of any kind, it will always appear as connected to dolphin but won't ever reconnect. I've been trying to get this to work for around 5 hours with absolutely no progress passed getting the controller fully connected to dolphin... Is there anything I can do? (Yes it's a normal Wii remote and I'm using dolphin 5.0)

Hey, so I followed the tutorial, and it shows on the list of devices connected and all that. But it wont connect to Dolphin for whatever reason. Do you know the cause? I have it set to continuous scanning and I press 1 and 2 at the same time on the wiimote while the controller settings with continuous scanning enabled is open.

I have two remote controls, but I can only connect one of them, the one with the 'WiiMotionPlus inside' sign... the other one doesn't detect the bluethoot. Why??
i have a windows 7 computer and its not working
my bluetooth dongle isnt connecting all of my controllers properly. I'm holding 1+2 and its not connecting, sometimes the connected device will disappear from the devices and printers menu and will attempt to reconnect. this continues over and over and will not connect or the device will be showing but the controller icon is faded and cannot right click to controller settings.
Are you pressing the Sync button when initially connecting to the computer?
Is there a way you could connect the wii remote and use your mouse as the pointer? Because I tried setting up the wii remote via emulated wii controller mode so that I could use regular wii controller functions + the mouse as a pointer because I don't have a proper sensor bar.
Basically no. It will not act the way you're thinking you want it to. I have a slightly more in-depth answer somewhere in these comments I think, but short answer is no.

Make sure you're holding the red sync button down as you're clicking to "add a device." Otherwise if you have doubt that your bluetooth version is up-to-date (version 3.0 or later), make sure you're using at least Bluetooth version 3.0 (hard to come by older versions anyway). To find your bluetooth version, you can do a number of things. If you bought an adapter, sometimes they print on the plug portion of the adapter which version it is. Or you can simply check your purchase and what they listed it as. But to really know the nitty gritty of what your version is, right click the start menu icon, click Device Manager, and with Bluetooth turned on, go under Bluetooth and search for your bluetooth interface device, whether it's integrated or an external adapter. It should be obvious by the name which is your default/integrated receiver but in the case of the latter, you should see a device called something like "Generic Bluetooth Radio." Right click that, click Properties, click Advanced, and for the firmware version, you will want "LMP 5.0" or later. LMP 5.x means Bluetooth version 3.0, and 6.x is 4.0. So as long as you're higher than firmware version 5.x, you're gravy.
Now the reason you would want to do any of that is simply to ensure your Bluetooth version supports the speeds at which the Wiimote is required to communicate with. But if you know your bluetooth version, you can ignore the entire first portion of this comment and simply try reinstalling the device a couple times, and get back to me if that did nothing.

Does the Bluetooth adapter have to be 3.0? I have a 5.0 one but I'm not sure if it will work. I don't even have an option to turn Bluetooth on or off in settings either, so I'm a bit confused
Anything 3.0 and beyond, so yes, your stuff will work! But also if you don't see the option to switch Bluetooth on and off, and you do have it, that is certainly confusing...
It worked for me, my wii mote paired but for some reason I can do anything with the wii mote, i see the light for the player 1 and it vibrated indicating it paired but i cant do anything else with it. Its not accepting any input
If the lights have stopped flashing and it is simply on, then you're connected to Dolphin successfully. You simply have to use your mouse/keyboard to open the video game file.

Paired it up perfectly a couple of days ago, wasn't having other issues so unpaired a bunch of devices, today I went to pair it back up again and it showed in discoverable devices, clicked through the password prompt and it began installing just as before, but then it BSODed and now it's not showing in the add a device window, any advice?
Just keep trying to re-add it. It may take a lot of attempts to reinstall a wiimote even on a computer that once recognized it before. It could take 20 minutes or more, depending on how stubborn your pc is. I would also suggest one of the newest versions of Dolphin to make things easier.

Pretty much, yeah; you do not have to do the device installation after doing it successfully once. As for connecting to Dolphin, there have been minor updates since stable 5.0 that make connecting wiimotes even easier. I don't know exactly which version this was made possible but anything past version 5.0-10056 will save you a couple clicks. But it's not like you turn on your computer or just open Dolphin and your wiimote automatically connects, no. The latter case _is_ possible if you had pressed the 1 & 2 buttons shortly before opening a newer version of Dolphin. But you do still have to press buttons on your wiimote to connect to Dolphin.

Make sure it's indeed connected to the pc. Multiple attempts may be required. Assuming it is properly connected to the pc, simply be fast with connecting it to Dolphin. If that still doesn't work, once again make sure you're still connected to the pc. It may take many, MANY attempts.
This problem keeps on happening to me where I've connected the wii remote to my computer successfully, then my wii remote won't connect to dolphin, and when I click refresh on continuous scanning dolphin stops responding and I have to force quit dolphin. Im using dolphin 5.0
Make sure that your wiimote controller option is appropriate for your wiimote. For REAL wiimotes, use the "real wiimote" option. For all other (3rd party) devices, make sure "emulated" or "hybrid" is checked off.
It may take a few attempts and Dolphin may freeze or crash when clicking refresh. But a couple retries should fix the issue. If the problem persists, make sure you are pressing the 1 and 2 buttons at the same time, and that the appropriate wiimote option is selected.

Absolutely!
The original OEM Nintendo hardware (the Wiimotes themselves) only even have Bluetooth version 2.0, likely due to the fact that older versions can transceive signals at longer distances than newer versions.
Though that's basically a non-issue with most people, and I suggest newer Bluetooth versions due to the simple fact that newer technology frequently use newer versions of Bluetooth such as Bt v4.0 & 5.0. And adapters with newer versions of Bluetooth will future-proof any potential compatibility issues with Bluetooth devices you may buy in the future, since every iteration of Bluetooth is backwards compatible.
So yes, you will definitely be able to connect multiple wiimotes at the same time with Bt v4.0 :)
So I got everything installed and functional. When I go to connect to Bluetooth is shows up as input device, but it said it can't connect and to check if the device is still discoverable.
Keep retrying the connection. Eventually it will show the right code when it's ready to be properly installed. Just cancel the process whenever it shows "Input Device" and go back and add it again, until it shows the right code. Scrub, rinse, repeat until, like I said just before, the right code shows up

Wiimote ist connected to dolphin but nothing happens while pressing buttons in the game. I think its a drivers problem in win10 but loehrs driver doesnt work too. I dont know what to do now. It just worked once and then every new connection tried failed to run the mote working in games..
I would suggest trying un-pairing the device from the pc, then pair it again. Also try messing around with the "certificate" option in Loehr's wiimote installer, if it still isn't working after all that.

So if you haven't extracted and tried applying the HID Wiimote Installer yet, continue trying to install the wiimotes with the ordinary control panel installation. And try that method a whole bunch of times until it shows up and stays in the Devices menu.
Even for computers that have had multiple wiimotes connected before, it may take a dozen attempts or more to successfully reconnect them.

As far as helping you here and now goes, I won't _be_ of much help. Idk much about Windows 11 but from what I can gather, that was your first mistake oof.
The only thing I can even think of trying is the new "Windows Settings" (what should pop up if you click Start -> Settings, or Win Key + i), as opposed to the legacy settings via Control Panel like I've shown here. If that doesn't help at all, you're better-suited finding help elsewhere.
when i click "next" after the passcode it says installing device but i waited an hour and the bar is still on 0% but the wiimote says its paired

Assuming what you're saying is that your wiimote is of the brand "rock candy", that is what's considered a "3rd-party device". Because of this, you will need to change the option in Dolphin controller settings to "emulated wiimote", and if that doesn't work, try the "hybrid" option.

I'm about to buy real Wiimote Pluses for Dolphin now. Currently I use Joycons which are good but not as accurate.

I don't know anything about GlovePie, so my only suggestions with the knowledge I have are to try using an official Nintendo-brand Wiimote if you're currently using a 3rd-party device. And to also try update GlovePie to the newest version. That's all I've got, and am making no promises here

Of course! Just connect them the same way, one by one; do not try connecting multiple wiimotes at once as this will randomly assign "port" numbers to each player, and from my memory, possibly not assign anything at all.
Keep in mind that if it is necessary to do the HID installer method, you do not have to re-open that program for every controller; once should be enough. Though you may have to fiddle with options if you're really struggling later on.

Slightly longer answer: as long as you have at least 2 light sources that are level, you should be able to use the wiimote's IR functionality. Search up "wii candle trick" to see an example of what I'm talking about

Yep, I wouldn't post this if it wasn't.
Many big brands like Android, Google, etc. will have warnings like that to dissuade users from using non-proprietary software. Some warnings are legit, sure, but a lot of the time they read as false-positives.
Which, when it gets to that point, prevents people from using apps like NewPipe; seriously, check out NewPipe if you ever use UA-cam on your phone. It has background play where you can freeze the video but still have audio play, as well as the fact that you can use other apps at the same time and even turn your phone screen right off and still have the audio playing. It also has built-in adblocking, direct downloading for audio and video, and even the ability to create playlists with a local account instead of needing to sign in with UA-cam, if that's your thing. Really really amazing app, seriously, anyone reading who uses UA-cam on mobile you'd be remiss to not download it.

If your pc does not natively support bluetooth, yes, you will need the bluetooth adapter.

It is possible you will have to double check and make sure the device is properly connect to the pc again. Sometimes computers randomly decide to "unrecognize" devices, so just try re-syncing the wiimote to the pc. Also check batteries lol
