Hi guys. I love the 80's Dokken. I loved Breaking the chains when I first heard it but Tooth and Nail is a classic for me. What a album.

Great discussion. Been a Dokken fan since this kid showed me the Tooth and Nail cassette back in 83 or 84. Met George a few times as well as Don. Don let me go on the bus to meet George on the Dysfuncttual tour. He was hanging with his young daughter and was cool.

The first time I heard Dokken was a tape of masters of metal in 1983 buy K-Tel. I had a Big Ass Boombox jamming to Breaking the chains song.

Don has been doing a lot of press lately to promote his upcoming new album, Heaven Comes Down, and I’ve heard him talk about those outfits the band wore for the photo shoot for the Under Lock & Key LP and he says they spent an obscene amount of money on them, somewhere to the tune of ten grand or something, which, for 1985 timeframe, is a LOT of money adjusted for inflation today. He went on to say that the band only wore those outfits for one or two shows tops and they couldn’t stand them and got rid of them shortly thereafter.

What world are people living in where they aren’t going to vote Trump in 2024? That guy who said he has no chance to win is dead wrong. Been to a grocery store or gas station lately?
As for Dokken, great band. Always put them and Ratt up above the other “hair metal” bands of the 80s. Honestly, I just consider Dokken and Ratt metal bands with no qualifier.

Breaking the Chains and Paris is Burning are the ONLY 2 KILLER tracks (IMO) off the Breaking the Chains album...."Spotty" is a pretty "nice" way to describe it actually... Songs like Felony , Young Girls are just 🤨... BEYOND cringe ta say the least.... Tooth and Nail and Back for the Attack are the MOST "Rockin" 80s DOKKEN albums and the 1st ones I heard. Under Lock and Key is ALL Don's "baby" and again, other than The Hunter song? It too, IS a mixed bag and quite "spotty" and pretty much, REALLY "Twinkie like" in the song department. I became a pretty hardcore DOKKEN fan with the release of BACK for the Attack in the day...I was the guy that had the DOKKEN patch on my jean jacket ALONG WITH the SLAYER, OZZY etc. patches Lol. (ALL my "METAL buddies" gave me LOTS of chyt for that too, obviously Lol.) George too, was one of my FAVORITE guitarists, right next to Randy Rhoads actually...Met George as well on 3 separate occasions at 3 separate guitar clinics in the early 2000s. He was always pretty cool FTMP and I "almost" jammed Mr. Scary on the store's drum set on one occasion, (as George obviously played guitar) but another drummer in the audience obviously had his hand up before me. I definitely, HAD a slow "moment" BEFORE getting the guts to put my hand UP, Lol. Dysfunctional is/was the last good DOKKEN release for my ears. I do have Shadowlife and only can do about 2 tracks off it. Love the Beast in the East and mid 90s DOKKEN LIVE unplugged CD as well. I couldn't DO anything DOKKEN, after Lynch was officially gone from the band.... Anyways, ROCK the funk ON! 😎🤘🔥🤘

Just realized Cole Peterson looks a lot like bass player Sami Yaffa.

In recent interviews, Don and George both take credit for the lions share of the writing credits. Don recently said he wrote the majority of the hits but was generous enough to split the publishing and royalties four equal ways. You then listen to George and he says that’s all bullshit; that he and Jeff wrote most of the songs and got the inspiration for their song titles by reading the TV Guide! So basically, George and Don contradict one another and accuse the other of being full of BS. Somebody’s wrong here. I guess this goes along with the saying, “there’s three versions of the truth: mine, yours, and the actual.”

Yeah, there is some YT footage of the Monsters of Rock tour where George is COMPLETELY "over it", and is actually just sitting on one of the stage monitors (ALL bored n stuff Lol.)....CLASSIC

Breaking The Chains" has 4 tunes and "Tooth & Nail" was their best album.
They did over produce their music though, but "Tooth & Nail" was a very solid album.
After that they were very hit or miss. Great video guys.. Peace.. Joe
