I have the same bike as yours and I was using the stock chain tensioner. On the first attempt at starting the bike the tensioner slid in and broke 8 spokes. We then drilled the tensioner into the frame of the bike so it wouldn’t budge but it decided it wanted to bend and completely destroy my wheel
If you install them carefully they work fine unless your running a hot rod motor. Actually I've heard that getting those sprocket adapters to not slip is a problem. From my personal experience the rag joints work fine but they are a pain in the ass to mount
0:43 This happened to me. It ended up coming loose and breaking two of my spokes. Lucky I was only going like 5mph and turned it off as soon as I heard the weird noise
I put one of these on after countless tinkering with the cheap system that comes with the kits.DEATH TRAPS!!! I upgraded the spring on my tensioner. Bingo. Ready to rip n roll😊
Is the death trap the stock tensioner or the new one with the regular spring? I'm confused by the syntax of your comment. I ordered a new tensioner for myself. Should I upgrade the spring?
Bought this and installed but my top chain hangs and touches my bottom chain?? I tried taking a link off but taking even one link off made it too short and it wouldn’t reach. Any suggestions???
That tensioner does not align chain where it is most likely to derail: where it meshes with rear sprocket. It also slams down during starting procedure
So I need help I just got my spring tension or installed it and everything But the little bolts on the arm Don’t seem to tighten all the way because the inside of the boat cab has some type of interlocking it
I have a stretched out frame and need 2 chain tensioners I purchased the pulley arm tensioner since the other doesn't fit on a 4 stroke does anyone have a video on installing them
I have that Nel Lusso bike, too. I am thinking of putting a friction-mounted motor on it though instead of the 2 stroke as you did. I have already removed that plastic plate and medallion at the frame and will likely be cutting the rack off to allow the friction-mount to be placed on back. If I do that, I'll cap the ends with rubber pieces. These racks are notorious in breaking at the welds. I will be adding a 4-stroke engine. No need for a tension adjuster in what I am planning, but I may pick up another beach cruiser and put in the same type of motor as you have and then add in the tensioner as you did. Nice mod and seems like it should work well. Thanks for posting. Those look like the original tires on your bike. How are they holding up for you?
How do you get the spacing between the 2 chains my chains are so close that they are hitting each other they aren’t lose it’s tight but idk how to get that gap
I recently purchased a used motorized bicycle. I've got over a thousand total in the bike. I'm about to install spring tensioner. Thanks for video. My question is; how tight should chain be set? I've heard both tight and semi-loose and neither has worked. I'm hoping spring tensioner solves problem but which is it? Please!
I’ve seen bikes with no chain tensioner at all..they have a spring loaded one from factory on the bike, do I need one if my mountain bike already has one ? The tensioners are needed for a one speed bike
My plastic wheel tensioner literally exploded off my bike today, hit my spokes and flew off somewhere in to a field. Had to bike home. Ive been researching options for better quality wheel so this dont happen again, a metal one would be perfect.
piece of hose helps save your paint find it helped it grab more evenly . drill thru your frame and tensioner once mint and aligned . locking pin little bolt or something to save the spokes . if u have to run the shitty one like me for now till this part arrives :) cheer s
That's why you take that cheap ass tension in the back of the bike and you weld it right on the frame that's why I do mine I pulled it and I weld it it didn't move yet
any extras anyone has to use like a tensioner and many "upgrades' on the aftermarket besides the kit is a waste of money unless you put together an aluminum bike
i can't wrap my mind around how these moped type bikes work. it just seems like the motor chain would turn the back wheel so the 6 speed chain should move with the back wheel just as quickly and make the pedals spin 20 mph. changing the gears in 6 speed mode while agh. i can't even explain my confusion

First thing u need to do is get rid of that spocket that attaches to the spokes get the one that attaches to the hub

Thumbs up just for the Schoolhouse Rock T-shirt!

You can always add a self tapping screw through the stock tensioner.
Great upgrade, mr steve, thanks, keep sharing on motorize bike tips & tutorials,, bike builts, thanks, joe
I use BOTH chain tensioners, the chain rides very smooth! May need a little modifying.
Me 2

The stock areva death trap. The one that runs off the clutch housing needs a stronger spring.
how is it riding so far??
Bought this and installed but my top chain hangs and touches my bottom chain?? I tried taking a link off but taking even one link off made it too short and it wouldn’t reach. Any suggestions???
so then the chain tensioner is not worth it or why is it beneficial to have a chain tensioner on a bike with a motor what does it help it in?
OH MY GOD! TAKE OF THE PINK DRESS AND TOSS THAT CHAIN GUARD OUT! What men do! LOL
Folks, if you put the chain UNDER the roller, it pushes the bracket out away from your spokes.
That tensioner does not align chain where it is most likely to derail: where it meshes with rear sprocket. It also slams down during starting procedure

Day 2 of my first motorized bike, chain tensioner blows up my back wheel. I'm uninjured and not too far from home, made this same purchase right away.
That exact issue is what happened to my bike lol so I think I’ll buy this thanks man
I actually bent the POS stock tensioner luckily I didn't get hurt
I have a stretched out frame and need 2 chain tensioners I purchased the pulley arm tensioner since the other doesn't fit on a 4 stroke does anyone have a video on installing them
excellent tutorial thanks. about to install one

How did the tensioner work?
That is the best option I have ever seen
I just got my upgraded hain tensioner from BBR for that exact reason. It literally ripped off half of my spokes and destroyed the wheel.
How do you get the spacing between the 2 chains my chains are so close that they are hitting each other they aren’t lose it’s tight but idk how to get that gap
David Method nigga penis
Me too
Same problem
that spring looks very weak? looks like it will stretch eventually.
install a heavier gauge spring like I did
Keeps going in my forks no matter how tight I make it

Take the rest to a motorcycle repair shop and have them stabilized the 420 chain for you about 15-20 bucks
You take your chain guard the top of our connection to the motor and you pulled in between the cover and the engine that's all you got to do
I installed mine and the cranks hit the bolts on the tensioner.
Ohhh nice to know
I crashed because I was looking down at the tensioner and hit the curb
Only $15 . All this time I keep readjusting the tensioner..geez
am gonna get one

@@Steve_Does_Stuff Yeah it’s just a theory of mine I’ve been contemplating. Very curious I just don’t want to destroy anything
Thanks man 👨 🙏
thank you!

It doesn't look like it adds much tension though....

The rear hub “free wheels” So the gear don’t move when you’re doing “20 mph”
Nice
All you have to do is drill a hole through your bicycle and bolt it on
First!! Nice vid.
Do not use this bike frame's crack everyone I've seen built crack just use a different bike
I don’t use one. Been like that for a year or two
That nel lusso is going to break
They r trash and can end up blocking your pedals from clearing thru
This does not work at all
