Ms Lori, I love how you did the Christmas meal series and this 4th July series. I don't celebrate either, but I love watching these and the feel like this is what moms and dads, grandpas and grandmas pass on to the kids over time. So you're like the honorary mom/grandma, keeping traditions going.

I use a dry rub and BBQ sauce on my ribs.
My favorite store bought kind is Jack Daniel's BBQ sauce.
    Our 4th of July menu:
BBQ ribs, grilled hot dogs and cheddar filled sausages, hot dog fixin's, baked beans, potato salad, grilled corn, garlic bread, red, white and blue cake, homemade peach ice cream and assorted drinks.
    Then, sparklers afterwards. 🎆

Oh my this is going to be a long post but I’m so proud of my heritage to such a wonderful family that I was so blessed to have ! I remember my Grandma’s big heavy homemade quilts ! They were a labor of love and in the winter on those cold winter nights they were a blessing to have a couple of them covering you and hugging around you keeping you warm ( no heat in their bedrooms just heat from the leftover heat from the living room fireplace that was allowed to burn down through the night with the hall way door left open from the living room so it could warm up bedrooms a tad) Thank you for those quilts Grandma ! I still have a few of them that I cherish and they are like a hug from her as I’m using them still to this day .. sadly Ma and Pa are no longer with us but are in heaven waiting till we unite one day again!
Ms. Lori I loved all the fabulous and delicious recipes! Good country food is the best .. no frills just a lot of love and simple ingredients that come together into a fantastic tasting dish! Ms Lori you and Mr. Brown make a beautiful sweet couple who show that you are respectful and loving to each other and that is so needed for others to see in this day and time that we are living in …there is so much disrespect for each other on so many tv shows and we need to see that the Biblical way is LOVE one another .. and it makes for a great marriage too! 💕 My hubby and I have been married since June 9th 1979 ! So we are right up there year’s wise with y’all!
I really enjoyed this video and it brought back a lot of memories of when I was a little girl and even as old as an adult ( even with kids of my own with my hubby but were living out of state / or even overseas with my hubby when he was in the military) but when I was growing up all the families would come to Grandma’s and Grandpa’s house for celebrating Holidays and other events and we would cook up so many delicious country style dishes.. a spread of delicious veggies from their garden ( their corn was out of this world delicious no farm corn has ever come close to it to this day! Yum!) but I was truly Blessed to have good Christian country folks as my relatives that lived in the beautiful state of Arkansas! I actually live in AR too about a couple of hours drive away from y’all! But we would all come together ..a huge group because my Mom’s family had a total of 7 kids so include Ma and Pa and all of them and their spouses and kids .. it was a bunch but we would all bring food and make more at Ma’s and Pa’s house and at every function we would all gather around the piano with my Mom playing the piano along with several Uncles and sometimes Pa playing guitars and Grandma and (sometimes Grandpa )playing the harmonica and all of us singing hymns together ! After visiting and singing we would gather around and eat .. after that men folk would relax and visit or nap while the women would clean up and wash dishes and make up leftovers to take back home but being sure to leave plenty for Ma and Pa to eat on for the next four days or so! Now I must mention that my Grandma made the most delicious from scratch buttermilk biscuits and one thing I regret is that I never got her recipe for them nor anyone in our family that I know of ! One of them with her homemade cow’s butter and some of her canned jam oh my divine Yummy beyond belief ! Now Ma and Pa had their home open to all of us to come and celebrate all Holidays and any Birthdays etc way up into their 80’s ! Great times and good memories and a whole lot of the good Lord’s Blessings to have so many years worth of family gatherings to remember! We would always end our celebrations with more singing hymns and a prayer then we would leave tummies full and our hearts full of love for our family ! A lot of Celebrations were on Sunday’s.. so every Sunday we would go to church and then back to Ma’s and Pa’s house to eat a big spread of food ..she would usually fry up a lot of chicken and cook up all the fixings and quite a few desserts as usually the families that lived locally would show up after church to eat lunch before heading back to church abt 6 pm for the evening service ! On some Sundays my Mom and Uncle and his wife after lunch would go to the local prisons around us and preach and sing to the inmates while I stayed at Ma and Pa’s and babysat their kids ,my cousins they would return in time for us all to go back to church ..I was Truly Blessed! Thanks again for your sharing your wonder food and for sharing your recipes for some good country food to celebrate our Holidays with ! Blessings!💕

Bluebell is the absolute best ice cream. I love the nut ice creams. Chocolate Almond, Black Walnut, Pralines n Cream, Pistachio, Coffee Hazelnut, Butter Pecan. Sometimes they offer a specialty like Anniversary Cake and Birthday Cake. The best ice cream they have is only offered in the fall. It's a Pumpkin Caramel Swirl thing. It is so good.

Mr. Brown, our grand son in law loves steaks. Recently he could not get his new grill to fire up...so he used his air fryer. Now we all thought that would result in dry tough meat...but NO!!! When he cooked some small steaks at our son's house one Sunday...we all got a taste. I was amazed! They almost melted in our mouths. I asked him how long he cooked them. He said 5-6 minutes on one side, then he turned them over and let them cook four more minutes.

I adore your videos so much! Much Love from Jules, female disabled US Army veteran, retired to the EU. I sure do miss holidays in the US, especially the Fourth of July, and Thanksgiving. Thank you for bringing me sweet new memories of days gone by when I was a youngster, and when I was growing up. Mom and Dad and the rest of my family in the US are seated with the Lord for several years now, and I'm here close to extended family. The country I'm in is 98% Roman Catholic and staunch believers, and everywhere you look, they celebrate the Lord and Jesus our saviour. It's the closest thing I have in life now to home, yet your videos seem to make me feel even closer. May the Dear Lord always bless you both and all of your loved ones with health, happiness and LOVE for many years to come! You are such wonderful, kind hearted people, and I love your dancing in the intro! HA! Makes me smile every time. How sweet is that dancing? Have a great 4th! Prayers for you all!

We could have been sisters today, as I made my pie crust I pulled out the bowl, butter and lard, no right way no wrong way, went to the garden and got nice fresh rhubarb and strawberries, smells divine as your house did while you were making yours. A trick I did learn from a pie maker was they use clear jel, cook type in all their cooked pies, gets a nice set and clear thickened juice, give it a try some time, same measurements as flour. Mr. Brown makes a nice looking rib, you take such good care of each other, nice to see in this day and age.

Everything looks wonderful Mrs. Lori! You and Mr. Brown are a great team!! It's great that you cook together! I had heard of Cowboy Caviar before but never took the time to check out how it's made. I'm going to add all these great dishes to my recipe box. Ribs, corn on the cob and cobbler are some of my faves. Cowboy caviar looks like it will be another! Thanks so much!!

I've learned to use my Weber kettle for smoking pork shoulders, ribs, even brisket and chuck roasts. It's labor intensive, or manual temperature control. I lay my lump charcoal in a horseshoe and light one end, and with the vents I can keep the temperature consistent. Toss in some smoke wood, and check on it every 20 min or so. Kids love all the smoked proteins. Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed it.

We are absolutely dry rub people, too. We enjoy apple cider vinegar for the tang. That corn, ribs and cowboy caviar has my mouth watering, I wanted to jump right into my computer screen and get me some cobbler. Looks divine! xoxo Happy 4th and God Bless the greatest country on earth!

Yum! All of it looks great. I love corn on the cob, dripping in butter. As kids, we'd wrap the cobs in tin foil and cook them on charcoal grills. The same thing was done with big baking potatoes.
Also when I was a young child, a famous Hollywood California drive-in restaurant, Tiny Naylor's, made legendary deep-dish boysenberry pies. Heated to order and topped with a rich vanilla ice cream, they sold like wildfire.
Back in the good old days, beautiful Southern California home backyards often had custom-built, red brick barbecue ovens. Huge, beautiful things that smoked fantastic meats overnight. A variety of aromatic woods or charcoals was used. They were very high-maintenance, but worth it.

As a Texan I was very glad to see you use a dry rub not very many people cook that way. I’ll always use the apple juice after the ribs have been cooking a while. I don’t want to remove any of the rub. This old gal loves caramelization on the ribs. Yum Yum

I want you to know How much watching your blogs have helped me . I list my mother at a young age., before she had time to teach me canning I remember her tips fir gardening. My mother in law taught me some preserving and canning. I am really grateful to have had her in my life. I’m not a young pup, I’ve worked in healthcare care as a can for 4o years. I’ve picked up some tips from the elderly that I have assisted. I only work part time now I planted a large garden for the first time since retiring. Because of you I’m so excited to put my produce up. Thank you so much God is good he has always taken care of me. He has given me wisdom to get through the trials of life. Mr Brown please continue your scripture readings . Your viewpoints give me food for thought
