Holy crap he made it past the first level of goldeneye
It’s actually quite playable with a semi-modern control setup by using a controller profile where the sticks are swapped (c buttons on the left stick, analog on the right) and using control scheme 1.2 in the game. I been the game on secret agent with those settings on my tab s6 using an 8bitdo sn30 pro+. Currently halfway though 00 agent difficulty so far on same settings
I use what can it emulate to determine how good a piece of hardware is.
I judge these devices the same way
Also If it can play ps2 it’s a pretty damn good device!

@@jwill7998 you can emulate ps2 on android. But it's far from. Perfect. That's more to do with the emulator than the hardware it's running on though. It's just not there. Hell even my far from flagship xperia xz1 can get ps2 running through daemon emulator but it's not playable. I can also get citra with sound issues. And even some gc games run playable. Not bad for a phone that I only paid 130gbp for

This has been my favorite video from your channel. My brother’s girlfriend has the exact same tablet. But she uses it as a drawing tablet. I even suggested to her that she could use it as an emulation device.

Very accurate on the Dolphin emulator. Had a Tab S6 lite a while back and the Gamecube games were very choppy.
I have one of this, my wife bought it for work but now she doesn't use it, so its kind of mine now lol, I was wishing it might run some GameCube, but the fact that it runs Dreamcast at 1080p is more than enough for me (I am very pleased buying redream emulator worth the support for them), most of my retro game library comes from deamcast anyhow so this thing should work great as a retro station, I wanted to experiment more with this device but sadly it is also not compatible with ubuntu touch, anyhow it is amazing how every time I have a gadget that I want to test, if I use youtube eta prime always pops up and has a video about the device!!!! beyond awesome!!!

Hey ETA, this is just an FYI, but..
I'm in the middle of setting up a dedicated emulation box for fighters/brawlers/shooters. Something that completely surprised me was how poorly a PS2 shooter called Silpheed performed. Seemed more demanding than even GoW2.
So, just another title to check out and maybe add to your PS2 testing in the future.

Using the standalone emulators u can play up to 3DS, I have a s6 lite and I play a lot of nds and 3ds
Thank you for testing many devices throughout the years. It does help me and many others on picking a device before spending our money. The Tab S6 Lite 2022 is a decent tablet that I picked up at a decent price just to read Manga, and I have been using to watch UA-cam and Anime when I'm out. It is interesting to know that it can play up to Dreamcast and PSP, just in case I decide to play retro games when I'm out.
The Tab S6 Lite 2022 definitely has a better CPU than the original S6 Lite, but I am not willing to emulate the harder systems.
Can you do this test on the 2022 model?
The closing comments are a good example of why it would be better to buy the more powerful phone for $100 less and spend that money on a DEX style dock to hook up to a TV/monitor and have a complete experience of a media centre, gaming rig and phone, which is why I would like to see some videos of how to create the best budget all round solution that can fulfil just about every function.

Both Amazon and Walmart came out with refreshed tablets with 2.0ghz processors in the last couple weeks. Those might be better priced for a similar performance level.

I don't care for anything above PS1/PSP so for me it's a great device with resonable price. Have one and I'm very happy with it.
LOVE your channel. Super interested in how the Lenovo Duet Chrome OS emulation works with its ARM chip on board. I love the idea of using a tablet as a mobile gaming/emulation platform, but Chrome OS always seems to be the more justifiable investment compared to Android tablets in terms of versatility and compatibility. Since the Duet is running on an ARM chip, I'm very curious how it compares to the Samsung tablets and Intel based devices like the Pixel Slate.
Hey ETA, what build did you use for Dolphin? There's a Dolphin-Mod apk that runs Really good. And why aren't you using the official Citra release? That runs a lot better!

The exynos 9611 has the same performance as the snapdragon 665
That's pretty crazy then considering citra official will supposedly run on a 660 (although my research says that a 660 is better than a 665?)
What do you use to compare? Antutu, techcenturion, something else?
Wrong. Exynos chips are infamous for underperforming in emulation. While for some other tasks they might work as good as Snapdragon chips (they fall flat in some others as well), they are a terrible choice for emulation. Dolphin runs superbly with this much RAM and Snapdragon 650 and higher. The problem here is Exynos.
@@boblablaw4857 you are not wrong here. 660 is faster than 665. I guess it has to do with Mali GPUs, they aren't famous for great emulation performance. Something to do with horrible GPU drivers.
You should be leading with the Saturn in the title, I see that as the benchmark. If a device can emulate Saturn full speed it's taken for granted it can run PSP and Dreamcast
The video shows it barely running PSP GOW, i.e. 50+ fps @ 1x res, so not good enough. As suggested, you're better off with a Tab S5e or Tab S4.
Will you be doing a Galaxy Tab s7 plus video? that thing is a beast.
So in terms of emulation would you rather go for the older, more powerfulTab S4 or the newer but less powerful Tab S5e?

Have you used MMJ DOLPHIN ? And the NEW citra ? Normally they should run on a 2.3 GHz device
Can the IPEGA PG-9023 controller fit these tablets? It says 10 inch but it does stretch a bit more. I may get the s6 since it does up to PS2 and WII fine.

DS emulation works really well.
Save your money and get either a Fire HD 10 for similar gaming perforamance. Or get a Tab s4, yes tab s4, instead for about 250$ now. It has a headphone jack, which is crucial for gaming or video. Bluetooth audio is too laggy. Plus the tab s4 has the snapdragon 835, which will crush this.
Bcoz this come out, now tab s4 price goes up little bit compared than 2 months ago.(in my country)

250 dollars used maybe, but they'll have a burnt in display because its oled. and the tablet in this video has a headphone jack so idk why you're bringing that up.
Any plans on getting hold of the new Fire HD 8 Plus tablet? Looks pretty decent for the price, and I'd be interested in its emulation performance before buying (I'm aware it won't be as good as this :-D).

It has a stronger chip than the S6 Lite, but the inclusion of Dex is ultimately what makes it a better buy than the S6 Lite.
hey etaprime, could you review how the tab s6 lite runs linux? for example a debian lxde desktop installed using termux/proot-distro and displaying through xsdl server?maybe test some apps like gimp and libreoffice? i can't find any info about the s6 lite regarding linux. thanks.

Hey, thanks for all the great work you do. I cannot ANYWHERE, including from multiple samsung support people, confirm whether dex runs at 60hz or 30hz, or whether it depends. Could you please, please test this or respond if you know? I'm in the market for a new phone, and that is sorta a dealbreaker for me. I've heard dual screen affects it, I've heard resolution affects it, etc. I'd also love to know the max supported resolution. Officially it says 3440x1440, but samsung support wouldn't confirm it. I've asked on reddit, searched forums and youtube. Cannot find the answers.
EDIT: I've also seen conflicting reports about displayport being supported. I was looking at your suggested dongle, then was looking at the significantly more expensive dp dongles, and wanted to know if it was worth it. Would love a new vid that goes really deep into dex and various related software (I think lg has a not as good version) and hardware compatibility issues with emulation.
The 2022 version has the Snapdragon 720G with the Adreno 618 GPU instead of an Exynos 9611 with the Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. Do you really think it could handle the Gamecube/PS2 emulation demands?
Interesting how the emulation on Dreamcast is much smoother than N64, which is one generation earlier.

Can you do a full on review on CoD Mobile? I've been thinking of getting a tablet with a big enough screen where I can play it but I'm not sure on the type of performance for hours of game play on the game. If you can do that it would be great!
Bro I use my tab s4 and it works just fine and looks good too. So on tab s6 should look just as good if not better!!!

It's always interesting to me, when it comes to videos like this, that so few seem to ever mention that framerate isn't the best indicator of performance for N64 titles, as they have naturally fluctuating frame rates on native hardware as well, outside of some games that were SPECIFICALLY designed around having a rock solid framerate (F-zero comes to mind). Checking the audio for stutter is actually usually a better indicator, in my experience. At least when you don't have a real N64 on hand to compare with.

Soulcalibur 2 is one of my favorite games
I don't know about other games but mine runs god of war 1 and 2 pretty well in damonps2. It's definitely playable at between 30 and 40 fps

U can try it yourself, if u dont know thst will it make ur laptop crash, no it wont only a dolphin.exe stopped responding page will come and u can close tab from there or if you are planning to buy one i can test for u

Somehow i realized there's an input lag for my ipega dual thorn gamepad.
It's noticeable on Huawei Mate 20x and Galaxy Fold.
Directional pad isn't that great for fighting games as well.
Fold is good for older games on 4:3 ratio thou.
Anytime you see exynod on a Samsung product the performance is crappy vs what Qualcomm can offer, 720 or 730g.
Do you know if this ipega controll fits the Pixel Slate? Or any telescopic controllers that do?

Every emulator has it's own settings. I've tried PPSSPP's myself.

I'll second the tab s6 like ETA mentioned. It is an absolute beast and the most powerful Android tablet currently available. The AMOLED screen is worth it alone!

I happen to have this set up here with the ipega 9167 and the Galaxy S6 lite but when I extend the controller to fit on the tablet the right hand controls stop working. Has this happened to you before?

I'd say get a laptop, if your job is mainly focused on Microsoft office product as the mobile app versions are rubbish compared to the PC side of the spectrum

I bought this tablet. Most psp games via PPSSPP worked well enuff. My complaint is acually the bluetooth controller.There's huge bluetooth lag. So much so it's really unusable. I checked the net and found some users don't have this issue while others did. I'd totally skip this productand get something else.
So it seems that redream is lagging a bit for me, hmm I wonder why. I'm try Jet Grind Radio. I just have it on stock settings because if I go to 1280x960 it is a stuttering mess.

In gamecube if you have sounds glitch problems you can change the core speed but not manually from dolphin
although is not hard to put on work

Any good alternatives to Balena Etcher out there? Downloaded both Windows x64 versions and had the same issue where you just get a blank grey screen when you start it up after install, devs have been notified of the issue via their forums.

The base iPad is the same price and can run Dolphin at full speed though.

How do I get DS emulator's menus to appear on the Galaxy Tab S6 Lite? Game works, but can't access the emulator's menu when pressing on the middle button of screen.

ETA prime a little off subject. Could you do a video on adding a pc to a AT games legends cabinet. I know there has to be a way to integrate the monitor with a pc since it already HDMI based. The only issues is the controls. How to integrate the controls including the track ball and spinners via blue tooth or ipac without losing the original functionality of the base system. I'm guessing there a way to use the switcher on the machine to switch between a pc and the standard hardware. So in other words you can integrate a pc and keep the original functionality of the machine with the touch of a button this would be the ultimate mod. Please consider this thanks so much
Exynos is trash for emulating.Snapdragon devices are much better.I was an exynos user for a while before I changed to Snapdragon device.My fps went from 3 to 33 in a flash of time.
Seems to be on par performance wise with a samsung galaxy tab s2 then as that wouldnt emulate the psp god of war games on anything other that native resolution. It wouldnt even run dolphin due to its 32 bit architecture though. But if your buying a samsung tab to emulate on a budget Get a used s2. It will equal the s6 lite and a used version can be had for a fraction of the price
I still contend that calling those chips Octa-core is disingenuous (I know it's how they list it in the spec sheets I am not saying you are calling them that, you are just repeating what they are claiming), they are Big Little layout meaning they are only ever a quad core CPU, there just happens to be two quad cores in the single package, it's never using all 8 at once or even more than 4 at once. It's a Quad core at 2.3GHz or (not and) a Quad core at 1.7GHz.
Newer SOCs are able to use all cpu cores at once.
@@avocatdelamusique9778 It's a real pity they are worse at emulation and other tasks than a dual core x86 chip from 2006. Yeah they use less power but it's pretty bad when an x86 can emulate an ARM chip better than an ARM chip can be an ARM chip.
Do the 2022 version, it has a snapdragon chipset so its better optimised for emulation
