The dummy has one other thing you can do flee I've done that and toriel has text saying oh I wanted you to talk to it but fleeing works as well or something along those lines
My friend got that and was confused. I ended up sitting on the couch doing character voices while he was playing. I didn't explain about Jerry. He went with the name, and when we got to Snowdin Jerry showed up. I told him to voice the character in the middle. He laughed when he saw it was Jerry. Jerry became his favorite character. That was definitely a fun surprise for him.
I remember my first blind playthrough, i accidentally killed toriel thinking I had to weaken her to spare her. I reloaded and spared her. Flowey's dialogue freaked me out that first time.
One other thing in hard mode: When taking candy, it only lets you take 3 instead of 4; when attempting to take the 4th it says something along the lines of "In this hellish world, you can take only 3 pieces of candy."

"Do not worry about me. Someone has to take care of these flowers" is the exact same thing Asriel says if you come back to that same spot in the epilogue of the true pacifist run. I'm sure someone already mentioned this, but it was fun noticing it so I thought I'd share.
Not sure if it's been said, but in the hard mode, checking napstablook yields new text: Napstablook- ATK 10 DEF 10 Missed the memo and is the same difficulty as normal.
I had not heard that one before. Thanks for sharing! At the end of this series of videos, I plan to include a finale, that includes any ommissions / oversights. I'll write it down for when that time comes :)
The toys in Asriel's room are described as dusty, and in the librarby in Snowdin, it says a monster's dust is spread on their favourite things after they die. ;(
huh, I just noticed the "don't you have anything better to do" line which comes back wayyyyy later after the end of a True Pacifist run if you go back to the very first room in the game and exhaust the dialogue options in there. that's really amusing actually.
I don't know if anyone pointed this out already but before Flowey corrects himself from "bullets" to "friendliness pellets" he actually looks over at the text box and frowns, I just love all the little details in this game
In the four frogs room, there is normally anoth frog that is there to tell the player how to skip text, but if you already were skipping text prior to that, he doesn’t appear, which is probably why you didn’t see him. That means that the frog in the wall is normally the elusive fourth frog. I think there might be a few other Easter eggs related to skipping text, but I can’t remember them
Ahh that makes a lot of sense!! I had to reload a lot of times to capture specific interactions, so I was really sailing through a lot of the text. When I follow this video up, I'll clarify that - and show any other skipping interactions that show up. Thanks!
I think on Switch the interaction with the frog in the wall is like (Sorry I don't remember how it goes exactly) *You peeked in the crack. *There is a tiny frog... wait there's two! *You got to experience something that only a person who has seen two frogs could see. Or something like that.
Okay. So on the Switch, I have all three frogs in the room. And am observing the crack in the wall. This is what it says. *(There's a small crack in the wall here.) *(There's a frog inside. . . ) *(Wait! There are two!) *(You had a wonderful exclusive experience. . . ) *(. . . that only someone who saw two frogs could feel.) That is on Switch. I don't know what it is for the other consoles. I only have a Nintendo Switch.
To be fair, Flowey is constantly projecting through his dialogue. He basically disguises his own self-hatred as insults and criticism towards the player/Frisk. He probably calls you disgusting for what you did because he thinks he's disgusting for doing it himself. He isn't naturally drawn towards negative options since he originally used his reset powers for good, but he went down darker paths when boredom set in. And I kinda relate to that because I always have my darkest thoughts when I'm bored, which is why I like to have a lot of distractions around me at all times. I'd probably go insane too if my options for entertainment and distractions were as limited as his.
I think its also entirely possible that sans intoduced himself as he tends to do as “sans the skeleton” so she thinks up some skeleton based puns. Also that shingles one is heard later at the end of the true pacifist route.
@Mary L220 ya its pretty clear that sans talked more about papyrus than himself, wich is also kinda true in his interactions with frisk, i think the first time he tells toriel his name is when they see eachother for the first time
Flowey has unique dialogue in the very first room where you meet him every time you reset, slowly getting more impatient. The battle dialogue is the same each time, though.
I'll look into that, thanks! I either want to roll forward things I missed into the Snowdin video, or save them all up for one big "others" video at the end. TBD
Something I like about the “take a piece of candy” room is that in its early design it had a sign that said “please take all” or something similar, but after you took the first piece of candy it would claim that “it’s too heavy to take another piece of candy”
25:29 She doesn't have red eyes because she was never meant to. In the kickstarter beta files. Toriel is seen on top of a red tinted background which happens to be the same color as her eyes! Toby probably had the brightness of his screen low because he forgot to change the color of the eyes back to black!
7:32 also my favorite part about this is that in geno route, when you kill her, she says" you really hate me, don't you". And usually in videogames, speedrunners/100%ers tend to dislike how long tutorials take, which is yet again another small attention to detail i love about this game.
If you call Toriel while at the Artifact room, before deploying the dog, you can know why she stopped answering your calls: the dog stole her phone again.
7:48 actually, the french translation for tutorial is "Tutoriel" and to say "you kill toriel" we say "tu tues toriel",and since the "es" at the end of "Tues" is silent, we pronounce it Tutoriel, like a tutorial. if this was just an accident, this is epic. if it was meant to be a joke for the french people made by toby fox himself, this is even more epic 👀

@@GippyHappy Yeah you can’t kill him. That’s why you lose experience points. He was purposely reducing his health to make it look like you were hurting him.
I learnt this in my own playthrough when Toriel asks you what pie you want (Cinnamon/Butterscotch) you answer either one. Then load into the most recent save before the question. She will automatically make a guess on which one you want due to the previous answer.
ACTUALLY, here is a secret. (Or hidden thing.) If you choose to kill flowey in the nuteral run, when you do a reset, flowey will be missing in the begining. If that doesn't work. Try killing anyone you come across. No true genocide.
That really is the hope. The Ruins was relatively simple to tackle. Things start getting preeetty off the rails pretty quickly beyond this. I may need to rethink my overall strategy...
6:59 Fun fact I learned from Shayy: after Flowey corrects himself here, if you press Z, the text disappears, leaving the box blank. And if you press Z 10 times before the box disapears, he'll say "stop it".
When I was 7, I entered "Frisk" and as you know it said "This name will make your life hell." And I laughed and showed my sister. She being the Undertale know-it-all she is, she said "Wait, no! That'll activate hard mode!!!! She has saved my life from being hell. I thank her to this day.
Yep, except the flowers they are aren't the same as the one on their grave! They killed themself by eating buttercups (which are poisonous, even irl), and the flowers on their grave are their favorite flower, Golden Flower. Toriel most likely planted Golden Flowers on Chara's grave in rememrance of them, since they loved these flowers (Toriel also have seeds of those flowers in one of her drawer) ^w^
31:56 In a similar vain, if you manage to get killed by Toriel and then reload, she has this same dialogue before the fight. Then, when you talk in battle, it slightly changes to say "You thought about telling Toriel that she killed you", then continues on like here.
This new channel is intended to be for all non-Let's play content! I am kind of gambling on this a bit, and cannot monetize until it hits 1000 subscribers. So please be sure to share the video if you liked it, and to hop on board! I'm very happy you chose to follow me over here. Cheers, and happy new year!
I have it mostly mapped out. But these videos take a lot of hours to put together. Unfortunately with things as they are, I have to focus on smaller videos until I have more time again. Hopefully I can get this series back on track soon!
19:40 That frog is actually the fourth frog in the room, there can be a third “normal” frog there if you haven’t skipped any text. The third frog (which is normally by the sign) will tell you about skipping text, and disappears if you already have done so.
i know this video is kinda old and i dunno if anyones pointed out, but toriel baking a snail pie in hard mode wasnt an accident, in the call where she would normally tell you about how she hasnt cleaned up and about saving room in your pockets, she calls and asks if you like anything other than butterscotch or cinnamon. and if later you talk to the the froggit near where you find the toy knife, he will tell you that instead of toriel coming back carrying groceries, she was empty handed and looked disappointed, implying she could not find the ingredients. she wanted to bake us a nice butterscotch cinnamon pie but had to resort to snails instead
Something you missed is how after many playthroughs (Not sure what the exact amount is), Flowey will go into the ground instead of talking to you in that second room and you instantly meet Toriel. Later on, Flowey won’t appear at all.
Flowey also follows you in the long water room before where monster kid falls off the bridge in Watwrfall, and if you talk to the echo flower that Flowey was near, it gives special dialogue. It also gives different dialogue depending on whether or not you killed Toriel.
Fun things you could do when you've played it many times like I have 8:34 speed fail 19:15 fun little flavor text dummy stuff 12:08 waiting. I have my game open doing this one rn, will take a half hour I think 15:33 flowey 18:12 only last rock 19:18 four frogs (2 in the crack on switch) 19:57 no more yellow! And pink 21:36 water sausage 24:30 toriel boss fight 25:35 backtrack 27:19 flowey 30:55 betray kill A lot of loading and killing and stuff 34:29 hard mode, in the switch version you unlock an awesome border, but don't reset or you'll loose it.
The sign in the labelled switches room says "Stay on the path". Like in the previous room, this is actually a hint to the puzzle: you need to flip every switch that is on the path, and not flip the ones that aren't.
32:40 I think this is the best one, just because you can get it on accident, like Flowey said: you killed her on accident, you regretted it, you went back, you spared her; all of this could have happened in your first playthrough and THAT'S creepy!
So there's this weird Steven Universe name Easter egg in the beginning. If you name your character Soup (A reference to a Steven universe character that looks like frisk) and restart the game, there will be a bit of extra dialogue at the beginning story thing.
Oh my god I can't believe I missed these videos. I'm so glad you've done more undertale -- your undertale secrets/theories/etc videos are the best ones on youtube.
Glad you like them! So far it's still just the one. I really should get to work the follow up!! I have it written out and planned, I just need to record the footage!
the effort that toby fox put in to emphasize that we, the player, as just like flowey always astounds me. this game is so complex and clearly took a real understanding of How people play games and strive to find the outcomes of all possible combinations of choices to reflect that directly with flowey, who killed and spared just to know what would happen, and its so very impressive to me.
I'm so happy you're revisiting Undertale! I love this content, it's really useful for people like me who don't have the opportunity or skill to replay the game a ton of times
19:40 no actually there are 4 frogs, but you can't see the 1st frog if you skip even a single dialogue and if u don't skip he will tell u about how to skip dialogue and how his friends skipped his talk but you listened
Something you missed: if you do the pacifist route and get the knife, its says you found a toy knife, but if you go full genocide and find that knife, you get a new piece if dialogue. (No spoilers)
I may be incorrect, and it might have already been pointed out in the comments, but i think during Toriel's fight she only goes out of her way to not hit you when you reach a certain point in her dialogue through sparing, rather than her actively not trying to hit you during the full battle, possible that this is what Two Left Thumbs was saying and i misinterpreted aha
I always thought Toriel having coloured eyes in battle was just my eyes playing tricks on me. Kind of reassuring to have someone else confirm it! I still headcanon her having red-ish-brown eyes tho
Note: at the beginning when she gives you the cell phone she says it’s dangerous to go by yourself and basically says take this. This is obviously a reference to the legend of Zelda “It’s dangerous to go alone, take this” am I the only one who realized this?
Actually, when Flowey says "That's a wonderful idea!", it's a sped up diolouge from a 1960s McDonald's commercial of Ronald McDonald saying the exact same thing.
Fun fact: Flowey's voice line is actually from Ronald McDonalds' voice line from an old McDonalds commercial, but it is distorted and the pitch is hightened.
23:45 I may be wrong, but I think in Undertale, the chair she's sitting in is just her reading chair. Chairiel is the chair in her room! On the other hand, the chair she sits in in Deltarune (which looks like the reading chair from Undertale) is called Chairiel. I kind of wonder if Toby misremembered that as well when making Deltarune. Great video, consider me subscribed! I look forward to the next one!
Fun fact: if you edit your name in the game's files to names that you can't use (like gaster, sans, etc) you can get away with it. Also naming yourself "frisk" does not trigger hardmode.
11:00 you mentioned that torial has red eyes, I believe it's an oversight. Also I love how even the puzzles which are scripted to be done with her have solutions. And something barely anyone ever talks about and I'm glad that you brought it up.
If you restart the game at certain point, Flowey's dialogue will be different at the start. Recently, I did a run where I restarted my game before finishing the pacifist route (I transferred my PS4 data onto my new PS5 and decided to start the game form the beginning), when I encountered Flowey at the start, he said, "This time, make sure you befriend EVERYONE," then promptly left, and when Toriel showed up, her dialogue was different as well.
Imagine just wanting to annoy a flower on your first playthrough and getting lore heavy dialogue. Also: If we get a voiced Undertale thing, this guy need to play flowey.
When I Went to the beginning of the map in the true pacifist run, there was asriel standing in the exact same position and first text line as toriel 26:40 , it's cool to see such small easter eggs in the game.
19:48 There are fourth frogs in this room, but the last one disappears than you skip dialogues. If you didn’t do that before it will be there. (Sorry for my bad English, I’m Russian)
Thank you all SO much for watching this!

Thanks for the ❣️ ghram!
It also works if you reset before you kill sans in a true genocide
Yeah this happened to me when I was trying to do True Genocide.. frick. -h
Too bad naming yourself "Papyru" doesn't replace every sprite in the game with Papy's...
I hope this series ends up cataloging every secret and deviation in Undertale. The game deserves it.
That really is the hope. The Ruins was relatively simple to tackle. Things start getting preeetty off the rails pretty quickly beyond this. I may need to rethink my overall strategy...
Two Left Thumbs how’s this video series going by the way?
6:59 Fun fact I learned from Shayy: after Flowey corrects himself here, if you press Z, the text disappears, leaving the box blank. And if you press Z 10 times before the box disapears, he'll say "stop it".
Fun fact: I just realized. Listen closely to both of flowey's laugh. OF has the normal laugh, but normal flowey is just way quieter.
I loved when flowey said *"RUN. INTO. THE. BULLETS."*
and he's just like: friendliness pellets*
@@Junebilation7900 when he does this he looks at the dialogue box like

OMG I JUST REALIZED THAT IN THE GAME OVER SCREEN, ASGORE IS TALKING TO CHARA WHEN SHE ATE THE BUTTERCUP FLOWERS 💐
The tutorial is to go "to Toriel"
Ha
ayyyyyy. 👉😎👉
MIGRANE
Heh. In French, tutorial is spelled "tutoriel" and pronounced the exact same way as "tue Toriel", which means "kill Toriel."
@@user-ce3oc6xv2c
oh god-
When I was 7, I entered "Frisk" and as you know it said "This name will make your life hell." And I laughed and showed my sister. She being the Undertale know-it-all she is, she said "Wait, no! That'll activate hard mode!!!! She has saved my life from being hell. I thank her to this day.
I would do that to my sister
the flowerbed is actually charas grave, the flowers sprouted from chara bc they ate buttercups so azriel didnt have to die :D

@@xv.arkangel Yeah I know, I wrote my original comment three years ago 😭
31:56 In a similar vain, if you manage to get killed by Toriel and then reload, she has this same dialogue before the fight. Then, when you talk in battle, it slightly changes to say "You thought about telling Toriel that she killed you", then continues on like here.

This new channel is intended to be for all non-Let's play content!
I am kind of gambling on this a bit, and cannot monetize until it hits 1000 subscribers. So please be sure to share the video if you liked it, and to hop on board! I'm very happy you chose to follow me over here.
Cheers, and happy new year!

I like this kind of content better tbh
Not to be pushy or anything, but when are you going to cover the next area? I really love this type of content!
I have it mostly mapped out. But these videos take a lot of hours to put together. Unfortunately with things as they are, I have to focus on smaller videos until I have more time again. Hopefully I can get this series back on track soon!
I found this Chanel while watching a video
If this was only the ruins, imagine the WHOLE GAME.
19:40 That frog is actually the fourth frog in the room, there can be a third “normal” frog there if you haven’t skipped any text. The third frog (which is normally by the sign) will tell you about skipping text, and disappears if you already have done so.
What if u dont skip text until u reach the frog room, by then u skip one of the other frogs' text. What haplens?
@@eagletgriff I think it just stays there
Buuuuut... it also means that Froggit says that he saw only 3 Froggits here and with him there's 4 Froggits!
@@mif_sovremennosty the one in the wall is the 4th frog
@@mif_sovremennostywell, the frog in the wall is tiny, the froggit probably didn't notice it
33:41 That voiceline is actually from an old McDonald's commercial, McDonald's voice is just edited to have a much higher pitch.
19:41
There is actually 4 frogs including the ant sized one
If u play the game and dont skip any text u will see the 4th frog
i know this video is kinda old and i dunno if anyones pointed out, but toriel baking a snail pie in hard mode wasnt an accident, in the call where she would normally tell you about how she hasnt cleaned up and about saving room in your pockets, she calls and asks if you like anything other than butterscotch or cinnamon. and if later you talk to the the froggit near where you find the toy knife, he will tell you that instead of toriel coming back carrying groceries, she was empty handed and looked disappointed, implying she could not find the ingredients. she wanted to bake us a nice butterscotch cinnamon pie but had to resort to snails instead
I knew I wasn’t just imagining a yellow thing disappear behind me.
I wanna see that!
Fun things you could do when you've played it many times like I have
8:34 speed fail
19:15 fun little flavor text dummy stuff
12:08 waiting. I have my game open doing this one rn, will take a half hour I think
15:33 flowey
18:12 only last rock
19:18 four frogs (2 in the crack on switch)
19:57 no more yellow! And pink
21:36 water sausage
24:30 toriel boss fight
25:35 backtrack
27:19 flowey
30:55 betray kill
A lot of loading and killing and stuff
34:29 hard mode, in the switch version you unlock an awesome border, but don't reset or you'll loose it.
It's been a while since I've commented, but I just wanna say I really like your easter egg and non gaming content, really excited for this channel!
same
Same here lol😝
So there's this weird Steven Universe name Easter egg in the beginning. If you name your character Soup (A reference to a Steven universe character that looks like frisk) and restart the game, there will be a bit of extra dialogue at the beginning story thing.
Oh my god I can't believe I missed these videos. I'm so glad you've done more undertale -- your undertale secrets/theories/etc videos are the best ones on youtube.
Glad you like them!
So far it's still just the one. I really should get to work the follow up!! I have it written out and planned, I just need to record the footage!
"Someone has to take care of these flowers" That's exactly what asriel says at the end of the pacifist route!
I appreciate all the alternative convos, as I thought I knew most of them, but there was a few new ones.
I actually thought I did too, but came across ones I didn't even know. These games are absolutely crazy that way!
@@2leftthumbs So true! Just shows the passion of the creator and Thx for expanding my world.
the effort that toby fox put in to emphasize that we, the player, as just like flowey always astounds me. this game is so complex and clearly took a real understanding of How people play games and strive to find the outcomes of all possible combinations of choices to reflect that directly with flowey, who killed and spared just to know what would happen, and its so very impressive to me.
I'm so happy you're revisiting Undertale! I love this content, it's really useful for people like me who don't have the opportunity or skill to replay the game a ton of times
Playing this one segment of the game for this video was about 4 hours of footage.
Really worries me about covering the rest of the game 0_o
19:40 no actually there are 4 frogs, but you can't see the 1st frog if you skip even a single dialogue and if u don't skip he will tell u about how to skip dialogue and how his friends skipped his talk but you listened
Floweys theme is “F is for friends” from spongeyBoi
*THE MORE YOU KNOW*
Spongeboii
It is 'your best friend'
Are you sure? It doesn’t sound the same
At the end of the Ruins, it's like a miniature Sans Judgement.
Stolen Soul? I've never seen that bit before. Deltarune and Undertale have more in common than I thought.
Referring to the fact that flowey thinks your chara in a new form like him
Dude!!! Your voice acting is so good! I could really feel the emotions of the characters you were voicing!
Something you missed: if you do the pacifist route and get the knife, its says you found a toy knife, but if you go full genocide and find that knife, you get a new piece if dialogue. (No spoilers)
19:43 There are actually four frogs in that room, it's just that the fourth doesn't show up if you skip text.
Undertale: How many Easter eggs do you want?
Toby Fox: Underyes
Unde ryes?
I always thought Toriel having coloured eyes in battle was just my eyes playing tricks on me. Kind of reassuring to have someone else confirm it! I still headcanon her having red-ish-brown eyes tho
its astonishing, im still learning new things about my most favorite game ever. undertale is truly the gift that keeps on giving
Note: at the beginning when she gives you the cell phone she says it’s dangerous to go by yourself and basically says take this. This is obviously a reference to the legend of Zelda “It’s dangerous to go alone, take this” am I the only one who realized this?
I have to say its been a long time since I've seen undertale content and I have to say I miss every last second of it it's glad to be back
"when you turn the lights off it gets a bit more nighttime-ey.
"When the music box cover kicks in, shits about to get real"
Slmccl I think.
You are so good at narrating flowey with laughing in-between dialogue
At 6:50 the song is not getting “distorted” it is simply going down one note and getting a little slower.
Thumbnail:𝗴aster eggs
𝗠𝗲:𝗴𝗲𝗴𝗴𝘀
*why i always see that text*
Actually, when Flowey says "That's a wonderful idea!", it's a sped up diolouge from a 1960s McDonald's commercial of Ronald McDonald saying the exact same thing.
Fun fact: Flowey's voice line is actually from Ronald McDonalds' voice line from an old McDonalds commercial, but it is distorted and the pitch is hightened.
Oof
That laugh is also from The show Larva
I just realized when I played Undertale again flowery says run into the bullets and then he looks at it and then change it in two friendliness pallets
23:45
I may be wrong, but I think in Undertale, the chair she's sitting in is just her reading chair.
Ya the chariel is by her desk in here room
Fun fact: if you edit your name in the game's files to names that you can't use (like gaster, sans, etc) you can get away with it. Also naming yourself "frisk" does not trigger hardmode.
So Toriel's eyes ARE red. I thought my eyes were just tricking me until I watched this video
11:00 you mentioned that torial has red eyes, I believe it's an oversight. Also I love how even the puzzles which are scripted to be done with her have solutions. And something barely anyone ever talks about and I'm glad that you brought it up.
If this new channel doesn't gain good traction, then it will be completely *_Ruined_*
This is why we can't have nice things: it turns to RUBBLE!
You again--
If you restart the game at certain point, Flowey's dialogue will be different at the start.
When Toriel says she has to watch over the flowers, Asriel in that room says the exact same thing
Imagine just wanting to annoy a flower on your first playthrough and getting lore heavy dialogue.
Also: If we get a voiced Undertale thing, this guy need to play flowey.
Two left thumbs: more like "Followey!"
I feel like I'm the only one that laughed at that joke.
I sorta laughed but it was more of a snort when you laugh
6:18
F is for Friends who do stuff together, U is for You And Me!
Omg loox eyewalker
I didn’t know that one
Lmao i saw that on a meme and i was mind blown that i didn't get the abvious reference
I know this is an old vid but I love how genuine your laughs sound when you're saying what Flowey says, it's fun
At 28:05 Frisks shirt is blue with blue
When I Went to the beginning of the map in the true pacifist run, there was asriel standing in the exact same position and first text line as toriel 26:40 , it's cool to see such small easter eggs in the game.
I love these kinds of videos, so I hope this new channel goes well for you!
I'm about 2 years late but I just noticed that at 24:03 Toriel's sprite's mouth moves way faster when she says "I have to go do something. Stay here."
I am fricking DIEING. I did NOT know that hardmode was that hilarious! I knew that it had a few jokes, but that? Oml I love you Toby Fox.
I had never really bothered with it prior to putting this video together. It really is fantastic!!
19:48
There are fourth frogs in this room, but the last one disappears than you skip dialogues. If you didn’t do that before it will be there.
(Sorry for my bad English, I’m Russian)
I love the second channel idea! this video is also very cool, I think undertale is never done. and the editing is very good!
There's also an instance of flowey watching you from behind a tree in the room where you can push around a snowball
