- A series working to document and explain every plausible secrets, theory, and scrap of evidence about W.D. Gaster in Undertale and Deltarune.
The Scrabdackle Steam page is live now! ► store.steampow...
I have detailed videos on Easter eggs, references and secerets in this series, plus a few other Undertale + Deltarune videos, including the one on Sans. Check them out there ► • Undertale + Deltarune ...
The life and history of Doctor WD Gaster is one of the most intriguing parts of Toby Fox's games Deltarune and Undertale! In both games, there are deeply buried references and secrets that have given us many pieces of this puzzle. We do not have the full picture yet. But I hope that by putting everything in one video like this, it will get the gears turning for people to craft their own awesome Gaster theories!
Here's hoping this can be the one-stop resource for anyone who wants Gaster Explained thoroughly. From the Gaster Leitmotif to all other Gaster facts and evidence, this video took a LOT of work to put together. Much more than I expected! Digging up every scrap of Gaster findings, secrets, easter eggs and all that that people have been finding for years was a big undertaking. I hope it lives up to the precedent I set with the old Gaster Egg videos!

I have my fingers crossed that this video will find a new audience, and new life on this channel.
It physically hurts me to reset this video to 0 views, but that is balanced by my excitement to share it with you all!
I hope you enjoy this updated content - and don't forget to give Scrabdackle a look if that at all appeal to you ► scrabdackle.com/
Your two left thumbs crossed? If not, I’m disappointed.
It's simply "Unlisted"
Anyone with the link can still see it, so none of those views and comments are technically lost.
If both videos remained fully public it would be incredibly difficult for people to find this new version, and UA-cam would be far more likely to continue promoting that original version (since youtube typically favours older videos)
@@2leftthumbs Then I wish the best luck to you. I’ve got my Two Thumbs (sadly not both left) crossed for you. GOOD LUCK 👍
Well the larger issue is that people were still discovering the old video and subscribing to the Let's play channel - thinking that they would be getting more content like this. I want to make that as easy as I can for newcomers, and ensure they are receiving the content they are subscribing for :)
I actually haven't seen the original, but I've watched lots of Undertale Game Theory videos to know what this is and enjoy it. Thank you for the video!
I can imagine Toby Fox seeing those theories and saying:

That’s certainly something to chew on
This game has been out for 5 years and we still have no clue what the hell is going on sometimes.
You speak the truest of truths.
WHO ARE YOU, WHO ARE SO WISE IN THE WAYS OF SCIENCE ?
and thats why i look up to toby.
he knows how to keep fans invested.
I know
I still don't get the monologues near the end of the genocide run. It seems like Chara (or whatever name you filled in at the beginning) somehow represents the player, but then it would make no sense for them to also be a pre-existing character in the game.
The dialogue makes it seem like it's somehow a metaphor for video game addiction, but if Toby Fox wanted to handle a serious theme like that, I feel like he's a decent enough writer to actually make it part of the plot, instead of just randomly throwing it in at the end. This isn't The Uncle Who Worked At Nintendo.
@@kevinm5940 If you're referring to Chara's monologue, I think it's not really a metaphor of game addiction but rather of grinding in any RPG. Grinding can be tedious and empty (just like the genocide run) but you carry on anyway just so you can see your STATs increase, so you can become powerful. That's why in the end Chara identifies with the feeling you get when STATs increase and considers power their new purpose. You aren't "addicted" to videogames in general, but rather to power, to the EXP and LV. This isn't an aspect that gets randomly thrown in here, but it is talked about even in other parts of the game (for instance during Sans's judgment at the end of a neutral run when he explains that the more LV you have, the easier it is to kill more), and even affects your character and the game narration (a.k.a. Chara if you believe in the NarraChara theory) depending on your LV and how many you killed, even if you're in a neutral run and not in genocide.
Gaster could probably be considered the world's greatest easter egg of all time considering that we've barely scratched the surface with him and his story
Im not surprised at this point
Your here your there, im not shocked
Man, it's great to see you again.
Whenever I see Undertale content or so, it always feels comforting seeing you, as you now part of the pillars in the Undertale fandom.
"we've barely scratched the surface with him and his story"
after 8 fricking years of this mystery existing.
what.
nah, the keeper from the binding of isaac is also a pretty big easter egg. people had to call phone numbers, find coordinates, dig with shovels, access Twitter accounts, etc.
I dunno, people have been hunting down the meaning of the wall signs in Halo 3 ODST for about a decade, that’s a pretty crazy Easter egg too
"What do you two think"
"Beware of the man who speaks in hands"
I think Gaster was actually talking to his hands
lololololol
They're pretty handy assistants.
give him a holy hand (or two)
this is the best theory, hands down
HAHAHA
I think Gaster being 'scattered across time and space' just means Gaster's consciousness was spread across the universe. He became onmipresent, which is why he could hear you talking with the Follower. I don't think he was literally broken into pieces.
I know this probably doesnt matter, and im gonna be yelled at for grammar police or whatever, but its omnipr-

Also, interesting tidbit about Deltarune's egg that people found a while back, if you type out "EGG" in all-caps Wingdings, you get a set of three hands, one pointing to the left, and the other two pointing up. Translate that to movements on a chess board, and you get the movement pattern of a Knight, which connects Gaster to this mysterious "Knight" character mentioned by the Spade King.
Yup! I think that's a super cool tie in as well. I have that included in Volume 2 already ;)
This is really cool. Good job on finding this
This is probably extremely far-fetched, but I have a feeling that one of two things will happen: Either it will be revealed that the Knight is a part of Gaster, or that Knight IS Gaster. Again, far-fetched with absolutely no evidence to it, but I think it would make some sense. Both of them are mysterious characters that are only hinted at vaguely.
Or the person behind the tree is danny devito, meaning toby made a meme reference of the "Can I offer you an egg in these trying times" meme.

I'd love to see more UT/DR theory content from you in the future. It's tough. It means I certainly cannot turn around weekly theories, since it usually requires pulling and filtering information from so many separate sources. But I am glad that when they are complete and ready to share people seem to appreciate them :)
@@2leftthumbs No problem!
By the way, are you familiar with The Complete Undertale Text Project? It's a community-made drive of screenshots cataloguing every piece of dialogue and flavor text in Undertale. It's been super helpful for me and may cut down on the time it would take to research or gather supporting evidence/footage from the game.
It should be the first result on Google (as a Tumblr post). I'd link it but I'm not sure if UA-cam's comment system likes people posting links.

This style of theory video is infinitely better than the majority of them because the separation between evidence and theory is very clear, it’s a lot better than what’s seen on big channels like Game Theory. Personally I think Muffet was referencing Flowey, since he *can* change his face, smiles a LOT, and has transformed into Photoshop/Omega Flowey and Asriel (even if it’s only temporarily)
Plus, you can find Flowey following you throughout Undertale, so I think he was the one that was mentioned in the bush scene. Idk for sure though!
definitely not impossible, but i think it's unlikely. flowey wants to get his hands on the souls, but he needs frisk to distract asgore. also during the genocide route iirc muffet was also warned about frisk, which again wouldn't make sense for flowey to do considering his only interactions with them during the genocide run until the final area are all "let's kill everything lol xd". not to mention flowey seems to be a lot more of a threat than muffet, i think if he wanted frisk dead he'd do it himself.
just seems kind of against flowey's plan to get frisk killed all of a sudden in hotland when in just a little bit he'd have his only shot at getting the souls because of them. most likely the changing shape and smile line was referring to mettaton or gaster.
explain why flowey would hire muffet while he knows that it's useless thanks to your ability to save and reload
Yes, but he cant change form without the souls, which at that point in the story he did not have.
Also part of entry 17 is muffets laugh distorted, slowed down, and that sort of thing. It would be more logical that gaster warned muffet, but it isnt impossible that flowey could of done.
@@goldenchairgrenade3279 he also changes shape without the souls, when he makes that weird face with the teeth and laughs
roseclaw, that is a good point, however flowey can only change his face. Muffet saw the person "changing shape", so the logical thing to think, in my mind, would be either mettaton or gaster. Also, flowey wouldnt try to hire sombody to kill you, it would be really out of character. He would probably kill you himself.
Plot twist: Gaster is just used for testing stuff and Toby is laughing at every Gaster theory
He exists to be theory bait
Gaster = Aster G = Easter Egg
I always thought that the "The one behind you, with the creepy smile." was about flowey
"You never gained LOVE but you gained love" - sans.
Interesting that the egg is a reference to the what pumpkin gag from Homestuck, considering that the whole gag was pumpkins disappearing and reappearing. Even more interesting is that it was revealed later in Homestuck's story that the pumpkins were being moved through time and space across multiple timelines. Quite a interesting reference considering what happened to Gaster.
Toby himself didn't necessarily have to preserve these webpage's, sometimes the internet is just swept and data is gathered about as many websites as the program can find.
By the time Chapter 2 is coming, the first place I go to the shelter/the big red door.
If we even get a choice to do that.
today is your lucky day my friend
weird stuff
"GONER" might be a reference to acronyms like "LOVE" in the first game, seeing as how frequently it's used. The "Deltarune" sound that plays at the end of Chapter 1 might also be the sound/name of Gaster's computer/device booting up for the next "experiment" (i.e., Chapter 2).
God I hope we see Gaster soon, and that Mystery Man is confirmed to be him. MM's design is so ingrained into Gaster at this point that it might as well just be him, even if Toby initially had another idea for his design.
(Plus I really want actual Gaster/Mystery Man merch)
"Photon reading negative"
Photons are light particles, creating a dark fountain, as shown in chapter two of deltarune, causes the surrounding area to be temporarily devoid of all light until the fountain lights up, and even then it is pretty dark. This makes me think that Gaster may have made the original dark fountain and tried to close it, but he wasn't strong enough and was shattered into a whole load of pieces.
I was wondering why all those gaster fan games choosing that theme even tho i never heard it in the game. So that's its origin
You know what I find interesting? The garden shelter looks very familiar to that hill in Irish folklore where the Irish folklore creatures were forced inside of after they lost a war between them n humans. That hill could be the hill where the monsters used to be forced inside of, and the door used to hide the barrier to both realms
I was just rewatching your videos earlier today & wondering why they were unlisted lol, glad you aren't getting rid of them.
About the man behind the tree: people on reddit have pointed out that the room before it with the starwalker might be a reference to Wingdings. As they put it "the bird has wings, the bell makes dings" - kind of obscure, but it actually makes that room a little less inexplicable maybe?
Also, while I'm entirely not sure how I feel about kind of randomly dropping the G from his name to speculate about Gaster, if we do go with that I want to point out how not only is text box narration and dialogue always presented with an asterisk, but also the save points being depicted as stars and as far as we know only appearing in the Underground and Dark World respectively where Gaster's influence is arguably seen most strongly miiight link them to him somehow? I've seen nobody else point this out so I'm really not confident lol
Hope I'm not telling you old news or something, sorry if I am! :v
The Wing Ding connection is SUPER funny! I hadn't heard that one before xD
This really makes me think of Spamton’s dialogue about heaven and angels… there’s no way he’s not connected to Gaster especially with the notion about the dead noise coming from his phone being the same noise that Kris hears in their phone which is the Gaster noise.
The man who talks in hands? Wasnt a piece of gaster in that follower’s hand?
I honestly am not sure I've seen that interpretation of it before. Very cool concept!

the only thing that sucks is that since deltarune's only a demo rn having to wait for the full game to have anymore new information is so painful,,, but i guess it's worth the wait considering deltarune is looking to be even better than undertale so far
The size of Deltarune is a little daunting.
I have a list of Undertale related videos I want to get out in 2021. I really want to get several of them out there before the full Deltarune, because I think it's inclusion might only serve to confuse some of the research I've done. Including 1 game and a demo is a lot simpler than 2 full, massive games...
I also want to try and get a few odd theories out there in the hopes that at least one of them is proven right :)
The black wind also plays in deltarune when you meet the king
"At least one person will pause the video thinking these are legit theories."
*I feel personally attacked*
This is all connected to Homestuck as well, after all, Toby Fox did live in Andrew Hussie's basement for a while
deltarune is an What If: monsters won the war instead or, never happen
toby is on a whole other level. full years before deltarune was released, he put secrets onto the website and archived them onto the Wayback machine, because he knew people would look for it.
the person behind you with a smile i always assumed to be flowey, since they can be caught behind you and fleeing afterward
I've also found that a theory that seems just as plausible for the goner kid's identity. It's that he's the monster kid from an alternate timeline in which he did actually fall and die. There's a seemingly blatant nod to this when monster kid says, "Yo. I thought I was a goner, haha..."
It is more reasonable to say that the "mystery man" is more of a follower than the actual gaster. It is more reasonable to say that the man in the removed horse stable or as you called him the "other sprite" is more likely gaster. he speaks in windings, something only he does. and the head that one of his followers hold fits into his sprite. maybe there are more pieces that will fit on him later. maybe not. I just don't believe that the mystery man is gaster though.
This is amazing and agonizing to watch. I feel as if we are always so close to a brand new big breakthrough, just one step away from uncovering more info. Seeing Gaster post on twitter made me feel like someone had injected me with mysterious substances. All we can do is wait. All we can do is dig. Dig deeper, yet deeper, until this darkness swallows us whole.
Or until Toby releases the rest of Deltarune.
The knight. The scientist. Him.
EGG
27:52 Did Gaster just jump?
Here’s my theory for Gaster:
W.D. Gaster was the scientist who worked on the core. He also made the Determination Extractor. He injected determination into himself, before falling into the core to test if determination would give allow him to have immortality. But as we know through the amalgamates, determination cannot be held by monsters, hence Gaster’s melting/cracking appearance. Gaster got reborn after the fall into the core, but the core’s energy and the determination caused him to fall apart into different timelines. He tried to test this experiment again with monster kid, the man who bought the donut , clam girl, sock puppet guy and hotland boy, each from different timelines. Every time you see one of them, it’s actually then just shifting timelines. He soon figured out how to change the reality of the timelines and made Sans and Papyrus. Sans was given Gaster’s powers of timeline manipulation and was sent on a mission to make a machine to bring Gaster back to his original form. Sans built it secretly behind the house, keeping a photo of Gaster and his followers to help him remember his purpose if the timelines changed due to the player resetting and caused them to not exist in that timeline. After gifting his powers to sans, Gaster later dormant in a room which he made. Thai is the grey room. When he sees the player coming towards him, he freaks out as all the timelines never had any other monster enter the room, causing him to shift timelines and fade away.
10:03
Doesn't that spectrogram look like the machine of determination we find in the True Lab?
Plus, the skeleton in the middle does look a bit similar to Sans.
I have no clue what to think of this but it is very interesting
Now that Spamton’s here, that whole thing with phones not working feels a lot deeper.
Pull the strings and make them ring.
I know its probably more related to chrono trigger, like you said, But Cave Story (a game which toby took inspiration from in the creation of undertale, as well as stating he loves in general) has the line "You feel a black wind blow
through you." before the sacred grounds. this drops all your weapons to level 1, right before the final and hardet level.
Fun idea ive had for years, Riverperson mentioning "the man who speaks in hands" Could be seen as them not just speaking in windings, but aldo being a mute, speaking with sign language
Relative to his presence in the game itself, I think Gaster has THE most fan-made content featuring him out of any character in a piece of media.
20:17 "pulling the strings of this game world"
BIG SHOT INTENSIFIES
It's my belief that the hooded boat drivers warning "Beware of the man who who speaks in hands" in Undertale, is not a reference to Dr. Gaster and Wingdings, but rather the player of the game, who is using their hands to literally input commands through the keyboard / controller, directly into the games characters 'Kara / Chara / Frisk'. Dr. Gaster would technically be a 'monster', and thus, the warning of the man is really a warning to the character of the human player... This is re-iterated in the wayback snapshot of the Survey Program, which specifically uses the phrase "Then, take it in your hands", your hands... the human players hands. And further reinforced by the hooded boat drivers other statement "Beware of the man who came from the other world".
Holy shit.
I find it even more interesting that in chapter 2, if you go to that red door with Susie following you she talks about how the door makes Kris anxious and how they really don't want to be there.
I swear no one's noticed that you can hear the smile sound effect very faintly at the create your character part of Deltarune. It may just be me.
I had not noticed! I'll have to keep a close ear out for that
@@2leftthumbs It's very hard to hear, and i've only heard it in one playthrough, so it might just be my ears acting up.
@@2leftthumbs Coming back to this, it SOUNDS like the smile, but it isn't excactly like the smile sound effect. It may just be a coincidence.
When gaster asks "what do you two think?" one of those two could possibly be the player, as deltarune's made it quite clear that the player and Kris the protagonist are two very different entities and why/how we're using Kris as a glorified meat puppet has yet to be explained
I'd say the prophecy has to be related to the ending when they all go to the surface. The underground isn't really empty in the Genocide route if I recall. Doesn't Alphys take some of the monsters and go into hiding in the true lab. Muffet and burgerpants being two notable ones.
Just want to point this out, I read a deltarune comic called "paper trail" and as a more casual fan of the series there was a lot that flew over my head. After watching your videos, especially this one, I have noticed just how much time and work the author put into all the little details in their comic. I recommend anyone who hasn't to go read it as it has not only made me look at both Undertale and deltarune differently I am also looking up videos like this now. The artist/author is LynxGriffon and nobody asked me to do this, I just needed to get this off my chest. The ending makes me feel that it would be super fitting and poetic if the author didn't make a sequel so maybe if I can get enough people asking about it we may get more. It's that good.
Ok, first id just like to say thanks for revamping this video, it really reminded me of one of the core reasons i fell in love with undertale- all the secrets and mysteries that we can only guess about, and all those hidden clues to something larger.
Id also like to give my thoughts on mystery man, and the other weird sprite that may or may not be gaster.
I dont have a solid belief on anything in regards to mystery man, as his very nature is shrouded in darkness(hehe). While a lot of things point towards him being gaster, we dont have any solid proof, as well as too much information on him. Its possible mystery man is a piece of gaster; maybe one of the larger chunks of him that was split across time and space? Who knows. As for the strange sprite in the room that leads to the sound test room, it seems in my opinion to be closer to gaster. It gets brighter as you move towards it, which is a mechanic used in Deltarune but in reverse, where you have to get closer to the center of the room to see the hidden switch on the tree. not to mention, the room this appears in is one of the two spaces connected to the room with the man who gives you an egg. it gets even deeper, with the song playing in this room, scarlet forest, having a gasters theme leitmotif. it goes pretty deep. as well as this, the sprite may have been made by toby himself. I dont own the art book so im not 100% sure, but toby's art/spritework is pretty messy and rough from what i've seen. it wouldnt be impossible for him to try and draw out a design for gaster by himself, but then decide it wasnt good enough and place it in a room by itself. As well as this, when you exit the room with the mystery sprite, you are able to hear gasters theme for the only time in the game, even with hacking and all that jazz.
This got way longer than i intended it to be, but there was a lot of stuff connecting the mystery sprite with deltarune and gaster once i looked into it. anyway, hope u liked my semi-theory thingo
I love how you have noticed all of these details and secrets in the game! It's amazing that you have and it's amazing that you've caught onto these things! Keep up the good work!
You should have combined the two videos on gaster into one when moving them to this channel.
I actually attempted to do so!
Even slicing some of it up, and re-recording other parts - they just didn't mesh well together. I was stressing over it, and decided to keep the two videos separate. Although I did incorporate a few small parts of it still.
The "volume 2" video is getting even more heavily revised with a bunch of cool new evidence! Having one "full" video would be ideal, but I grew less married to that idea over time as more and more evidence comes to like, and with things inevitably being expanded upon with the full Deltarune.
@@2leftthumbs Happy to hear that vol 2 is gonna be more revised.

"The other use of Wingding's fonts is with this hidden figure"
I'd like to mention that the hidden figure speaks in *all lowercase with an asterisk* while Entry 17 uses *all uppercase without an asterisk.*
Idk why but w d gaster scares me a lot for some reason, just the glitchy music is so unsettling
hes just so unsettling to me and the mystery surrounding him is so cool and creepy. genuinely is my favorite character :)
I definitely think that the picture in Sans' lab is of the heroes from Deltarune, rather than Gaster. The "don't forget" connection to Deltarune's main leitmotif makes that seem undeniable to me
We need more Deltarune theories, how sans connect this game was best DR theory, total masterpice. Now that video about Chara.
Is there a relatively new video on Chara that you're referring to?
@@2leftthumbsOn start of Sans is Sans video, you show us pool what video you should oo next, including some video about Chara.
@@mouse8110 oohh yes! I see what you mean haha. Yes I am still hopeful to do that video as well :)
@@2leftthumbs
And dont forget to snowdin easter eggs (and other undertale locations ester eggs) and smaller DR theories from that pool.
I was with my friend while translating entry 17, so the “what do you two think” part really scared me
Just saw this going up and I'm adding my view to it even though I already binged the old ones!
One thing: Is there any indicator when something of the old video is being revised/expanded upon? That would certainly come in handy to those of us who saw your original videos, and even more so after reading that the second part is getting some big additions. A simple mark on the corner, or an acknowledgement in the video, would go a long way.
Either way, keeo up the great content!
Edit: Okay, it is pretty obvious when there is new or revised content. Great!
I tried to draw attention to some of the bigger expansions verbally.
I could try to highlight them more directly. But in a perfect world, these revised videos will eclipse the originals, causing no future need for them. I wouldn't want to "bog down" the video too much referencing the old videos that would be increasingly irrelevant. You know?
It’s probably been said already (either in this comments section or in the legacy version’s comments section) but the word “shelter” in the room name could also refer to a bomb shelter. If Gaster is in there, it might make for a nice bit of irony; a place meant to save people from a cataclysm may now hold a cataclysm within.
I saw this and thought "why is this old video recommended to me?" and I checked the upload date.

9:06 I cant be the only one that sees lancer's face here
I can just imagine Toby Fox going "HOW HAVE THEY NOT FIGURED THE SECRET OUT YET, IT IS SO OBVIOUS"
Didnt jevil meet "someone" before going crazy?
19:10 when the game asked "ARE WE CONNECTED?" the game then tried to connect to the internet and my firewall notified me
The Angel's Heaven is also mentioned in Deltarune as well, it's part of the prophecy that Ralsei tells.
My mind has just expanded x100000 and blown into a million pieces. How has this been my favorite game for the past 8 years and I’m still discovering things I’ve never seen before or never even thought could be possible????
The most shocking thing is that Gaster's name isn't even confirmed to be Gaster...
that's the most shocking thing to me
It is tho, the followers specifically reffer to him as "Dr Gaster"
In the in-game files for the enemy encounter 666 it's labelled as "Gaster"
And follower 2 reffers to him as "Dr W.D Gaster"
How exactly isn't it confirmed he's called Gaster?
We have no clue who they are referring to
Your videos is what game theorists videos always lacked for me - substance. Really enjoy them!
I'm really sceptical about the muffet connection, some have theories that the hidden person is actually flowery who we know can somewhat change shape as seen on the geno route, but I'm not sure
i love your research and this give me some theory you might be interested. im sorry im not used to english. Here's my theory : Gaster might be appear and teleported in deltarune universe just like his follower actually appear as a colored npc, but he still scientist and working in his last experiment supposedly the one in entry 17. he actually invited us (player) to test his experiment (where toby write a long post at the end of it is link to deltarune). (now this might be crazy) there might be gaster and his creation (might be teleporter to different timeline universe) inside the dark room where we search for chalk. he is waiting for us to test his last experiment a teleporter machine. then kris and suzie and gaster did teleported to dark universe (where we play as the three hero). notice this is the time where entry number 17 can actually be accessed naturally (calling gaster) without messing with game files, this is gaster talking to us and we can hear it clearly because we're in the same universe but suzie and kris didnt realize gaster presence. in the first few phrase it says "darker, yet darker..." and "photon reading negative" this might be reference to the darkness that grows each tick in that universe or might be the fountain that will spread the dark, btw dark fountain is actually the teleporter in that universe this is why we have to get to the fountain to go back home in the first place.(and that teleporter might be use black hole or wormhole(?) technology to travel thus why its emenates darkness). and finally there is phrase saying "what do you two think?" Gaster is asking opinion from kris and suzie that has been teleported to different universe. unfortunately kris and suzie are not realize about this experiment and testing plan and leave them clueless what is happening. but we (player) do understand this. this happen because the player has different conscious from kris (this explained by last scene where we can still control kris heart in the cage after kris wake up and rip it off while kris can move freely and grab a knife and smiling with red eyes). the player are the one invited to the experiment. And when finally they go back home, its actually teleported to the room next to it. (notice the game says the unused classroom not the storage room where we search for chalk) and gaster teleporter actually still inside the other room but its locked both entry from hallway and unused classroom.
ps. maybe gaster still stuck in either dark universe or stuck in his machine but still can communicate with different timeline in undertale and universes between undertale, deltarune, and toby fox twitter post this explain why we can only hear weak entry number 17 when in deltarune town and other gaster easter egg.
Thats it. thank you for everyone who read until the very end of my theory. pls correct me if im wrong and share your theory too.
Should note that "don't forget" contains the leitmotif (that people now call the "Freedom" leitmotif) that will probably be associated with the bonus bosses, seeing as it is already present in both Jevil's and Spamton NEO's themes. It is also present in several other pieces that don't seem to be connected as of yet.
so my theory in a few words : we where all hyped about gaster that Toby added "mystery man" that would refer to the comunity as "mystery is solved now"
I really like how you do theories on this, Nice!
I'm glad to hear it!
Hopefully there will be some other big ones coming in the not-too-distance future :)
You mention the black wind from Chrono Trigger yet don't make the connection about an Egg from outside time and space and the Time Egg that comes from The End of Time and is used to literally revive the protagonist Crono after a heroic sacrifice against Lavos. If the 0 save thing is real then Gaster experiment which shattered him is what shifted the Determination from Flowey to Frisk. He mentions that he used be able to SAVE and LOAD up until their arrival, after all, and in Deltarune, Kris also had a save before the player comes. This looks a common theme: by the end of Chapter 1, Kris rips off whatever SOUL was inside of them and acts more like Chara. Considering you can't kill anyone during the game and Kris is the human living with Asriel much like Chara did, I went on a tangent here, but please do take note about the Time Egg thing, it actually creates three different endings since Chrono Trigger has this mechanic, being a game which relies a lot in time travel.
I am at least one person who stopped the video, thinking the list was legit theories.
But also!! I’m glad you reuploaded this, I haven’t thought about undertale/deltarune in a hot second and it’s nice to refresh myself! It’s also nice to see your updates and tidbits to add to the video (and how you’ve changed in two years with your enthusiasm in speaking).
Haha yeah I re-recorded and added those bits with the natural cadence I now do this sort of video in.
It wasn't until I started folding it into the video that I realized how much that had actually changed... I suppose it only makes sense when the first version of this video was really the first major "theory" I had ever done. Still shocking how far that can come in 2 years!!
my first thought when I played deltarune the first time was that the red door was the entrance to the underground, where frisk fell in except the surrounding area has been made residential, so they flattened it out.
What if the Gaster followers are the shards of Gaster himself?
Wait that’s

INTERSTING
In the sound test room, memorize the Gaster’s Theme to understand this.
When you interact with Mystery Man, he plays a notable sound. If you loop it, reverse it, and slow it, it will sound like the Gaster’s Theme song.
I think the “friend with the creepy smile” is just chara. Because why would gaster want to be following us, while we already know chara is the narrator or Undertale?
