Bamboo 4rts same
Same haven’t played band since then it’s been 3 years
Played this earlier today as a 1st chair 8th grade bassoonist. God I miss honor band already and now that it had ended, it feels like a deep wave of depression had hit me. Ever since auditions, I was extremely excited for the event. I waited patiently everyday, anticipating the uprising fun. I waited so long, just for the event to be short. 3 days. Those days had gone by so quick and memories with different schools had been shared. I made friends along the way and truly learned what it felt like to play with such talented people. March to Castle Rock was my favorite piece out of all the music included. Especially during the “slow part”, where everyone plays at such an upbeat, but a nostalgic tune. I will never forget the things I did, and the effort I worked into those 6 hours of this piece. May seem over dramatic, but this song has changed me. I plan to dedicate my school years towards band.
im playing this as an alto in 7th grade
I played this a couple months ago as 8th grade 1st chair tuba. Absolutely loved this piece because low brass had melody for a bit as well as it being fun overall, though most honor band pieces had fun parts for low instruments. Regular band pieces just seem boring and dull compared to the ones we played at honor band. I cant wait for next year's honor band to come around so that I can play more and more fun pieces like this. I remember my cracked lips start to bleed after playing so much and for so long during honor band. I also share your feelings about the excitement of honor band and the seemingly empty void that regular band just couldn't fill. Though those 3 days were long, they also felt short and I wish that those days could have lasted longer.
I remember playing this in 8th grade, sounds so awesome!
🎼

My favorite song out of all the honor bands I’ve been to so far. Such a ride of emotions for me in a two minute song
Playing this as a high schooler in a collaboration with my district's middle school banad, and this is way too fun for zero reason at all. No piece should be this fun and simultaneously this simple.
Being a 7th grade honor band 1st chair trumpet I really love this outstanding piece even though it is perty ease to learn
Yea, you guys have it easy. Having the melody the entire song with just eight rest is incredibly fun.

Every year we use this as the recessional at high school commencement. I play the oboe part on mallets, this is my last year I’ll play it and it’s kinda saddening but at least I don’t have to do Pomp and Circumstance any more.

Our 8th grade band is playing this, but their trombone player can’t play it because he just started. I’ll be covering it now in 7th grade, but man this piece just smacks. I know the festival we’re doing it for will be one to remember for sure!
