I helped my mom landscape the yard this way, except I pulled the bush then came back with a shovel and dug under the roots and my mom would be lifting the root ball with the shovel while I pulled it out with my truck...its all you can do when you don't have a guy around to help you. This is brilliant, work smarter not harder.
You have to place a large diameter object between the strap and the ground right up on the base of the bush. This will pull the bush up and out when you drive away in the truck.
be careful using chain if it breaks the metal becomes a deadly projectile. My friend was killed from this. He was in the military and trying to tow heavy equipment out of mud. The chain was as thick as my fist, but it broke, and a piece hit him in the neck. Pretty much took off his head. Using a small chain like this on a bush isn't as dangerous, but you don't want your kids sitting near by.
Great video, helped a lot. I was wondering, do you know (or anyone else) know a safe and/or easy way to remove a multiflora rose bush? Or can the same techniques used in this video be done to a multiflora rose bush?
well, that was entertaining that is fir sure, when pulling a shrub if you wrap the strap 2-3 times at the base it wont slide off so easy, also if you put a towel or floor mat in the middle of the Chain/ strap, it will not fly up and do damage to the car if it brakes but should go under it.. just some tips.. I do like the idea of the craine, I will have to try that, never done it that way before.
My bushes are not easy to get to. trunks as big as small trees. In my back yard that's not very accessible to machinery. The 2" limbs have gone thru and way over the wire fencing = 2 problems. Getting them from the back to the front loader is going to be very difficult. Any suggestions? I should make a video!
The truck... i've seen people break their back window doing that when the chain or cable snapped back. Wish I didn't give away my engine lift, that's actually not a bad idea, especially when you have a bunch to pull.
If you’re going to pull a stump (or anything particularly heavy) with a truck, use a chain! If a chain breaks it’ll fall to the ground, not fly through your back window like a strap of cable. I knew a guy that got killed by a cable flying through his trick window trying to pull a stump.
I know of a guy who tried the chain trick on a tree stump, it broke the ball off of the hitch which flew off and hit his son in the head and killed him. Make sure you attach the chain to the frame. Sad story.
I saw a guy do that with the engine puller on a little tree next to his house. He wrapped the chain around the bottom and started pulling it up, next thing I knew the whole side of his house was gone. He wrapped the chain around the gas pipe and the tree base. LOL
yeah nice, but at the stump that I ripped with it I would much hazel and the car could do neither. Walnut stump 55 inches in diameter. Excavators dug it but although it was the end, I finally broke him self with recovery tank VT-55. Pulling power winch to 100 tons, so it was not a problem. VT.55: V12 engine, 40 liters, 580 hp, weight 42 tons. Diesel consumption: 250-1150 l / 100km. Pulling force main winch 100 t max over 2 pulleys. Rope diameter of 1.5 inches
Good video for people to watch what they should not do. 1. Tie the stump around 3 time for better grip. 2. Pulling from front truck are stronger because of weight ratio. 3. Pulling a bush right by front house can be risk of pulling out water sprinkle pipe or electric wire. Check it first. I pulled a pine tree stump out with truck like your by using the front. There a hook on some front bumper.
Hes that guy on your street...every street has one. Method three however is good, not necessarily an engine hoist but Fulcrum pulling has been done forever.
My husband and I tried it. This is a BS do it with a holly Bush of almost 40 years. We ended up with a broken window and a massive dent in our truck tailgate. You shouldn't be allowed to show that video

this is a great video on all the ways not to remove a bush lol
I know I am kinda randomly asking but do anyone know of a good website to watch new tv shows online?
@Melvin Reuben lately I have been using Flixzone. You can find it by googling :)

Yeah this was painful to watch..hell I even keep the dog in the house or truck w me. People have no idea how fast shit can go south
My grandfather used dynamiter. Of course, you could get dynamite at your local hardware store in his day. Awesome vid.
The engine lift method was the best. It really removed all the roots.

3:36 Wife : Oh, no hold on! Your chain came unhooked
this is funny as heck
he said fuck a farm jack just fuck it ill use my truck lol
Looks like my Bobcat should pull this off, was wondering about the root ball.
Should have trimmed some of the bottom twigs and then used a spading fork to loosen up the roots by digging the fork around the shrub.
The best way is to wind the chain as tight as you can around the base, go slow to lock the links together, then pull.
Lol. I love how you drive the shrub down the street. Lol
Lesson learned from this video...YOU CAN`T FIX STUPID!!!!!!!!
seems like fat guys crocs and dumb go good together
Texan Online hey you leave crocs out of this equation

was the top of your tailgate bent before you backed into it?

Now that's what I call 'extreme gardening'!
call a tow truck company and see if they do stump removal. its cheap, very fast, not to mention they can sit it down on a trailer to be hauled off.
What do you have for wheel and tire combo setup? if you dont mind
Cragar Soft 8 , 15x8 with 275/60R15 tires on back
@@oellrichm Thanks man, all around? they look sick!

I can't believe he backed into that bush with the tailgate down and wrecked it like that. What was he thinking or I guess why wasn't he thinking?
Dave Brittain tailgate was bent long before this video , so wasn't really gonna hurt it any more
Fun until you pull a tree with roots grown around a water line, gas line

Ctcc73 hahaha omg!
Why on earth would you destroy a beautiful boxwood instead of trimming it??
Dodge dakota V8?
that's a nice green shrub why get rid of it? just trim it.
will this ruin your truck?
@smurfmobile8586 Our neighbor loved watching and even gave up some ideas!

You guys are pro....wanna come and do my yard? I'll provide the beer.

@fatsachs yeah about 1/2 to 1 gal right at the base
Looked good where it was just needed trimming
Hes that guy on your street...every street has one. Method three however is good, not necessarily an engine hoist but Fulcrum pulling has been done forever.
I used my 4x4 to pull out a couple shrubs.....then I noticed the sprinkler system lines came up too.....
So many of these shrub removal videos show people remove healthy expensive shrubs only to replace them with something ordinary.
Engine hoist works every time.
that's a nice green shrub why get rid of it? just trim it.now look what u did to ur grass.
Personally I like the video where he uses a hydraulic lift. I will try it that way. May save the truck and the grass.
Why didn't you just leave it and prune it. It was a nice bush.
I did this with my quad.
Some people really will do anything to avoid a little manual labor. Message of this video? Don't hire a lard ass in clogs to do landscaping.
Was hoping this could show how-to from PAST experience, not CURRENT VIDEO experience.
Cameraman trying to die at 4:15
I meant R/T 5.9L ?
Bak in my day.... we used to think dynamite was a firecracker......
Funny as hell
At least you used an appropriate sized truck..
Note: Only use this method if you have a crappy truck and you don't care about driving all over your grass.
well we are in the south!
+Christine Chisholm Side note: People who look like they drive Hyundai's shouldn't make uneducated comments about vehicles.
Looks like he took it straight to the dump
Get a run at it.. a sure way to break something,, some people's kids..
59 people broke their back using a shovel
