This version of the show feels more adult. Especially that bed scene. Pretty daring. It feels like this production wanted to get back to the roots of the workshop when Wicked had swearing and more adult situations.
People treat this production like it’s some sort of amateur production but it’s created by Stage Entertainment, who did many official international productions of Wicked. It’s very much a legit production by a legit producer. They tried something new and I think that’s very admirable.
I love it when non-replica shows do something unique. Hamburg is one of my favorites, Elphaba's first flight, actual Ruby Slippers, the original Oz quartet (Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man, Lion) appearing onstage, new costumes, the new orchestrations! I love it!
I think the bubble didn‘t look very realistic with that big metal structure on it. I think that‘s why they changed it. Also it makes more sense in my opinion, when Glinda speaks to the people that she isn‘t flying around in the bubble.
@@Satanna.avemaria Thank you. It’s ok :) We couldn‘t know what the camera was recording because the screen wasn‘t turned on as it would have been to much of a risk.
Me: I wanna watch wicked Germans: we have wicked at home *wicked at home* No but seriously, this is disappointing coming from the same place that gave us Willemijn Verkaik and far superior versions of shows like Tarzan. The production design is a disgrace and canonically inconsistent. Someone was being creative for the sole purpose of being edgy
That´s the thing with changes. Some like it more, some like it less. Keep in mind that Wicked was lastly played in Germany in 2010 or so. So the changes didn´t seem so rapid then to someone who is used to the old version for many years. Here in Germany there are people who don´t like the new design, just as there are many who love it so much more. I think it´s really refreshing. Just the design chenged, the music is basically the same.
Canonically inconsistent? Have you SEEN Wicked? It's practically an AU in itself, failing to adapt the original Oz books, Wicked novels OR the movie adaptions faithfully. This production's honestly a breath of fresh air, I wish more shows were willing to experiment and go in new directions instead of remaining static for decades.
The sound of the bubble bursting and the effects that came after just sounds soooo good! had it on repeat!

IM IN LOVE WITH THIS PRODUCTION WOAHHHH
I love the reworked orchestration
I love this version. Suggesting on the top hat that the Father was wearing, Elphaba's parents were born at the dawn of the age?
i actually really love this stage design! im personally not a huge fan of the costumes however
I think even then amateur productions had Glinda on a flying bubble... Oh well.
Thank you for sharing!
It is not an amateur production :)
At least this one has a flying Elphaba, not a lifted one ;)

@@jowe7038 You mean the strings that everyone could see and looked like a high school production?
@@sebastiant244 I know. The amateur productions were better.
Do you have Wie Herrlich?
Yes, but the video isn‘t very good, so don‘t know if I will post it.
Can’t even see the bloody bubble 🙄
I know :(
But here you can see it better: instagram.com/p/ChPUvlhqdKy/
@@saskiaj.993 sorry for my reaction 😢 thank you so much for even posting most of the show. Sorry again and I wish this version would come to UK 💖🌸
