We speak with the co-chair of the Uncommitted National Movement, who briefly met with Vice President Kamala Harris this week as the Democratic presidential candidate is under pressure to define her platform on Palestine. Layla Elabed spoke with Harris before her rally in Michigan to press her on a ceasefire in Gaza and an arms embargo on Israel. "I was very emotional in that brief exchange. I did feel like her sympathy and empathy towards me was very genuine, but Palestinian children cannot eat words," says Elabed. "We need action."

VP Harris's interaction with the protesters took place over about a minute.
* First, as the crowd tried to drown them out, she said, "It's all good, all good".
* Then, as they kept going, she said, "Everyone's voice matters, but I am speaking now.". It is her rally, is that really rude?
* Finally, their chant, "Kamala, Kamala, you can't hide, we won't vote for genocide," got her response of "If you want Donald Trump to win, say that, otherwise, I'm speaking."

Sorry to tell you that Donald Trumps agenda is not Project 2025. He released his own agenda during the RNC convention. Its called Agenda 47. Actually Kamala has shown her concern about the war by not attending prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu meeting with Congress and she let it be known that although Israel has the rights to defend themselves, they have to be responsible about it too. Protesting is a practice to be heard. She heard you and agreed to meet. So further disturbance at her rally after she’s heard what you’ve had to say is just rude and disrespectful. Even if the protesters didn’t know at least acknowledge that anyone would be frustrated if they heard you, agreed to talk and then got interrupted during a critical rally.
pro-Palestinian groups should address the right branch of government: Congress makes the laws, and is the branch that changes diplomatic status between USA and Israel. Stop harassing the Democratic presidential nominee. The republican Congress members are the ones to blame.

What isn't addressed is that there are diplomatic endeavors on going. We don't know what is being discussed there. As much as I would love to see a weapons embargo to Isreal to stop the violence, we need to be aware of the arms being supplied to Hamas as well. Harris said she would meet with them. Disrupting her rallies does nothing to help their cause.

I voted uncommitted in the primary election in California, but I am planning to vote for Harris/Walz because in this election we can not have a narrow tunnel vision.
