I'll never forget, there was a knock on the door on XMAS Eve in the evening when I was about 7 years old, and I got presented with the Sherbet Collection album. I had no idea of what was happening, and then my Mum laughed, "Oh I entered you into that competition at the shopping centre and I never thought you would win!" Well I won in many ways, and I still love Sherbet, and this song was the first on the album.
I'm a 60 years old female from Bangladesh & I've been a Sherbet fan since my teens in the mid 70s. I first got introduced to Sherbet through the 'Countdown' of the music charts with Glenis Dixon from Melbourne, Australia.
My favourite Sherbet song, marginally ahead of Summer Love. Sherbet never got the musical credit they should have. They were seen as a glam/teenybopper band back then. Still sound great to me, in 2020.
God Garth! You are still soo beautiful after all these years! You made my teenager life bearable, thank you just for that! Even after all these years I still get a high from all your music 🎵! I will love you always and forever 💜💜💜💜💜💜
3MP played this earlier tonight, which was the first time I've heard it many years. I had the 7-inch vinyl single. :-) It was one of my favourite songs when i was a kid
I love Sherbet, but why am I one of the only Americans who knows about them!? Number one in Australia the most popular Aussie band of the 70s barely even released here. It's a shame and it makes no sense whatsoever. I love music from all over the world including here, but for a band with such a good sound influenced by some of our music don't know why Sherbet were a nonentity here. Too bad. Also really sad about Harvey James. He was a great musician.
@Desmond Welk Not 100% true. They took Howzat international. It was incredibly hard to crack the international market from Australia. Our bands had to move to the US, for any chance of recognition, and most weren't prepared to do that. That is until Little River Band.
Great to hear your comments. Back then, it was kind of rare for Aussie bands to make it in America. This came later with bands like INXS, AC/DC. Sherbet did try to crack it in the U.S. but the word was they were a bit too lightweight. They re-branded themselves in the late 70s and called themselves Highway, but still didn't make it. They did have a U.K. hit, Howzat. Daryl Braithwaite went on to have a solo career. This song, Rock me Gently, is my favourite Sherbet song.

summer love was much better
Well said. They wrote such great songs and could rock when they wanted to. Listen to their live version of Blueswalkin
Summer love was the best, I agree that they never got the proper recognition, Australia’s best rock boogie band.

They went to America back in the '70's, even changed their name to Highway to make them more "adult" rather than teeny bopper.
Just didn't work out.

They went by the name The Highway Men in America.
