What's funny is that in one episode of Legend of Korra, Toph says to Korra that if she were in her younger prime, she would destroy Korra in earth bending. Well, in this game, that can actually happen.
Besides not having a story mode and a lot of characters. I do really enjoy this game. I hope if Nickelodeon makes a sequel or does DLC to this I hope add more to it. Great Job 👏🏻 👍🏻 Shadow.
Did you know Garfield was originally was gonna be part of the roster? It was still missed opportunity to not have Lynn Loud and Ronnie Anne to be In the game (since we Lynn herself Is decomfirmed as the background stage) but to those who are still curious; here are some of my other to join either later on for for possible Improvement sequel and here's hoping Timmy, Jimmy, XJ9/Jenny: any of the Rugrats/All Grown Up Cast (Similar to Link and Young Link's gimmick), and whoever to appear later on; Hive And Miko Lola And Lana Luna Loud Bessie Vicky Crocker Vlad Plasmius Sam Manson Dudley Puppy Kitty Katswell Tak
What a time to be alive. It's a genuinely _decent_ if not great Super Smash Bros. clone with Nicktoons! Despite its relative lack of content, you can tell that a lot of love went into this game, unlike most licensed cash grabs. I actually really enjoy their choice of characters too, but as noted, it would be great to see Timmy, Jimmy and Rocko at some point in the future, as any Nicktoons game would feel incomplete without any representation of those great series. Even still, it's great to hear reports of this being a solid smasher that provides at least a few hours of dumb fun with a promising future!
Honestly, people are sleeping on sports mode, I had a hell of a time with that mode where you can pull off funny combos with the janky physics and its fun to beat each other up instead of focusing on the game, its great that it gives you the option to do either or both at the same time. Its honestly a mode that could've been utilized by Smash and I'm glad that there's something fun here that Smash doesn't offer. You haven't lived until you've seen Nigel snap a soccer ball into the stratosphere.
Haven't played the game yet, but I already admire how many characters they've put in it. I really hope we'll see more added to the roster like Rocko, Dag and Norb from "Angry Beavers," Jimmy Neutron, Jenny/XJ9 from "My Life as a Teenage Robot," Cosmo and/or Wanda from "Fairly Odd Parents," etc. Heck, I'd love it if Miko and Hi-Five from "Glitch Techs" were included, since that show's based around video games; but after hearing how Nick treated its production, I doubt that'll happen.
I know games really shouldn't be released in these sort of "unfinished" states, but considering it's a licensed game on a budget, I still think what the team behind All Star Brawl put out is really good! Hopefully this game can be improved through updates or even a sequel.
If you have an iPhone or iPad, there's a Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis game that's exclusive in the Apple Arcade games (Dunno why...) I've only seen the gameplay for CatDog, and I'm thoroughly impressed! They've made the game enjoyable in a way that All Stars Brawl kinda lacked! For one, the character models looked more decent and not to weird! Actually, the slight cel shaded effects gave me the Sly Cooper vibes in a way! Second, STORY MODE! Each of the characters you play as has their own story as to why they entered the tennis tournament. For example, CatDog entered the tournament to win a new tv. All Star Brawl definitely lacked the story telling in the game, and the writers never gave us fans a reason why the characters are in the game. And unlike All Stars Brawl, the NickToons game, like NickToons Racing, at LEAST gave us a story as to who and why the Mystery Racer invited the NickToons characters in the race, and we know why the characters in NickToons: Attack of the ToyBots were brought into a situation to stop the ToyBots. Even the Super Smash Bros series had stories as to what happened in each situation (Save for the WiiU and 3DS game. No story mode due to people spoiling the story and ending for other players.) At LEAST be creative and give us a story for All Star Brawl! Third, and THIS is VERY IMPORTANT; VOICE ACTING! I don't think we've ever had a decent voice over in the Nickelodeon games since NickToons Unite crossover series. And any future NickToon Games had voices that were reused sounds. Nickelodeon Extreme Tennis gave use fully voiced characters for the first time in years! While the veteran voice actors like Jim Cummings (Cat from CatDog), Tom Kenny (Dog from CatDog and SpongeBob) and even Carlos Alazraqui (Voice of Rocko from Rocko's Modern Life, but also the original Spyro from Spyro the Dragon for the PlayStation 1) made their return, the original voice actors for Mikey from the 80's TMNT and Arnold from Hey Arnold! never reprised their roles, but the voice actors who took over those roles were pretty spot on! And four, the addition of costumes for the characters! While some of the costumes are unrecognizable to me, I DO see some more recognizable costumes the characters have, some only appearing in the episode once, but used as a reference or Easter Egg. And I think that's clever! And with Patrick Star as a more recent addition to the game, I'm hopeful that more NickToons will be added to the roster as playable characters! Now if ONLY the creators at Nickelodeon will let the mobile game be played on ALL devices!
My hope is that at some point we can have the OG Nicktoons Unite quartet in here, maybe even their villain counterparts. Vlad would be an awesome boss-type character for this game.
This game has me convinced that maybe the Nickelodeon characters could work in a more traditional fighter as well. Nickelodeon vs. Capcom would be a good replacement for MvC should fans really sour on CvS being retooled to have MvC gameplay.
Great review. I was curious about this game but hearing it doesn't have a story mode is a huge turn off. It seems like a waste to have a crossover event but no meaningful interactions between the characters.
This game was considered disappointing by many fans, and the Warner Bros version seems like it'll be even worse from what I'm hearing so far. At least Fraymakers looks like it'll be better than both of those games given it's by the same people behind Super Smash Flash!
Just wanna say - I REALLY fucked with PTE. Was significantly more simple than Smash, and even Nick's All Star Brawl, but it was still fun. Kevin was my main. Also I agree, no story mode was a big let down. Been enjoying all these reviews lately!
Thanks! Yeah Punch Time Explosion was the OG of the PS3/360 era for me haha, I usually mained Buttercup and Aku. Glad to hear you've been liking them :D
@@ShadowStreak Too bad the game was an obvious beta. Also, did you realize how PTE's plot mirrored World of Light. Do you plan on reviewing NASB2 anytime soon?
Here would be my idea of the cast for PTE if it were remade today alongside newcomers: Kimberly Brooks as Blossom Jessica Dicicco as Buttercup Tara Strong as Bubbles Alex Cazares as Dexter Eric Bauza as Flapjack Phil Lamarr as Samurai Jack David Lodge as Aku David Kaye as HIM Sean Chiplock as Ben
For the most part, I still find this game a very impressive prototype. It's pretty basic on content and needs tweaks that I can't justify the $45 price of admission ($35 when I got it on sale from Nintendo eShop, which still felt a bit steep) for, but I can definitely commend the translation of the various art styles into 3D and the controls being pretty good. I'd definitely like to see some updates and well handled DLC to give the game more content.
so fun fact: reptar's fully charged down special does 30% and combo's into itself EDIT: Oh yeah there's already 2 DLC characters sitting in the code, the first of which is almost done. The first character is Garfield by the way
I do feel that the roster could also use more reps from the 2000s and 2010s to balance out how many 90s reps we've got already. My most wanted is Miko from Glitch Techs, because its beyond perfect. But I'd also actually really like to see Sanjay and Craig get in just to see people's reactions to it.
I genuinely have to wonder if Nick thought their own, exclusive Turtles just weren't profitable enough -and therefore worth the financial risk, compared to the classics
What's funny is that in one episode of Legend of Korra, Toph says to Korra that if she were in her younger prime, she would destroy Korra in earth bending. Well, in this game, that can actually happen.
EH!
Probably the most ambitious Nickelodeon game yet .
Besides not having a story mode and a lot of characters. I do really enjoy this game. I hope if Nickelodeon makes a sequel or does DLC to this I hope add more to it. Great Job 👏🏻 👍🏻 Shadow.

Since there’s gonna be two bonus characters, he’s definitely gonna be one of them
HIVE? You mean High Five right? XD

Honestly this game is a pretty fun and fast platform fighter, I really like it, personally I main Catdog
Spongebob move set is like marshal law
As with delayed physical copies, I feel ya shadow streak. The switch physical copies got the same delays due to factory and shipping snafus.
I was hoping for Jenny Wakeman to be part of the roster. But I guess she's still obscure to most people. Here's hoping she'll be in a DLC.
Wasn't Invader Zim a 2000's character, like Danny Phantom?
Yes he is. His show premiered in 2001.
Haven't played the game yet, but I already admire how many characters they've put in it. Ordered this game yesterday and I’m shocked at how good this is despite having very bad reviews
Great gameplay held back by limited gameplay options. Smash 64, but now without the excuse of age and hardware limitations.

YES a smash game I CAN play!!!!🤩

I hope Harvey Beaks join newcomers
Why PTE XL specifically?
Great review. I was curious about this game but hearing it doesn't have a story mode is a huge turn off.
It seems like a waste to have a crossover event but no meaningful interactions between the characters.
Variety in characters, maps and modes are needed so there is room for improvement. Other than that it is a pretty soild Nicktoons game.
🔥🔥
At least this game isn’t plagirizing Smash Bros, unlike a CERTAIN game no one probably cared about anymore. Cough *Punch Time Explosion* Cough
Nah, people still like PTE
Too bad that game relied too much on old CN that it died quicker and hasn’t seen any rerelease.
Really? I thought people forgot about the game now that Multiversus has come out
I know the memes are werid dude
no dfence but the first 2 playstations are the best it have the most nostalgia games

Coulda just made a "story" mode with a preset list of enemies and stages and small shreds of text or something such.
Cartoon Network Punch time explosion xl was such a fun game! Hope it gets a sequel in the future
So the recent addition to the cast was shredder.
Still waiting for Lori Loud and Jenny Wakeman to be added.
You know zim is from the 2000s
you got beef against rise of the tmnt?
2:18 How I got my refund. Lmao
hey reptar is my favorite too
at least the game has garfield
Well this was a pretty great video
Happy Halloween Shadow!

Yeah, that's I needed: Some salt.
I can definitely categorize "the PS5 is my favorite console of all time" as one.
What if Nick Jr. shows got reps? It would be pretty hilarious to play as...
Wubbzy and Daizy
The Map
The Backyardigans
Don't you think?
No timmy turner or jimmy neutron shit game not having those 2000s era titans is a huge oversight
