I know a guy in Alaska that says a good 12 gauge shotgun with Breneke slugs is better bear defense / knock down power than any rifle ever. I agree ☝️ But I would not feel under gunned with a .30-06 either .
Both are great, well inspect why your rifle doesn't, when you get it into 100% working order. You'll be pretty pleased to own a free accurate rifle that can digest a huge spectrum of powders and bullet weight combinations starting from 110gr to 220gr rounds.😁👍👍
I have two 742's. One in 06 and the other in .243. I have had feed issues with the 06 but the 243 does fine. Appreciate the help on the cleaning issues for the jamming Jenny's.
Rifle rounds are incredibile powerful.30-06 got same amount of energy at 260 yards like shotgun slug at 30 yards. And same drop like slug at 80 yards😊.Rifle power.30-06.❤Beast 😊
The difference is based upon the velocity and mushing of the 30-06. I wouldn't want to be hit with either, but the 06 will greatly outperform the slug after 75 yards. Less than 75 I would presume it to be about equal to a deer.
Like the other fellow said, you can pull up utube videos on how to fix the 742, they were notorious for jamming. I had one in 308 that jammed at least once per magazine, and it turned out to be a faulty magazine!
I don't even own a hi-powered rifle I got two shotguns on a Mossberg 500 410 and a savage 755auto 16ga I do have a Henry lever action rifle but it's a 22wmr it's got some power for its size but still not a hi-powered rifle shotguns are the way to go
I grew up in NJ , shotgun only state wide , i am now in northeast PA and still prefer my slug gun , i also hunt parts of the Catskill mts in NY and some areas there are shotgun only , in hardwoods especially i like my shotgun , enjoy an have fun
Make shoure you’never shoot a slug through a full choke you will distroy the barrel you will blow out the chock use a modified or improved cylinder things like this should be notated in these types of vidos
@@JG-six-gunA lot of slugs are in a plastic sabot and/or are made of soft lead. You won't "distroy" your full choke barrel.😅 Always take with a grain of salt what someone says who flunked out of spelling skool. 😅 Thanks for the vid!
A full choke 12ga is all I ever hunted deer with when I was a kid, only 12ga I had lol. Ooohh it never hurt it a bit, remington mod 58 30 inch full choke

Everyone complaining about 30~06 recoil, just take a look on 12 g. slug recoil
There's videos on here that will show you how to fix the cycling on your 742 most times it just simple cleaning of the rotating inertia bolt and lube
Thanks, I'll look into it.

Shooting left with that 0-6. Final results evidence of the difference between slug/bullet weights.
Out to 150 yds i will take my 12ga with slugs any day over a rifle , under 100 yds shot gun rules

Very Nice 😊
That’s wild .
Dude, it might have been easier to carry the camera to the target.

I wondered about that. I use a gun with an improved cylinder, but thanks for the comment.

Where do you people get your information?
Ma cosa voleva dimostrare ?? Forse che lui di balistica non ne capisce un bel niente.
If you want I can tell you how to get the 742 to cycle
I did look it up and used grease for the lugs, but I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet
Why that pistol?
Because it's fun!
That's what we do in Amerika
