Honestly getting all 3 will do you good...the thing is almost everyone who has CySA+ has a Sec+. Mad Hat here on youtube said that all the stuff he learned in his Cyber Batchelors degree is covered in the Google Cybersecurity certificate, Sec+, and CySA+
CySA is technically better but HR doesn't really recognize it as being higher than Sec+. I have both, but the CySA+ was my favorite to study for since it covered other domains that I had gone more in depth with after Sec+
did the CySA give you a sense of practicality or was it like Sec+ where it's 1mi wide and inch deep ? did it give you skills or knowledge to uphold skills ?
@@Drafs2099 cysa gives you more insight on what hands-on skills you should be focusing on. Even though it's vendor neutral, you should be digging through the objectives by acquiring skills based on those objectives.
HR is only as good as the hiring managers allow...unless you are government; that's another story...specific to the government type and what they service.
For entry level they might not ask you but it defiantly comes up in interview debriefs when deciding a candidate since technical interviews can only cover so much.
Thanks Josh! Great information as always. Currently finishing the CourseCareers IT Course and Google IT Professional Certification in preparation for A+. After that it’s off to the races with Help Desk applications while starting the cybersecurity training.
I have both certs and while they do help, cysa+ is geared more towards SOC roles however you can still use it if you want to became a security engineer or senior security analyst
Great Comparison. I think CySA is better because it focused more on being an Analyst and hands on unlike security +. Now I think people should do Sec+ first and then CySA+. As always Great Content. ✊🏼😎
Another banger! Thank you, Josh! In your opinion would it be beneficial to have Sec + for Cybersecurity Tech Sales? Currently completing Course Careers Tech sales and have DION Training Sec+ course lined up next.
Hey Josh another great video - been watching your content for awhile and if I can ask why don’t you make an updated video of your course. Describing a few key terms and a tad bit of detail so the average joe like me gets a better understanding. If nothing else I support your work and you have pushed me to map out my new career path, thank you
I will be taking security 701 in the next 5 days then after CySA+ I hope I should be done with that by end of August. Then will work on PenTest for 3-4 months. No experience though in tech, I have Google Cybersecurity already. Thank you for the video. I will checkout your practice questions
@@Trade_With_ChillI'm scared to take the exam man I feel that I'm not well prepared. I have taken professor messer practice test, taken Jason Dion, sybex practice test, Whizlabs, MeasureUp pass guaranteed and yet I still feel scared. I have no IT background and self taught, I have this imposter syndrome excuse. Thanks for follow up
This field gets so confusing with what to get. I watched videos from many people, and everyone says similar and different things. I'm just gonna keep working on Cysa and then maybe get the Google cert. I'm drained. 😆 Great video Josh! U always speak truth and I appreciate u.
Question: Job Markets like the ones in Hawaii always have the DOD requirements, does that mean by owning the CompTIA security+, such requirement will be met?
I have experience taking both (SY0-501 & CS0-002) I passed Security+ but failed CySA+ by twenty points. I gravitated towards CySA+ because I wanted to stay blue team oriented, it's definitely a harder exam.
I passed the SYO-601 and the CSO-002, both by slim margins. I used a Udemy course for CySA+ and a UA-cam video for the Security+. The Udemy CySA+ course kind of bored me out even when listening on 1.25X speed and I didn't even finish the course by the time I took that exam. 754 on Security+ . I took another exam (ITS - Cybersecurity) earlier that day and passed that one with relative ease. 755 on CySA+. I studied for about 10 hours for it after I decided to not reschedule that exam.
Please help me, I have only been working as a SOC Analyst for about 6 months now, and I want to increase my portfolio, should I take sec+ or cysa+? because I heard that cysa+ covers more material for SOC but sec+ is more famous than cysa+
I’ve been a security analyst for 2 years. I have a sec+ and net+. And BTL1. Should I get the CySA+? Is it gonna give me the boost o need to hop to a better job maybe even remote? Cuz it’s really hard been trying for months and no calls. My resume doesn’t suck.
I got both. Security+ is more popular in the eyes of HR and recruiters. CySA+ prepares those heading to SOC Analyst, Junior Cybersecurity Analyst roles. My next target is to get the Cisco CyberOps Associate certification as a way to fully renew my current CompTIA certifications. Security+ is more of an entry-level certification while CySA+ is considered intermediate. If the Indeed average pay for either certification is true, then I'm quite underpaid. LMAO.
I don't think declaring a "winner" works in this comparison because Security+ is more general and CySA+ is more specific. In my opinion, get Security+ to start out with, then get CySA+ if you intend to focus on cybersecurity. Just as how I wouldn't recommend Cloud+ to someone going into cybersecurity, I wouldn't recommend CySA+ to someone going into infrastructure. note: by "wouldn't recommend," I'm not saying to avoid getting them, I'm more saying they shouldn't be a priority.
LOL $104,000 for Security+ .... more like $65,000 but definitely depends on experience.I know you're just looking at the data but I just thought that was funny. I do live in a low cost of living area though... this is a great review! I would personally go for BOTH certs. Sec+ first for sure.
It sometimes feels like when you start the video, like in the first 20-30 seconds you are actually saying "Okey.. as so many of you repeatedly kept annoying me with this specific question.. HERE is the video about it.. happy?" 🤣🤣

Can I take the course even if I don't have a security+? I have a ISC2 CC and a Google IT Support Professional certificate.
Got a question like you offer the internsip after the completion or how does that work
Thoughts on Alison Courses?
Just passed CySA+ today
I’m considering to take the course! It’s difficult all? And the exam too!?
Honestly getting all 3 will do you good...the thing is almost everyone who has CySA+ has a Sec+. Mad Hat here on youtube said that all the stuff he learned in his Cyber Batchelors degree is covered in the Google Cybersecurity certificate, Sec+, and CySA+
Get the Security+ for the generalist, and then the CySA+ if you're more focused on working SOC/IR. Cheers.
This is what I was searching for 👍
I was told to specialize in order to stand out...but that works well if you are casting a wide net and can move to a different region.
Agreed

Outside of DoD, no one has ever asked me about certs. I used them to bypass HR.
Sec + and Cysa can get u into a SOC. Casp will get you rmf and sca and isso jobs
Whats SCA?
Compita A+ > Comptia Network+ > Comptia Sec+ > Comptia CySA+ > Comptia Pentest+ > Comptia CASP+ (Which later will be Comptia X)
This is the exact path I’m currently taking but I skipped the A+, I’ll write those exams after getting the CySA+😅
Currently studying for CySA+ from my college even though I’m ultimately trying to get into GRC. But like they always say, more certs never hurt.
I have both certs and while they do help, cysa+ is geared more towards SOC roles however you can still use it if you want to became a security engineer or senior security analyst
I’m going to study for both certifications!!!
Josh, do you have both certifications active and current or are you just guessing on all your observation, analysis and final conclusions? Thanks
Thanks Josh!
Studying for sec+ now I think cysa and sec+ compliment each other. Cysa is a much more specialized cert and makes sense to take it after security+.
Great Comparison. I think CySA is better because it focused more on being an Analyst and hands on unlike security +. Now I think people should do Sec+ first and then CySA+.

Tbh I took the cysa to renew all my lower certs

hey man, thank you for the support and thank you for this idea. haha.
Is your course similar to the course for BTL1? Can you do a compare and contrast video between the two?
That's a good idea! I'm actually coming up with a community now with more stuff in it :)
What’s your thoughts on Alison Courses certification?
I have both. cysa+ is fun! In .gov environment cysa is a must. Of course after sec+ that is

Im interested of learning cybersecurity🙏🏽
Question: Job Markets like the ones in Hawaii always have the DOD requirements, does that mean by owning the CompTIA security+, such requirement will be met?
Can you compare CASP+ & Comptia PenTest+ 👍👍👍
Why? CompTIA Pentest+ is more on the level with CySA+… CASP+ is above both. Not really comparable.
I have experience taking both (SY0-501 & CS0-002) I passed Security+ but failed CySA+ by twenty points. I gravitated towards CySA+ because I wanted to stay blue team oriented, it's definitely a harder exam.

Lol I passed cysa 003 by one question
Please help me, I have only been working as a SOC Analyst for about 6 months now, and I want to increase my portfolio, should I take sec+ or cysa+? because I heard that cysa+ covers more material for SOC but sec+ is more famous than cysa+
Passed Sec+ and studying CYSA+ now, also submitted resume to a hiring manager at a SOC. 😅
Thanks, studying for my security plus rn

Must have wanted some Cheerios, 😂.
Honestly, good work Josh!
Keep it up!
Interesting average. I have sec+ and make exactly 104k with it.
Haha nice 🎯
Just your sec+ or do you have any other certs?
I currently Don't have either. So, DRAW! 😂😂
❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Please do a review on COURSERA ( CompTIA A+ and Cyber +) i have seen their cert they also offer 50% off for CompTIA A+ Exam

If you are brand new. But after 2 - 3 yrs you should be able to make it.
I like your voice
30% off $404 brings the total down to $282.80.

lmao, sorry
Have both and both are useless
@JoshMadakor I will email you. I have a few questions about your bootcamp. As always great content thank you
