- Since the series' premiere on the Gameboy Advance, the WarioWare series has defined what made each Nintendo console generation unique by highlighting key features that were present on each console. Whether it was WarioWare: Touched on the Nintendo DS or WarioWare Smooth Moves on the Nintendo Wii this series was the perfect launch title for any new Nintendo hardware. But, why isn't that really the case anymore? Why haven't we really seen a proper WarioWare game after Game & Wario on the Wii U? Well, let's take a closer look and find out for ourselves!

Imma rant, now.
People want Warioware Gold on the Switch, but Gold’s microgame selection requires what the 3DS has that the Switch doesn’t, namely a mic to blow into, and a touch screen, both of which aren’t as accessible on a Switch. Heck, I’m not even sure if the Switch console has gyro controls (I know the Joy Con do).
If a Warioware is to be developed on Switch, then it would have to be designed to be playable in both console and handheld modes. Using buttons and motions controls would seem to be the only ways to pull this off.
However, with a more powerful console comes one idea: DIY. You could potentially make your own microgames, which would be awesome. Similar to how Sm4sh for Wii U could be played with a 3DS, you could potentially use a 3DS as a controller for a Warioware Switch title, which would be interesting.
This is on top of sharing games online, to where maybe a person could just hop in online and play randomly chosen games from a growing pile of custom microgames, which would build longevity similar to Super Mario Maker. You could even port these microgames to Gold through an update, which would also be cool.
Those are just my thoughts, though.
I was going to say that the Switch has a touch screen, but it isn't as good as the DS's.
Gillian Backhouse I think it’d be fine in handheld mode, but not console mode. I mean, unless Nintendo would want you to play specific parts of the game in specific ways. I feel it goes against the spirit of the Switch.
I think Nintendo needs to release _some_ Switch game that can utilize the 3DS in some way. Maybe a version of Mario Maker where you create levels on your 3DS and upload them to your Switch for easy level creation (of course levels would still be creatable on the Switch, but this would not only be a way for players to transfer their old 3DS Mario Maker levels to the Switch but allow users to create Mario Maker levels while the Switch is docked without using the janky gyroscope pointer controls). Not only would it show that the Switch and 3DS can co-exist without fanboys cannabalizing eachother either. I think streaming from your n3DS to your Switch or an Accessory that could play 3DS games (even though it would of been more realistic on the Wii U) would be great ways to show that a 3DS release isn't a loss for a Switch owner.
TropicPlaysGames Therein lies the rub, unfortunately. The 3DS has two screens. The Switch has only one. I agree that some 3DS/Switch hybrid game should be released. Maybe the future Switch Pokemon games could do something about it, especially for the Pokedex completers.
Keeping with the Warioware topic, perhaps release either an expansion to Gold or a separate eshop thing for DIY games on the 3DS and release it at the same time as the Switch Warioware. The you can transfer those games to the Switch to play. Super Mario Maker could be the same thing, with 3DS-made levels being transferred to the Switch version to play.
Gallant Blade I could totally see something like that working. The reason why I brought up Mario Maker in particular (and a Wario Ware D.I.Y. 2 in your case) is because I have no clue how people who only play their Switch docked are gonna make levels/textures and such for micogames. Super Mario Maker/Wario Ware deserves to be on the Switch (this is coming from someone who despises the system) but it simply doesn't have the hardware needed to create levels in docked mode without annoying and floaty gyroscope controls like in Captain Toad Switch. I think in terms of a WarioWare D.I.Y. Switch remake your idea would work well and I think it would be best for people who have a 3DS laying around collecting dust or people looking to extend functionality of their games.

What happened to Warioware? It's over there on the 3DS! Jokes aside I love Warioware. I hope Nintendo decides to not only make a Switch game of Warioware, but I also want Nintendo to put the Warioware characters in the Mario spin-off games. I'd be down to play as Jimmy T. in Mario Kart or 9-Volt in Mario Party and to be fair, since Wario is part of the Mario Universe, then so are his (friends) employees. I really wish that could happen one day.

Absolutely not. If they do anything for Waluigi let it be his own thing, his own game. I don't want him overshadowing everyone else in WarioWare when the series is perfectly fine without him. Waluigi should never be in WarioWare IMO.

Yeah, I actually really enjoyed my time with Game & Wario as well,. Most of the games included in it are actually really fun especially the multiplayer stuff. It's just, I can't really see myself going back to it anytime soon.

I think a WarioWare on Switch is very likely since it seems like WarioWare Gold is selling decently well over in the EU so far. I just think it's still probably a few years out until we'll see another game after Gold. Thankfully, I think a Rhythm Heaven on Switch isn't too far off, since it's been awhile now since Rhythm Heaven Megamix was released and from what I've heard Megamix sold decently well on the 3DS.

Jakstalgia I think WarioWare come cuz they don't take that much to make I just think it wasn't a priority early on for the switch because they don't typically sell as much as other franchises

Honestly, you have no idea how happy I was when I found out WarioWare Gold was a thing. As a kid, I probably played through WarioWare Touched (my first game in the series) maybe 5+ times cuz I loved it so much and unlocking the souvenirs after the mini games was so immensely satisfying and I'm looking forward to this new game which I just ordered today and it'll arrive in two weeks. I played through the demo of it and man, I'm already in love. They kept a LOT of the original mini games.

Warioware: Smooth Moves and Super Mario Galaxy 2 are my favorite games on the Wii. In my opinion, Smooth Moves is criminally underrated. I'd argue one of the best motion controlled games ever. Also, Tomorrow Hill is my @#$%ing JAM!

Part of it is perhaps Wario himself. A lot of the side characters are more likable than him.
It do have an upside of making people interested of these side characters and buy the game. Not all kind of people, but it does worked to an extent.

I always wondered at that weird irony; Wario himself is obviously the main character and the one we know the most, but the other characters - his "friends", "employees", "flunkies", whatever they are to him - are weirdly more interesting and appealing to us as the audience; Ashley the outcast witch, Orbulon the mysterious alien, 9-Volt the attractive yet oddly terrifying milf, most of them seem like they could be more than just sidelined and niche cartoon game characters. Hell, a select few could probably could have games on their own outside of WarioWare that would do pretty well.
The warioware series is something I hold dear in my heart. I remember the time I bought Touched! with the first iteration of the Nintendo DS. Not to mention the fond memories I had with the other games as well! All I can say is that I love Warioware Inc.
I'm glad we at least got a "Best Of" compilation for the 3DS. Although I wish they made a full on 3D microgame compilation. Anyway, great video as always!
Personally I'd like Wario Land to return, but there's a catch. For the first time Waluigi is featured in his game or playable; however as per their traits, Wario treats him like a rug. Throwing, punching and swinging him around as a tool to his means rather than another guy; although he doesn't mind since he's helping.
One thoguht is waluigi lives outside wario's castle and when wario's making games, he's either watching it or "protecting" it from baddies. Or as we seem he just lives in it without telling him.
Wario Land could have you play wario and after unlocking 100% waluigi through all the established stories and emchanics from the past. Warioware characters could cameo and it would be a fun ride. Bring back the pirates from the first two games, add a labyrinth under his house for warioland 4 gameplay (unlocking warioware minigames) and it's golden!
Id like to see them fighting each other for loot, Wario using full force and Waluigi more like a tricky guy with tools

Or maybe a more four-swords approach would be good; collect as much gold as you can before the level is over, but you still need to work together here and there. Maybe have the warioware people as other choosable characters... wow that sounds like a lot of fun actually.

the original warioware inc along with twisted/touched/smooth moves gives me vibes that no game will ever give me again. the music/graphic style/overall enjoyment it gave me was just amazing honestly
I loved playing WarioWare inc. on my GBA growing up, it's still one of my favorite games for the system. The newer ones just don't feel the same and I hope WarioWare Gold lives up to the original title.
Yeah, I was replaying Smooth Moves earlier today and I kept forgetting that "oh yeah, most of this series is basically tech demos, isn't it?"
It's funny to me that despite being essentially glorified tech demos released early into many systems' lifespan, the WarioWare games still feel more advanced, precise, and modern when using each console's gimmicks than games that released years later on those same systems and tried shoehorning in waggle controls, awkward and imprecise touchscreen implementation, or awful use of the DS's microphone.
This video is the first one I have seen of your channel and I have to say it is very well made! I was honestly surprised when watching and then looking at the subscriber count being so low. You just got yourself a new subscriber! Keep up the good work! I am definitely going to check out your other videos! P.S: I would love to see the Wario Ware series cone back after this 3DS entry. I think it would be lovely on the Switch with whatever gimmic they choose for the next entry!

Warioware is one of my most favorite handheld game seriesto play, because its one of those games you can pick up and play for a couple minutes and put it away.
Here's my stance on the WarioWare series:
So, imagine this. I'm in elementary school. Life is good, the summers seemed endless and the GameCube, PS2, XBox and GBA were all the rave. It really was a great time to be alive, with so many games with so much personality getting released, and Nintendo's website was not just informative, but also interactive. Like, you could go online and see these awesomely designed sites based around the games that were coming out.
With all this in mind, imagine how I felt when I saw two Wario games coming out. One was Wario World, which is one of my absolute favorite GameCube games of all time, and the other one was WarioWare Inc. Mega Microgames. The last one felt... really weird to me. Like, I knew it was Wario, but I had no clue who all these new characters were. Nevertheless, it intrigued me, and I so wanted to play the game... which I couldn't because I did not own a GBA at the time.
Then came the next generation of consoles (the last good one). The DS was brand new and we would soon see the WII, PS3 and XBOX 360. I got the system with both Super Mario 64 DS and WarioWare Touched!, which was the first game I played in the series. It was SUPER fun! It really did show off the DS's capabilities, and it had so much personality.
Then came Smooth Moves which... I did not buy.
It wasn't until the Wii U came out that I would get back into the WarioWare series with Game & Wario. It was a radically different game, but it was... decent. However, it was obvious that the golden days were long gone and that this was just a weak replacement for what felt so unique and awesome back in the GBA days. In fact, when I finally downloaded WarioWare Inc. Mega Microgames from the Nintendo EShop, I realized I had much more fun with that than with Game & Wario. Something WAS missing.
WarioWare Gold was the thing that made me realize exactly what was missing, but then came the next issue. The style and the voices. I like the idea of having full voice clips, but then you realize that most of the voices just sound... off. That and the redesigns just did not look good. It felt like a WarioWare game... except not really.
So... that's my stance.
This video made me buy Smooth Moves. I loved it so much, I beat the game the same day it got delivered.
Now I want to buy a copy of the game to support my love for the series.

warioware gold makes my life feel complete, i have been waiting for this game since smooth moves but the wait felt like I've been waiting since twisted which was my favorite one, i have been playing warioware since the first game.

I think I'm definitely buying WWGold, this series brings back so many childhood memories from WarioWare MegaMicroGames Party or whatever it is on the GameCube, I found... some enjoyment in Game & Wario, specifically from the Gamer mode, and I'm glad to see WarioWare in full force for Gold.

Back in 2016 right before the Switch was announced I had the idea of a WarioWare game that combined the mechanics of the first three entries

When I got WarioWare Touched for free using My Nintendo back when it was good, I immediately fell in love with it. I'm definitely getting Gold. I'd have it now but no store in my entire town had a physical copy

About WarioWare Gold selling well... Believe it or not, I was glad I pre-ordered it because the webshop I buy my games at was completely sold out of it in no time. I knew the series was popular, but in the Netherlands? I was pleasantly surprised by it. People still seem to love WarioWare and that gives me hope.

Theres actually a good explanation as to why Wario went from living in a castle to being reduced to living in a house. See in Wario world you got multiple endings depending on the amount of spritelings you safe, the more spritelings Wario saves the better his castle would be. But if he doesnt save a single spriteling all he gets towards the end is a little tent. This would also mean that these events happened before Wario land 4.

I've never played a WarioWare game before but I'm very interested in getting WarioWare Gold. The game looks very fun and I love the fully voiced cutscenes so much that it makes me want a WarioWare cartoon series.
I love the WarioWare series, I love the gameplay and its characters! I recently bought the GBA games and now have more content 😁 I would LOVE to see a Switch title.

- Wario Ware DIY, with a lot of potential and a critical acclaim, sold poorly in 2010
- There are new games and gameplay ideas in Wario Ware Gold !
I’ve never played WarioWare, but the voice acting in WarioWare Gold is what is convincing me to buy this game.
Warioware Gold is the series returning to its former glory in my opinion. I’d imagine as long as sales are decent another will happen.
Honestly, if had to guess why WarioWare moved to the wayside is not Wii Sports but, the merger of EAD and SPD. You see, Before EPD was formed, Nintendo moved their headquarters and in that move SPD1 was added on to the EAD teams but this wasn't publicly known. In their old arrangement, SPD and Intelligent Systems were operating in the same building. So when collaborating on the WarioWare series, Sakamoto only had to go down the hall and working together was pretty easy (Intelligent Systems also collaborated with the SDD group in SPD on Brain Age Concentration Training and Daigasso Band Bros. P). When Nintendo created their new headquarters in late 2013, they moved the internal developers from SPD into the EAD section and made them an unofficial EAD6 and moved up the SPD groups by 1 number. In the move, they let Intelligent Systems keep the old building. Now that they were in separate buildings, working together was much harder. On top of that, EAD6 had a huge success with Tomodachi Life and were working on that localization with the rest of the team putting together a new Rhythm Heaven game. Intelligent Systems also had a huge hit with Fire Emblem Awakening and Paper Mario Sticker Star reviving the franchises and pivoting to be a more premiere developer. Between Code Name STEAM, Fire Emblem Fates and Paper Mario Color Splash, all hands were tied up. This meant that the next WarioWare was put on the wayside after Game & Wario flopped. With the completion of Color Splash, IS apparently wanted to make WarioWare Gold even if most of the Nintendo devs weren't interested so, they got in touch with their producer (Kensuke Tanabe) and he got the few Nintendo devs that were hardcore about the series (most notable Goro Abe) and they worked on a new entry. Alongside this was Kouichi Kawamoto, one of the original designers of Sound Bomber from Mario Artist and the first WarioWare entries. He was over the course of time, put in charge of the SDD group in SPD and then EPD4 when the divisions merged and produced 1-2 Switch which involves a lot of the spirit of WarioWare. Unsure of who else was involved in 1-2 Switch since they never published credits for that game but several of the Tomodachi team worked on Miitopia which was also produced by him so presumably, there were some WarioWare devs on it.
I've never played any of the Wario Ware games, and Gold just hit the market. Veterans of the series; what installments would you recommend? (Also been wanting to get into Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, any fans of that? Heard Explorers of Sky was usually the one people said to get)

To me, WarioWare Gold coming at the tail end of the 3DS' life cycle is kind of missing the point of a WW game, but I understand the reasoning behind it now.
