- An ambient piece for my Eurorack modular system. All sounds/effects from the rack. Available for download at soundcloud - / the-fossils-of-intention
Patch Notes:
Piano Sound: Mutable Instruments Rings (in symphathetic string mode) being excited by Mutable Instruments Braids in "CLOU", running through a Make Noise MMG and a Laurentide Synthworks VG2. The VG is getting a quick exponential envelope from a Make Noise Maths. Rings going through a Mutable Instruments Clouds in granular mode with audio-rate random modulation from a Qu-Bit NanoRand. As the song progresses, I slowly make the envelopes on Maths longer and turn up the wet/dry mix on Clouds. Rings is also multed to an Alright Devices Chronoblob delay.
Lead: A second Mutable Instruments Rings (also in symphathetic string mode) being excited by the same Mutable Instruments Braids in "CLOU", except that the signal is multed straight from the MMG bypassing the LPG for a constant drone. This Rings is going into a Mannequins Three Sisters filter into the high input and output and then into a Make Noise ErbeVerb.
Bass: Make Noise STO running into a second Mutable Instruments Clouds in looping delay mode on the lowest quality setting and a Mutable Instruments Streams in compressor mode.
All sequencing provided by a Korg Electribe 2 via a Vermona QMi2 MIDI to CV module.
Finally someone making music with their modular instead of "jamming" and making cricket noises. Beautiful stuff.
I like the fact that this is a sweet, small, compact unit.
Shows that you don’t need a wall of modules to make excellent music.
What about all the stuff located outside the unit?
I remember times, when I was thinking modular synths are all about some bleep-bloop nonsense, and imitating sounds of flies farting in space. People like you can open other's minds. Thank you very much for that.
flies farting in space... The best comparison ever!! had me laughing hard
"In space, no one can hear your farts"
Welcome aboard.
@@raulrodriguez82 Unless you are a fly.
I feel like you could probably get this effect with a well trained fly orchestra.
This straight fucks me up emotionally.
ya.... still...
Airport Security : "Excuse me, can we check your suitcases ... our scanners showed suspicious looking devices and wires inside" ~ *sure, check it out ... it's just a box full of really cool sound potential*
"It's a clock. School project."
Love the words 'box full of really cool sound potential'
Mountain Star Temple yep, every time I travel too 😅
Sir, this here says Anti Matter Launch Codes. Would you please come with us.
I took a six panel Serge system in a Zero case to the airport and when they saw the module that said VC Clock and Random Voltage Generator they lost their shit. LOL. .
Found this and became inspired. You should be really proud of what you created. Absolutely beautiful.
I can't describe with words how deep this piece moves me... Ocean waves swell with longing, reaching out and never grasping anything. A limitless ocean. Thank you very much for creating it.
I've been looking at diving into modular and analog synths for a few months or so now, but every 'youtube demo' of a different synth just put me off because they were boring and stale and the patches are so rarely demonstrated in a cohesive musical experience. FINALLY, this page has inspired me beyond expectations into what modular can do and I can not wait to get involved now. Thank you r beny, I have had your music on repeat for hours
This video made me go into modular about two years ago. I came back for another listen and to say thank you. I am now broke and I'm loving it. x
Did I miss this? Did I forget about it? Beautiful, and I love the title.
and oldie but a goodie
agreed, how did i miss this one!?
I’m not sure how you guys possibly missed this... perhaps you’ve both been busy making awesome music too... Just maybe
I think this was the first piece of his I discovered and it still remains my favorite. This suitcase modular created some beautiful sounds.
Listening again - it STILL gets better - and better - a true mark of greatness,- I salute you R Beny !
It opens like a flower. Beautiful from start to finish.
I've come back to watch and listen to this several times. It's really very beautiful, thank you.
dude... there is an army of us yearning to be consumed by the eternal yawn of the void.
Hands down my favourite thing I've seen done of a modular system...fantastic stuff, thank you!
Music of pure depth, without foreground or background, without distance
One of the most gorgeous pieces I've heard in recent times. It's solidifying my quest to start and finalize my own eurorack... Good stuff!
Best "Modular Artist" for my money and this is his best track. Exceptional.
Gorgeous!
I still put this on to fall asleep, listening to this for 3 years now at least.
Been watching the view count and it finally hit 288k.
Found a solution to lack of an extended version.
Make a playlist with only this video, play it and select loop, I must have played this video a couple of thousand times over night.
Really fantastic. Your videos were one of the biggest pushes that made me commit to getting into analog synthesis.
very nice
I love your work man
So good I want to applaud my speakers when it finishes. The note that cuts through the whole piece just really drives into you emotionally, just beautiful man!
I listen to this very regularly to fall asleep, an extended version would be awesome!
These videos are not going to help me resist the plunge into modular. Great stuff, subscribed!
I just realized I was spacing out the past few minutes; such a soothing song!
There’s a reason why this has nearly 200k views. Beautiful modular piece ✨
I still think this is one of the best pieces of Eurorack based music I have ever heard...its stunning...and really shows you don't need a silly amount of modules. The textures of this composition are so gripping, I listen to this regularly....well done on a stunning work!
oh my god, this video proofs the world needs more modular (for new musical creations)
Truly immersed in your music. This is absolutely emotive!
wow, this is fantastic. LOVE the string progression from the Rings module. beautifully done!
very nice - good to hear something warmer from this kind of setup. Thanks.
Thanks beny for sharing your music with us. After some years im coming back and I still really like this piece. All the best, Piet
I'm always happy to come back to this. It's so nice and serene .
The UA-cam algorithm was on point today, this is really beautiful.
glad the algo is still showing this vid love years later
Sounds so good. It's like one of those orchestral deadmau5 tracks.
Another beautiful, hypnotic piece, thank you.
I love how this music sounds, good job mate. I also love the cute little Platypus on the windowsill behind!
Once again, another beautifully brilliant performance! So lovely!
I found myself singing along to this. Lovely.
I don't know what to do first ... buy myself an analog modular system or build my own system or simply start making music again at all ... maybe all of these three together ... if i only had the time ... absolutely inspiring and amazing ...
i always say start small. beautiful music can be made with anything. just about intention.
Just fantastic! Thanks for sharing that great work.
One of my favorite ambient pieces.
I read the Patch notes three years ago and I had no idea what the heck you were saying. Now I all makes much more sense.
the patch notes are a map
One of the best I’ve ever heard!
You’re becoming my daily dose of mind-blowing
I keep coming back to this one. so good.
Still here!
you have one of the most beautiful characteristics sound in ambient music.
Felt nice from the third note. Respect.
Your music is really inspirational. Absolutely amazing use of modular gear to produce beautiful music. Thanks so much for posting all these pieces...
Just dipping my toe into Eurorack world for the first time. Wonderful stuff r beny
such a pure jewel
This is absolutely massive, so gorgeous, incredible! I feel like it engulfs me fully and tingles my inner soul ✨
Another beautiful piece.. you have a fantastic style and use of the MI modules is really great... makes me want clouds and Rings even more.. Love my Braids. been trying to diversify my sources, but I do love the plucky sustaining sounds that Elements, Rings do so well.. Gotta get a Clouds for sure.. Keep it up!!s
Really really beautiful mate. Love seeing this sort of music done on modulars.
Wow, insainly gorgeous sounds.
This is perfect for footage of nature happening slowly.
Just love this, on repeat, you have been one on the main inspirations for me starting my modular journey.
Amazing! Love it!
Extraordinary...
your videos are absolutely the most awesome euro rack pieces i've heard! Great stuff man
finally ... the face behind the master ;) great work man , very very inspiring !
Oh i'm absolutely dropping this in any dj mix and set i can. Amazing!
love this so much. total classic
This video is what really got me interested in eurorack...thank you r beny for being an inspiration!
Gorgeous, incredible tones.
Gorgeous track! Thanks for posting it.
ENO's what hes doing 👍
Further to this......
For me, here is what is special about this piece.
If you check out many synth sessions on you tube, they all tend to be Klaus Shulz/ Tangs style "written for synthesizer" pieces,
This isnt.
It could be played on guitars, or an orchestra. The fact its on a synth doesnt weigh the piece down.
I know I quipped about Brian Eno but thats the biggest complement I could think of.
This is beautiful, I have no smart comments, or witty notes, just gratitude for what you’ve created. Thank you
Amasing!
I've never been this relaxed in my life before.
Nice! An ambient europatch, with lots of Mutable that doesn't sound overly Mutable! I feel like racks with a lot of their modules have a tendency to sound the same, especially with ambient music. But you really harnessed their expressiveness. Great Job!
fantastic stuff.
Kinda sounds like This Will Destroy You. Love it!
wow... amazingly nostalgic song for myself
Amazing piece thanks for sharing!
Wow man, this is really excellent!! Beautiful patch/work.
All your stuff is astounding!
Beutiful track. Thanks for sharing this great music. I´m listening here in sweden the day before christmas walking around my appartment cleaning up a bit for tomorrow thru my headphones.
Simply gorgeous, no yammering necessary. This feels amazing.
I love this music.
Extremely soothing sounds, thank you for this!
Incredibly beautiful.
This jam still makes me want to be a better person.
Very sweet.
Very very beautiful. Just the right ting for today's mood :-)
Heart Wrenching Sounds, beautiful
stunning stuff.
Such a lovely piece of music. Thank you for sharing with us.
This gives me the same Feeling like the minecraft Soundtrack. Love it!
I keep coming back to this, this got me into the weird wonderful world of eurorack
Amazing performance and patch
nailed it!
Very nice! Compliments from Italy!
Very nice.
Man, i just keep hitting the like buttons on any videos i watch of your
Wow this is brilliant! I could listen to an hour long version of this stuff
this is unbelievable
That was very beautiful.
this is so mind blowing
Merveilleux _ je fonds comme une perle de rosée givrée au levé du soleil ... merci _ Wonderful _ I fund like a pearl of dew frosted at sunrise ... thank you
Love it, it's almost like one of the calmer Mogwai tracks... you could be forgiven thinking that there's a couple of electric guitars in there :)
was definitely trying to make those resonators sound like e-bowed guitars :)
@@rbeny Are you on Spotify by any chance? You should compile an album and get in on that :) I listened to a few of your other tracks and it hits all the right spots for me man. Love it!
