  • An ambient piece for my Eurorack modular system. All sounds/effects from the rack. Available for download at soundcloud - / the-fossils-of-intention
    Patch Notes:
Piano Sound: Mutable Instruments Rings (in symphathetic string mode) being excited by Mutable Instruments Braids in "CLOU", running through a Make Noise MMG and a Laurentide Synthworks VG2. The VG is getting a quick exponential envelope from a Make Noise Maths. Rings going through a Mutable Instruments Clouds in granular mode with audio-rate random modulation from a Qu-Bit NanoRand. As the song progresses, I slowly make the envelopes on Maths longer and turn up the wet/dry mix on Clouds. Rings is also multed to an Alright Devices Chronoblob delay.
Lead: A second Mutable Instruments Rings (also in symphathetic string mode) being excited by the same Mutable Instruments Braids in "CLOU", except that the signal is multed straight from the MMG bypassing the LPG for a constant drone. This Rings is going into a Mannequins Three Sisters filter into the high input and output and then into a Make Noise ErbeVerb.
Bass: Make Noise STO running into a second Mutable Instruments Clouds in looping delay mode on the lowest quality setting and a Mutable Instruments Streams in compressor mode.
All sequencing provided by a Korg Electribe 2 via a Vermona QMi2 MIDI to CV module.

Finally someone making music with their modular instead of "jamming" and making cricket noises. Beautiful stuff.

I like the fact that this is a sweet, small, compact unit.
Shows that you don’t need a wall of modules to make excellent music.

I remember times, when I was thinking modular synths are all about some bleep-bloop nonsense, and imitating sounds of flies farting in space. People like you can open other's minds. Thank you very much for that.

I've been looking at diving into modular and analog synths for a few months or so now, but every 'youtube demo' of a different synth just put me off because they were boring and stale and the patches are so rarely demonstrated in a cohesive musical experience. FINALLY, this page has inspired me beyond expectations into what modular can do and I can not wait to get involved now. Thank you r beny, I have had your music on repeat for hours

      Further to this......
For me, here is what is special about this piece.
If you check out many synth sessions on you tube, they all tend to be Klaus Shulz/ Tangs style "written for synthesizer" pieces,
      This isnt.
It could be played on guitars, or an orchestra. The fact its on a synth doesnt weigh the piece down.
I know I quipped about Brian Eno but thats the biggest complement I could think of.
