  • Pool Patterns or Routes are the order that you look to take a clearance out in. In this video I play a few racks and talk you through my thought process as I try to clear the table.
    My patterns are not perfect, and I am sure many of you will see different ways of going, but I hope that this video highlights some of the thoughts that can help you work out your clearances.
    Comment below to let me know if you agree with my patterns or if you have spotted a better way to go.
    And please hit the subscribe button. I have plenty more content on the way.
    I recently retired from being a Professional Pool Player and England International to focus on a commentating and broadcasting career. My aim for this channel is to pass on some of the things I learned along the way, some coaching tips, practice routines and drills, as well as some insights into my broadcasting career.

    Great video mate, very helpful. Just an idea… could you have a visual cue ball on the top of the screen identifying where you’re striking the cue?

    Great vid Simon, this has always been my biggest problem, taking the balls in the correct order.

    I'm a new subscriber, this channel is amazing. I've been watching Break for Life with awesome cueing and cue control tips, but for snooker. I'm a pool player so this is golden. Thank you and keep going.

    Great video, thanks for sharing!! Could you do a video on how many balls you can pot without missing leaving the black to the end and then re racking the balls again and having the break as a free shot

    • @SimonTWebb

      Yes, I can have a go at that. Its a good way of working on patterns as well.

    Hi Simon.
    Enjoying the videos, this one especially to get someone else’s approach to the table. Mind me asking why you wouldn’t kick the red off the rail in frame 4? Chose to take red over opposite middle when that could have been used as security?

    • @147hartley147
      @147hartley147 3 роки тому +1

      To add, it was the rack where you ended up missing the red down the railing last ball.

    • @SimonTWebb
      @SimonTWebb  3 роки тому

      I like that as an idea, but I think the camera is slighty deceptive as i dont think that shot was really on. It was a lot thinner than it looked.

      @@SimonTWebb I know what you mean, always looks different when you’re at the table compared to watching. What’s yours thoughts on that though? Would you ideally like to kick a ball out or try and play percentage and leave a shot?

    • @SimonTWebb
      @SimonTWebb  3 роки тому

      I always prefer to leave the ball and back myself to make it. But I would play to kick it out if it helped the pattern. If the shot you mention was on then I like it as you can play it with loads of control having the ball over the other centre.

    Would've took the second last red to the top left. Would've left you alright for the last one down the rail.

    Still watching- plan B running side to get on bottom ball and snooker if pot missed. Great v-log - again a drill to practice to improve pattern play. I need to set aside time for training. I only play on match night and training time will help me improve

    Hello. So for the missed pot, couldn't you have played top spin with a touch of left english to play 2 rails amd the white lands behind the black ball to pot the black in the middle pocket?

    Nice little practice routine that I definitely need. Think I'd of taken the easier pot at the start of the 1st, hate missing a tough opener and handing the better balls over. Was thinking you should definitely take the ball down the line when you were on it, weren't guaranteed to get back on it as nice.

    • @SimonTWebb
      @SimonTWebb  3 роки тому

      I agree, I should have changed my route and taken the ball down the rail when i was on it.

    Yes I would have taken the ball on the cushion. When an opportunity comes to clear a horrible cushion welded ball I go for it. Not always to my advantage I have to say.

    17:46 On whether to change to the red on the rail. In a match, I'd imagine that would be the play so if you miss it you leave plenty of reds on the table to get in the way.

    • @SimonTWebb
      @SimonTWebb  2 роки тому

      Yeah, I wish i had changed. Think i would have done if I wasnt filming the video.

  • @richieinnit2213
    @richieinnit2213 3 роки тому

    At 16:36 I would have tried to steer the white towards ball down cushion landing just above middle pocket area incase I over hit it I could go for red between yellow and black. Idea would be to drop it down cushion and either take red by middle into opposite middle or top pocket landing to run through for the last red and black in opposite corner.

    • @SimonTWebb
      @SimonTWebb  3 роки тому +1

      I agree, where I landed was perfect for the ball on the cushion, and in a match I would have changed my plan and played it. But as i had a clear plan I wanted to play it out and see what happened as i felt the ball down the rail would have been a better ball to land on the black. I was annoyed i didnt see the route to play on the ball on the cushion from the start.

    Being an excellent potter makes most breaks easy enough, position can go awry and the break still continues. Most of us are not excellent potters sadly.
