Easy cheap grid option is back of a roll of wrapping paper. They often have one inch grids to help cut. Highlight lines with a Sharpie, maybe glue to basic poster board. All available in dollar stores.
I feel that people often see ttrpgs as super expensive but they can be cheap/low cost. It's great that you gave a concise and effective video discussing what you need! It's greatly appreciated.
Wal-Mart now sells basic RPG dice sets. They also have a little dice tower that comes with a set. Very affordable. The official D&D starter set is cheap there too.
Thank you for making these videos. I've been playing rpgs since the 90s, and it all still intimidates me, especially with all the minis my kids can print, the systems they've played, and whatnot. I feel like they left me behind, but seeing you kick ass with the basics reminds me that it's my own insecurities that wad me up and make my games such a mess. I've run some amazing sessions, and the joy you're showing reminds me how much fun it is to clothe dice rolls with words.

Loved the story about the homemade college grid 💜
Really solid list, definitely helps lower the barrier to entry!

For D&D, you could probably get away with the free Basic rules even. For Call of Cthulhu, the Quickstart could keep you going for a good while.
Great video! 😊
You need a erasure too... Lol, great video.
DnD has the SRD for free and Cyberpunk Red has the Easy Rules for free!
