I'm not sure about your take on Ho Fang being short with the investigators. I'm from Hong Kong and I can say their depiction of a Chinese business leader being very polite and welcoming even while wanting you dead is very accurate. It would be extremely poor form for a business leader in this region to show any lapse in decorum as it would reflect badly on them in regards to face and hospitality. I cannot relate the number of times I've been in meetings with CEOs who I knew were extremely pissed off but laid on the tea and politeness, only showing their dismay through written correspondence after. Now, lower level guys, they can be as arsey as can be (except when in the presence of the boss) because their focus is on not letting the boss down. But the boss has to appear as a magnanimous leader.
Another great video! Do you have any tips for how to get the investigators to meet Jack Brady? The scenario understandably depicts him as tough to find and wary with investigators, but it is also narratively necessary for them to find him and for him to infodump. How do you best square that circle?
There are a few ways to approach this, and I recommend leaning into whatever path your players seem to be investigating more thoroughly. We know Jack is staying with Mu Hsien (former museum curator). So one option is if players go to the museum for any reason, they should be directed to both Mr. Mu and Madam Lin. Both of these NPCs can point players to Jack. If players go to speak with Mr. Mu, it can be at his house. If investigators are upfront with him and Jack comes up in conversation, there can be hints and body language clues to show Mr. Mu knows more than he lets on related to Brady. This hopefully prompts investigators to watch his house or investigate more. Madam Lin knows Brady stole the Seven Cryptical Books, so she is motivated to help the investigators find him. Her group of private intelligence corps can supply information to point investigators in the right direction. If neither of these routes seems viable, using the New China faction is a great option. It’s very possible word of investigators gets back to the faction, and they want to know more. I recommend having investigators tailed by the faction. Once there is a path to New China, clues can be dropped related to Brady. I hope this helps and thank you for watching!
My players went in the following order - Peru - New York - England - China - Egypt - Kenya - Australia. The England to China decision remains one of the great mysteries of my life. I really enjoyed the China chapter, second favourite after England
And let's talk about Carl Stanford who is this guy where is he from has he got to do with anything what's the big wolf about his appearance here we're all tell you sports fans. Carl Stanford is the big bad cultist leader of the worldwide taker over attempt from the 19 20s known to Keepers as the shadows of yog soth. That he still alive here maybe a shock to investigators he thought they might have killed him and that particular campaign. But not a shock if the investigators are familiar with the resurrection spell. Also my investigators in that particular scenario or rather campaign actually stole the book on how to make a make box. Well the spell is make box and we originally misread it as a make box LOL. But it is as described essentially a gate. My investigator is also created a very small make box set that they called a mailbox. And they used it to transmit messages to a housekeeper at headquarters as well as passing Firearms back and forth without the sanity loss. Comes in handy and places like England where Firearms are confiscated if found upon entering the country.
