Me and my wife recently started playing with a friend who is more experienced. It’s really fun so far, it’s my first MMO, and I was blown away by the fact that things I do in my game are affecting the world for other players. It’s a lot of fun, and it sounds like I chose to start playing at a good time!
This video has made me finally give Wakfu a decent shot, as a long time Dofus player i am so excited to be returning to this world with perfect timing, HD update and fresh servers! It truly is my lucky day! thankyou!
I love Wakfu! Its the type of game that is perma-installed in my hard drive, I always go back to it from time to time, so passionate about it. I remember it being announced in 2006 and being so hyped about this new Dofus that would be free to play and BOY THE NEW CHARACTER DESIGNS, just love it.
I just started playing wakfu after years and found this video. I specifically liked the emphasis done on the ups and downs of the new tutorial and the break down done on the steam comments. I totally agree with 100% of this video.
So excited for this new server! I've been a fan of Wakfu ever since it launched about 10 years ago, I remember how the tutorial was completely different and explained the ecological system via two wolves NPCs, I kind of miss it haha. Born in Québec, I also have been able to enjoy the series in French which has been a plus for me, I can't wait to dive back into it and meet you all :)
I played back in beta yet unfortunately cannot remember how the tutorial worked. The newest one is the simplest, and hopefully most effective, yet yeah, it's a little too 'functional' for how much ambience Wakfu provides. 💖
I returned to Wakfu a pair of months ago, and i love how much it evolved, and how nice feels the new single account server. One of the things that made me leave the game, was how empty it felt after everyone started to say "sorry, my party is full by me and my other five me", something that happened in Dofus, which is... a thing because there you don't have alts, you have to create and boost at least 4 accounts... Now, i didn't even care to throw my progress (jobs, lvl, outfits, etc...) to start again, because it feels so fresh and fun, like playing again an RPG you like. And AS I KNOW, Ankama wants to rework Astrub, which make sense if you compare their mercenary quests with, for example, Amakna ones. And well, the old man roof you are supposed to break. Anyway, tutorial isn't the best for my personal taste. I think the "STOP THE GAME TO SHOW YOU PICTURES AND A LOT OF TEXT" isn't the best way to tell someone how to play. The tutorial design itself does a good work actually. And well, the combat tutorial it's... too rushed? most of things you learn there aren't necessary at all in the early game, so you will forget probabbly. They could use Gultar, or even the Rok island to get battle tips bit a bit. I think they could improve fishing and mining, because those jobs feels slow, and just ONE person gathering the same as you can make it disgusting. And... thats kinda all the bad things i can say the game without thinking much. The rest is pretty neat, and community is amazing. And just to bring balance, the things i most like about the game. Classes: they are UNIQUE, they have personality, and you can build them in more than a way, so even two persons with the same class can be totally different. Economy: Jobs are fun, i think most of my playtime i was just in my garden taking care of my trees. I love how most of the best equipment, the food to heal, and other tools were made you or another player, and you are selling or buiying all that in a players market. Make the worls feels very vivid. Combat: i like how well all is designed around dungeon and bosses, at least the ones i played (im lvl 147). I dont know how is the end game, but in Dofus something i started to dislike is how things like "you did a thing, YOUR WHOLE PARTY IS DEAD", or even, bosses without a single hint of how you can damage them, not to mentions all class must be ranged because even tanks are dead in front of a boss. And well.. i heard this wasn't fixed, but i really don't know, i dont play since 2017. Anyway... even with a CONSIDERABLE smaller community, this game is for me, the perfect modernization of Dofus. And god, sorry for the long bible, and if are some mistakes in writing. its ... a thing talking in english about a game where almost everything have a different name in each language.

I played back in the beta and shortly after and really enjoyed the game! I have a level 100-ish Cra on one of the servers, but I'll definitely be trying it out with a fresh start on the new server later this week! I'm so excited now! I updated while watching your video lol
i came back because i wanted to rewatch the video to get a better understanding of what i wanted to get into. we had a small interaction on reddit of u commenting one of my posts. been playing wakfu for a good bit and taking it slow trying to take everything in and so far everyone seems really cool and easy to understand coming from a new players perspective. i feel that it could be confusing for new players to both the mmorpg and strategy genres, but is still at the very least good to understand with its revamped tutorial. hope so see and meet new players in the future when i need to in order to progress even more because as of right now im enjoying the solo gameplay
As someone who didn't really get into the game a few years ago, I am glad to return to give it a second shot, I had just gotten past both questline continuity errors before getting off, it did feel weird but your vid did help understand that it at least a known issue. Lots of the game overall seems fresh and new so I look forward to seeing what this world has to offer!
I've been playing this game on and off and watching it evolve over the years. I got hyped when Ankama said they were making a new MMORPG like Dofus with better graphics. When I got the chance to play the game even in the earlier versions I got hooked but friends slowly but surely stopped playing both Dofus and Wakfu and ended up having nobody to play with. I still remember the old Incarnam with 2 wolves, 1 planting infinite gobballs while the other eats them. The game is still very enjoyable to this day.
Ah man I got really into Wakfu back in 2016 and got REALLY into the anime at the time. Can't believe I forgot about this gem! So happy this video showed up in my recommended!
Back then I played Wakfu and Dofus but it is over a decade when I did. I am so glad that a new international server is opening with new opportunities and even an HD upgrade. I think I was never that much excited about re-playing a game. Thanks for the video and for the giveaway. I will definitely play the game again and will sink in a lot of time.
Aw man I could talk about Wakfu for ages. If I had to condense it, the thing I love about the game is just it's immaculate charm and vibes. The songs played in my head despite not having visited the game in years, and I kept longing for another MMO where I could just spend ages picking flowers and crafting herbal concoctions (New World doesn't match the vibes, sadly). I've been enamored by the animation productions Ankama's made over the years, and I can see much of that love back in the little details in Wakfu; emotes, idle animations, secrets tucked away behind hidden passageways. It's not quite 'indie animation' anymore, but there being funding and passion behind their work still to this day is pretty great to see. It's hard to convince my friends to play this one, and I appreciate the work you've put in to create content for the English community. The leveling process is a bit daunting and the nation story ends a bit too quickly to keep players hooked. I think it takes a certain player to start and see the game for what it is beyond just 'French OSRS'. Inevitably much of my time this week will be spent tinkering with the UI pixmaps as I want to put my own spin on it. If I'm being honest, it'll never be finished, but being able to make some elements transparent and easier on the eyes will be enough for me. I hope to see some of you walking around while we're soaking in the ambience!
Wakfu gives off a vibe of dedicated devs who love comedy, artistic flair and strategic thinking. Signed up for the new server a while ago and hoping that being in AUS ill still be able to find ppl to fight Moogrrs with playing on similar timezones! Crafting is very lucrative so dont sleep on it
Started with Dofus now checking wakfu after 8 years without playing, i still remember the beta when we all were fighting at sadida kingdom, fun times. With the new servers i hope to find that nostalgic feeling years ago , they did a lot of improvements and contents overs the years , even if he didnt get as much love as Dofus , its getting some now and that makes me happy. Wakfu really deserve it, i just hope all this people coming in wont put too much presure on the devs and they start just putting random content so they keep the community busy. Great video aswell , wakfu lacks a lot of videos around it so hope to see a lot of content creators give it some love aswell❤
Returning player who has never really played too far in the game (lvl 100ish). Excited to give this server a try. I like the concept of going back to one character played at a time. I've been turned away due to needing mulitple sidekicks, heroes, and what not to finish content.
I love the idea of a fresh solo server account just seen this today and always wanted to come back and try all the updates to wakfu but can’t wait to start now, hope we can play sometime homie great video!
i loved the wakfu show and its definitely one of the most memorable cartoons of my earlier days. but i didn't stay playing wakfu for long, even though i thought it was fun. ill definitely be trying it again. seems like the devs are making major strides in improvement and im here for it
I just stumbled across this and I am in love with the quality of this video. it has definitely made a subscriber out of me!! Now I know that this might be a very generic answer but it is because it is true - I LOVE the turn based strategy combat of Wakfu. As someone who has been an avid enjoyer of MMO's for over a decade. wakfu is a a shining beacon in a sea of tab based action MMO's and not only that but they manage to add an extra flare to the typical turn based strategy formula, which I personally feel is in large tribute as well to the art of waku. Additionally, something that I feel wakfu is able to execute that most mmo's struggle with is for it to have a fully run community based economy - I am crazy about this idea and the fact that wakfu execute it as well as they do is incredible. I hope to be able to support Ankama and all their projects for many years to come.
I remember playing this game about 10 years ago and really liking it back then. I showed the game to my friends at the time, and none of them would join me, so I ended up dropping the game. Recently found out that the game is still alive, and decided to give it another shot. I managed to drag a few friends into it this time, and it has been an absolute blast. As someone that loves the type of combat in Wakfu (the grid, turned based thing), I genuinely think it's one of, if not, the best of that style. The incredible depth to not only each of the classes and the ways they can be played, but also each different type of enemy and dungeon having unique mechanics (some of which are annoying) makes the game both challenging and very fun. That combined with the MMO aspects and the community make Wakfu pretty close to my ideal game. On another note, thank you for this video. It does a much better job of articulating what makes this game great than I ever could. I will be using it to try to interest some of my other friends to join the new server.
Played Dofus many years ago and now I play Wakfu with my Wife. We just started recently - both our characters are around level 30. We are so excited to continue exploring the universe, collecting sweet gear, and decking out our Haven bags! Thank you for being one of the few Wakfu UA-camrs and doing making such amazing videos. i suggest you try the new mono server, because with current server, you will not past 100+ content due to lack of players to do progression unless you do multibox

After 10 years, I was finally convinced to start wakfu seriously, at least until Dofus Unity is done, I'll be a Wakfu player! HD enabled, new tutorial, monoaccount server... yep! Perfect combo.

Wakfu initially garnered my attention through its stylish and beautiful art style! I would play the game off and on since it's release but never did a full dive due to feeling lost or behind compared to the rest of the community. As someone who plays nearly every PoE league, I absolutely love the idea of a fresh start with the release of this new server and can't wait to play when the 2nd rolls around. Helps that I'll have a friend to guide me through the mid and late game (he has a couple maxed out characters on Rubilax) 😂
My sister and i have been playing again after not playing for a few years. Remember the old tutorial, learning my class, and running around harvesting stuff for no reason. I was new to mmos and got lost in what i was supposed to be doing and how most of the game functioned. But my sister really wants to try playing again, so i hopped back on. Made a new character and started over, sure its gonna be a struggle to relearn everything but at least i aim to have fun with my sister.
Awesome Video, I love this game I use to play it like crazy many years ago but then fell off when my friends stopped playing, we are all now excited to get back in to the game for this new server, so much has changed it feels like an entire different game now, however love the tactical battle system its so unique!!!
Been playing Wakfu back and for since release. It always had a room in my heart, there's something about this game that makes you feel confortable, perhaps is the ost? Back then my cousin who never was interested in this type of games joined Wakfu "just to see" and ended playing more than me! It's been a while since I played the game for the last time, probably two years, I heard about the mono-account server a couple of days ago and I got so hyped up! I'll play as a Osamodas, I want to see what changed with the class and the whole game in general since the last time I played.

Surprised i was not subscribed since i enjoyed your what went wrong with mmos video, i will be fixing that :) I grew up with Dofus but I was honestly too young and english being my 3rd language and not knowing any french made it so i never got that far in it. But when Wakfu came out i was probably the best age to start playing. I always loved Wakfu but never had anyone to play it with since all my friends are only interested in shooters and was too shy to talk to strangers so i just got as far as you could as a solo. I have tried getting back into Wakfu many times now that i am less shy and it has been too hard to find people to play with in game since there were so many just playing with themselves, literally lol. And I am not really a fan of the companion hero system. I played Waven when it came out and Waven is great but not an MMO and is still missing a lot of classes. Then i heard of this new server and have been so hyped to give Wakfu another try, watched all the shows and movies in preparation(except Lance Dur since i cant find anywhere to watch it sadly)
honestly, wakfu is one of the only games that i always end up coming back to, the balance between the combat, professions, classes and art style is just so well done. the only thing i've been missing this whole time was friends to do content with, but with the mono account server i hope that will change! im just glad i found an mmo for people who like to think, since i usually like to think of all the options in combat instead of mashing my main spell key.
same, but ever since they merge the server with the Spanish, i quit since i don't really got any progression anymore after 270+ as a player without multibox, it's impossible to even SK to progress, and even if you are a sub, you are "forced" to play 2 account to get all full team to progress in higher level dungeons. Because of that, i gave up, even though it's been my favorite MMO since 2012
Finally, an English review. We need more people hoping on to Wakfu. I'm going to make my return once the server is up. I had played this game for a while now and was happy to see the return of human Foggernaut. So, I encourage more people to try this game out. I can't see to see the HD update.
Definitely going to download the new server. I played this back during launch and was a founder of sufokation, a big guild in sufokia. I was under the mistaken impression the player base was gone. I am glad I am wrong.
I just tried picking up the game but there was nobody to help out at all so I was gonna quit again but the introduction of the single server seems promising and ill have to start again. Excited to see whats to come
Hey man! Really nice video, clear segments and always appreciate people that love what ankama makes. I am a dofus veteran that has never played wakfu before! I have played dofus on and off for years and was a big achievement hunter together with some friends. I also loved the little references to all sorts of pop culture (You know that scarecrow that looks like the ghibli one?) The only thing missing in the video for me is why pick wakfu over dofus :) I would be very curious to know why i should give this a try instead of a single account dofus server. Im probably too late for the give away but yeah, thumbs up man, cool video!
My first day of playing Wakfu and so far I am dawn in by the charm, the design and the overall combat. It seems simple at first but the more I play the more I learn the combat and all its quirks it's oddly strategic one must say. I also adore the character's a lot and the classes are also very unique. I spend 2 hours deciding what Class i would even want since there were so many fun choices. Each class comes with their own interessting race and lore behind said race as well which gives me a deeper connection to that class and people of the same culture ingame be it NPCs or other players. All in all I have enjoyed the game so far and will definetly continue pushing further and making friends along the way! ON A SIDE NOTE: I have been looking for a good site to watch wakfu on but netflix always only had the terrible english dub...so having a launcher that also works as a streaming service for the series is fricking awesome and overall the Launcher has to be one of the best designed launchers I have ever seen!
Enjoyed watching your video. I recently discovered the Wakfu anime show on my recommended shows on Netflix and then came across your channel. I've downloaded the game and so far made a Sram character on the Rubilax server. The Lore is indeed mesmerizing in terms of the depth and I cannot wait to try out the game with the new economy and influx of players on the Ogrest server in the upcoming days. I am a completely new player but the community in the first town was very kind towards teaching me some of the mechanics. Hoping to win one of your giveaway packs so that I can start my journey early on the new Ogrest server and experience the game with some friends who I can recruit into the party play. -Cheers
I love the graphics and how the whole game as a beautiful hand-drawn artstyle. The turn based gameplay is also quite unique. One constructive criticism is how hard it can be to figure some quests out, like how much time I have spent trying to find the three frescos in Rii
If it helps, theres the quest compass for 99% of quests that point you towards the objective. The other 1% that is hidden is 100% a part of the experience. Enjoy the challenge and overcome. Its a blast when you figure out the puzzles!
@MarleMMO That and the Bwork Disease and you have to find the Bwork artifacts past the floor puzzle only to realize that to solve the puzzle you do have to move (this part of the message was deleted to prevent spoilers.) Hahaha.
Ohhhh noooooh, servers are already live but poor me is still gated outside. I never tought this day would come, but FOMO hit me hard. :D I wonder if you would be interested in streaming some Wakfu content on your youtube channel Marle, which could be later turned into let's play content? That would be really neat to see you go from zero to hero on the new server! Also if it's a stream, it would bring people together for grouping up for different activities! :)
I'm so excited to come back to playing wakfu after so long. I played in asia server for a long time before the merge and the playerbase shrunk as time progressed. The server merge gave me new inspiration to play the game again but it slowly windled out. I'm going to try Ouginak this time in the new server
I already told my stories on the original upload but I'll make another comment here to boost the youtube metrics, so more people will see the video recommended and come to join us on a Wakfu adventure! :) I'm just glad that the video is here again so I can share it to my mates still wondering if they should join the mono server and what the game is all about. I already downloaded the game from the link and wondered around a bit, better not play too much before the actual release of a new server! ;) Combat is great, the world seems player driven and the dungeons very interesting, but for me the biggest reason to pick up Wakfu is the community you have or build during the adventures together. The more "modern" MMO games have lost their social element pretty much totally with instant* queue mechanics and everything being so easy to access with a click of a button. However Wakfu has no dungeon finders or queues to content, which encourages you to talk to people, explore the world together and hang out. No better feeling making new friends along your adventures and helping each other out! You basically can play with a friend on the already exsisting servers, but doing things as a 2 man multibox group is no where near the experience of having a lot of friends wondering around the new world together on a single character server. Like I said last time, keep up the good work MarleMMO and good luck to everyone joining the raffle! May the luck be in your favour! ps. I just started playing wakfu and waven about a month ago, sparingly as it is right now due to college, but I have made it my new hyper fixation. I have watch both Wakfu and the Dofus movie along with the little side movies. I have to say i have enjoyed my time. I am still in the tutorial area but its very entertaining unlike most games that either bore you to death with jargon or babysit you to the point of boredem. Ive died a bunch to larva, tofu and gobballs and have yet to find a group to wander with me. funny enough i have been using the steam version and it worked out well.
With mmorpg games becoming more and more advanced, theres a certain charm they lose. Wakfu is definitely unique and has that certain charm. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but it feels nostalgic and new at the same time. I've never seen an MMORPG turn based game before and especially nothing thats at this level of quality. This is like a MMORPG / online board game / DND. really interesting game! Loved the video, thank you and really nice job explaining and editing!
Gave this a try since I haven't played in 6+ years. It's been nice to see a lot of QOL features added to the game and loving the monoserver since I really felt that multiboxing was a sliperry slope that pushed all of us not using alts away from the game. My only wish is that they reintroduced a party finder system. Especially now with players having to make full teams of real people, being able to connect and group up with strangers should be made as easy as possible.
Played wakfu since 2012, just after Square Enix took over, i have seen bad and good days, but lately Wakfu is probably at its best version. The game is quite good and appealing, HD update makes the game look so good and the classes are overall nearly balanced.
This video is a good explination of the game. I got back into it and think that this video does a good job making me wanna play it again. So I did, now to figure out what class I wanna be lol. Osa demon mode seems fun, but there so little english guides lol. Anyway go download and play it today. Thanks for getting me back into it.
Here is some random information about wakfu classes: Iop are the three closest keys on your keyboard to the enter key. Simple and to the point like its playstyle! Cra is Arc (Bow in french) reversed. Ecaflip backwards is Pilface (a.k.a HeadsOrTails in french) Enutrof is Fortune backwards. Eniripsa is Aspirine backwards (Aspirin pill in french) Osamodas backwards is Sadomaso (BDSM, whips, control...) Pandawas act like Jedi and... Padawans! Xelor backwards is Rolex (Watch... Time) Sadida is Adidas backwards (Class that likes fashion) Zobal comes from a song "Au bal masqué" which sounds like it says: "Zobal masqué" or "Masked Zobal" in english. Sacrier roughly translates to: ItYellsALot-er
Me and a friend began our journey through the game recently, with us playing around 7 hours into the game so far and reaching around level 17 so far. We've started working towards building our characters up with her being a Cra and me being a Ouginak. In the beginning receiving quest are fun but they just stopped appearing overall, so we do the mercenary posts. We don't know where to receive them and we keep getting slammed at the Royal Tofu fight. Her character is rather fragile in close-quarters and while I can survive a majority of the attacks, the Royal Tofu just two-three shot us with his abilities. We stopped trying to fight him and tried crafting equipment, but everything requires Super-Glou, which the game just doesn't explain how to get. It can't be crafted and only gained by defeating the higher-level enemies, which stated can't be defeated rn. Plus, I spend a bit harvesting food and drink items to use but they can't be used at all even at the level we are at. I don't see a point in the food items atm when they can only be used outside combat besides the speedrunning section of the dungeon (Where higher-level players try to see how fast they can complete the dungeon.) I was wondering if we are doing something wrong, we are both stuck. And a majority of the content seems locked behind just leveling up, which besides grinding professions (Which I got LVL 35 Farmer already due to being stuck.) and / or can't craft anything due to the rare resources required to even craft a Gobball / Larva armour sets to help us, and the equippable weapons don't seem worth investing in at all due to their AP cost instead of using skills. Plus, we been doing the game solo (No party members) and no boosters as well. We are slowly starting to get tired of the endless drought of content we can do atm. Plus, it doesn't help that the Halloween events + Orgest cultists + Betting the Christmas events next just appear which just covers the screen when non-sense clutter. I really enjoy playing but it gotten really tiring to just advance at all. And it isn't because I dislike and can't play turn-based games; I play a lot of Fire Emblem and have experience with old TRPG in the past; but it just causes a lot of frustration when even though I try looking for help from guides or old forum posts, it just either outdated or just isn't true. I just wish things were made easier on new players even with the in-game Guide and the New Tutorial. I remember spending about 300 karmas on Barley seeds due to none being available at all around the starting area and getting enough seeds to make my money back, I logged out and came back to all three plots I planted then on completely emptied (Which I was expecting but still a bit rude.) Again, I enjoy the game due to the art style and style of combat, I just find it frustrating to keep going even if we are about to continue the main quest soon at Level 21.
All valid points! The dungeons are designed to be beaten with more than two people, so try teaming up with others! They're so much fun and very rewarding. Also, consider joining a guild. Not only will the bonuses help you in combat yet others may help you too. 🥰
I wanted to join Wakfu mono server with my kids, who watch the show on Netflix. Come to find out you can only have 2 people per household/IP. Debating joining a multi account server as one of the reasons I wanted to play was to also play with them.
Not sure its too late😅 saw this video when a friend told me about the mono sever but never actually watched it as wasnt sure i had the time to get into a brand new game! Dofus is that happy place i keep coming back to and around covid time got back to their mono server and made a great set of friends there ... Unfortunately we subsequently went our separate ways but not turns out the squad is back together on wakfu so i picked it up for the first time and am completely hooked 😂 While i love the community aspect first and foremost and getting back in touch with friends im really loving the maging system (maybe surprisingly) and tokens / daily system which has really got me more engaged in the world. Havent looked into politics etc but love the idea in concept at least
Played the game lastly in like 4 years ago, been playing it since the launch (Yeah I was one of the Ecosystem destroyers/saviors? of the good ol' days), been enjoying this new server "1 character", idk if it is because the updates in the last few years but it is really fun (or was it cuz I had to play controlling 3+ characters at the same time...), the game is really fun rn if you know how to progress.
@@MarleMMO Yeah! Two days playing it only got to lvl 55, saw some ppl at lvl 200 already, I need to do watch some more vids to do some catch up with the game (Didn't even know about the existence of smthin like Dimensional Rifts until like 6 hours ago)
i never managed to fully experience the game cause the lack of friends/people to play with, hopefully with this new server i can experience the game like it was supposed to be

i have never played wakfu, due to assuming that it was a "hero" style mmo, and i feel like i've done myself a disservice by not playing it for all these years. this game feels tailor made for me in every single way! like straight up THIS is the mmo ive always wanted to exist??? and is has this entire time???
Unfortunately I lost my ultra detailed comment from last video but in summary I would say y that the game is great, you need to bear with it for the start since it can be a steep learning curve depending on the class you choose and until about 1/3 of your levels you are not going to really experience the true mechanics of the classes. But if you invest a little tume in it, the game will reward you.
I played Dofus with 8 accounts back in 2010-2015 and looking to return to new Dofus Unity coming next year or start anew in Wakfu. I’m planning to start on a new mono server on Dofus as well but I was thinking of funding my subscription with my old account’s kamas. How similar/different would you say the two games are? Also which has more active international community?
I unfortunately cannot comment on the differences of the games as my exposure has mostly been to Wakfu. However, based on the little I know, Dofus is of a traditional MMORPG whereas Wakfu leans into sandbox features. In terms of international players, I very frequently play with non-US speakers in Wakfu. I believe Dofus is more popular than Wakfu, so it would not surprise me if their international community is even more robust, although I speculate. 💖

impossible to get into this game. new player experience is horrid and the devs do nothing to make it better and never have. every update is only catered to the max lvl players no thought towards getting new player into game of keeping them in it

It’s really fun so far, it’s my first MMO, and I was blown away by the fact that things I do in my game are affecting the world for other players. I love Wakfu! Its the type of game that is perma-installed in my hard drive, I always go back to it from time to time, so passionate about it. I remember it being announced in 2006 and being so hyped about this new Dofus that would be free to play and BOY THE NEW CHARACTER DESIGNS, just love it.

So excited for this new server! I've been a fan of Wakfu ever since it launched about 10 years ago, I remember how the tutorial was completely different and explained the ecological system via two wolves NPCs, I kind of miss it haha. Born in Québec, I also have been able to enjoy the series in French which has been a plus for me, I can't wait to dive back into it and meet you all :)
I played back in beta yet unfortunately cannot remember how the tutorial worked. The newest one is the simplest, and hopefully most effective, yet yeah, it's a little too 'functional' for how much ambience Wakfu provides. 💖
I returned to Wakfu a pair of months ago, and i love how much it evolved, and how nice feels the new single account server. One of the things that made me leave the game, was how empty it felt after everyone started to say "sorry, my party is full by me and my other five me", something that happened in Dofus, which is... a thing because there you don't have alts, you have to create and boost at least 4 accounts...
Now, i didn't even care to throw my progress (jobs, lvl, outfits, etc...) to start again, because it feels so fresh and fun, like playing again an RPG you like. And AS I KNOW, Ankama wants to rework Astrub, which make sense if you compare their mercenary quests with, for example, Amakna ones. And well, the old man roof you are supposed to break.
Anyway, tutorial isn't the best for my personal taste. I think the "STOP THE GAME TO SHOW YOU PICTURES AND A LOT OF TEXT" isn't the best way to tell someone how to play. The tutorial design itself does a good work actually. And well, the combat tutorial it's... too rushed? most of things you learn there aren't necessary at all in the early game, so you will forget probabbly. They could use Gultar, or even the Rok island to get battle tips bit a bit.
I think they could improve fishing and mining, because those jobs feels slow, and just ONE person gathering the same as you can make it disgusting. And... thats kinda all the bad things i can say the game without thinking much. The rest is pretty neat, and community is amazing.
And just to bring balance, the things i most like about the game.
Classes: they are UNIQUE, they have personality, and you can build them in more than a way, so even two persons with the same class can be totally different.
Economy: Jobs are fun, i think most of my playtime i was just in my garden taking care of my trees. I love how most of the best equipment, the food to heal, and other tools were made you or another player, and you are selling or buiying all that in a players market. Make the worls feels very vivid.
Combat: i like how well all is designed around dungeon and bosses, at least the ones i played (im lvl 147). I dont know how is the end game, but in Dofus something i started to dislike is how things like "you did a thing, YOUR WHOLE PARTY IS DEAD", or even, bosses without a single hint of how you can damage them, not to mentions all class must be ranged because even tanks are dead in front of a boss. And well.. i heard this wasn't fixed, but i really don't know, i dont play since 2017. Anyway... even with a CONSIDERABLE smaller community, this game is for me, the perfect modernization of Dofus.
And god, sorry for the long bible, and if are some mistakes in writing. its ... a thing talking in english about a game where almost everything have a different name in each language.

i came back because i wanted to rewatch the video to get a better understanding of what i wanted to get into. we had a small interaction on reddit of u commenting one of my posts. been playing wakfu for a good bit and taking it slow trying to take everything in and so far everyone seems really cool and easy to understand coming from a new players perspective.
i feel that it could be confusing for new players to both the mmorpg and strategy genres, but is still at the very least good to understand with its revamped tutorial. hope so see and meet new players in the future when i need to in order to progress even more because as of right now im enjoying the solo gameplay

As someone who didn't really get into the game a few years ago, I am glad to return to give it a second shot, I had just gotten past both questline continuity errors before getting off, it did feel weird but your vid did help understand that it at least a known issue. Lots of the game overall seems fresh and new so I look forward to seeing what this world has to offer!

I've been playing this game on and off and watching it evolve over the years.
I got hyped when Ankama said they were making a new MMORPG like Dofus with better graphics.
When I got the chance to play the game even in the earlier versions I got hooked but friends slowly but surely stopped playing both Dofus and Wakfu and ended up having nobody to play with. I still remember the old Incarnam with 2 wolves, 1 planting infinite gobballs while the other eats them.
The game is still very enjoyable to this day.

Aw man I could talk about Wakfu for ages. If I had to condense it, the thing I love about the game is just it's immaculate charm and vibes. The songs played in my head despite not having visited the game in years, and I kept longing for another MMO where I could just spend ages picking flowers and crafting herbal concoctions (New World doesn't match the vibes, sadly).
I've been enamored by the animation productions Ankama's made over the years, and I can see much of that love back in the little details in Wakfu; emotes, idle animations, secrets tucked away behind hidden passageways. It's not quite 'indie animation' anymore, but there being funding and passion behind their work still to this day is pretty great to see.
It's hard to convince my friends to play this one, and I appreciate the work you've put in to create content for the English community. The leveling process is a bit daunting and the nation story ends a bit too quickly to keep players hooked. I think it takes a certain player to start and see the game for what it is beyond just 'French OSRS'.
Inevitably much of my time this week will be spent tinkering with the UI pixmaps as I want to put my own spin on it. If I'm being honest, it'll never be finished, but being able to make some elements transparent and easier on the eyes will be enough for me. I hope to see some of you walking around while we're soaking in the ambience!

Started with Dofus now checking wakfu after 8 years without playing, i still remember the beta when we all were fighting at sadida kingdom, fun times. With the new servers i hope to find that nostalgic feeling years ago , they did a lot of improvements and contents overs the years , even if he didnt get as much love as Dofus , its getting some now and that makes me happy. Wakfu really deserve it, i just hope all this people coming in wont put too much presure on the devs and they start just putting random content so they keep the community busy.

I just stumbled across this and I am in love with the quality of this video. it has definitely made a subscriber out of me!! Now I know that this might be a very generic answer but it is because it is true - I LOVE the turn based strategy combat of Wakfu. As someone who has been an avid enjoyer of MMO's for over a decade. wakfu is a a shining beacon in a sea of tab based action MMO's and not only that but they manage to add an extra flare to the typical turn based strategy formula, which I personally feel is in large tribute as well to the art of waku. Additionally, something that I feel wakfu is able to execute that most mmo's struggle with is for it to have a fully run community based economy - I am crazy about this idea and the fact that wakfu execute it as well as they do is incredible. I hope to be able to support Ankama and all their projects for many years to come.

I remember playing this game about 10 years ago and really liking it back then. I showed the game to my friends at the time, and none of them would join me, so I ended up dropping the game. Recently found out that the game is still alive, and decided to give it another shot. I managed to drag a few friends into it this time, and it has been an absolute blast. As someone that loves the type of combat in Wakfu (the grid, turned based thing), I genuinely think it's one of, if not, the best of that style. The incredible depth to not only each of the classes and the ways they can be played, but also each different type of enemy and dungeon having unique mechanics (some of which are annoying) makes the game both challenging and very fun. That combined with the MMO aspects and the community make Wakfu pretty close to my ideal game.
On another note, thank you for this video. It does a much better job of articulating what makes this game great than I ever could. I will be using it to try to interest some of my other friends to join the new server.

Wakfu initially garnered my attention through its stylish and beautiful art style! I would play the game off and on since it's release but never did a full dive due to feeling lost or behind compared to the rest of the community. As someone who plays nearly every PoE league, I absolutely love the idea of a fresh start with the release of this new server and can't wait to play when the 2nd rolls around. Helps that I'll have a friend to guide me through the mid and late game (he has a couple maxed out characters on Rubilax) 😂

My sister and i have been playing again after not playing for a few years. Remember the old tutorial, learning my class, and running around harvesting stuff for no reason. I was new to mmos and got lost in what i was supposed to be doing and how most of the game functioned. But my sister really wants to try playing again, so i hopped back on. Made a new character and started over, sure its gonna be a struggle to relearn everything but at least i aim to have fun with my sister.

I grew up with Dofus but I was honestly too young and english being my 3rd language and not knowing any french made it so i never got that far in it. But when Wakfu came out i was probably the best age to start playing. I always loved Wakfu but never had anyone to play it with since all my friends are only interested in shooters and was too shy to talk to strangers so i just got as far as you could as a solo. I have tried getting back into Wakfu many times now that i am less shy and it has been too hard to find people to play with in game since there were so many just playing with themselves, literally lol. And I am not really a fan of the companion hero system.
I played Waven when it came out and Waven is great but not an MMO and is still missing a lot of classes.
Then i heard of this new server and have been so hyped to give Wakfu another try, watched all the shows and movies in preparation(except Lance Dur since i cant find anywhere to watch it sadly)

honestly, wakfu is one of the only games that i always end up coming back to, the balance between the combat, professions, classes and art style is just so well done. the only thing i've been missing this whole time was friends to do content with, but with the mono account server i hope that will change! im just glad i found an mmo for people who like to think, since i usually like to think of all the options in combat instead of mashing my main spell key.

same, but ever since they merge the server with the Spanish, i quit since i don't really got any progression anymore after 270+ as a player without multibox, it's impossible to even SK to progress, and even if you are a sub, you are "forced" to play 2 account to get all full team to progress in higher level dungeons.
Because of that, i gave up, even though it's been my favorite MMO since 2012

Hey man! Really nice video, clear segments and always appreciate people that love what ankama makes. I am a dofus veteran that has never played wakfu before! I have played dofus on and off for years and was a big achievement hunter together with some friends. I also loved the little references to all sorts of pop culture (You know that scarecrow that looks like the ghibli one?) The only thing missing in the video for me is why pick wakfu over dofus :) I would be very curious to know why i should give this a try instead of a single account dofus server. My first day of playing Wakfu and so far I am dawn in by the charm, the design and the overall combat. It seems simple at first but the more I play the more I learn the combat and all its quirks it's oddly strategic one must say.
I also adore the character's a lot and the classes are also very unique. I spend 2 hours deciding what Class i would even want since there were so many fun choices.
Each class comes with their own interessting race and lore behind said race as well which gives me a deeper connection to that class and people of the same culture ingame be it NPCs or other players.
All in all I have enjoyed the game so far and will definetly continue pushing further and making friends along the way!
ON A SIDE NOTE:
I have been looking for a good site to watch wakfu on but netflix always only had the terrible english dub...so having a launcher that also works as a streaming service for the series is fricking awesome and overall the Launcher has to be one of the best designed launchers I have ever seen!

Enjoyed watching your video. I recently discovered the Wakfu anime show on my recommended shows on Netflix and then came across your channel.
I've downloaded the game and so far made a Sram character on the Rubilax server. The Lore is indeed mesmerizing in terms of the depth and I cannot wait to try out the game with the new economy and influx of players on the Ogrest server in the upcoming days. I am a completely new player but the community in the first town was very kind towards teaching me some of the mechanics. Hoping to win one of your giveaway packs so that I can start my journey early on the new Ogrest server and experience the game with some friends who I can recruit into the party play.

I love the graphics and how the whole game as a beautiful hand-drawn artstyle. The turn based gameplay is also quite unique. One constructive criticism is how hard it can be to figure some quests out, like how much time I have spent trying to find the three frescos in Rii
Some of the quests are tricky! 🥰
If it helps, theres the quest compass for 99% of quests that point you towards the objective.
The other 1% that is hidden is 100% a part of the experience. Enjoy the challenge and overcome. Its a blast when you figure out the puzzles!

I already told my stories on the original upload but I'll make another comment here to boost the youtube metrics, so more people will see the video recommended and come to join us on a Wakfu adventure! :) I'm just glad that the video is here again so I can share it to my mates still wondering if they should join the mono server and what the game is all about. I already downloaded the game from the link and wondered around a bit, better not play too much before the actual release of a new server! ;)
Combat is great, the world seems player driven and the dungeons very interesting, but for me the biggest reason to pick up Wakfu is the community you have or build during the adventures together. The more "modern" MMO games have lost their social element pretty much totally with instant* queue mechanics and everything being so easy to access with a click of a button.
However Wakfu has no dungeon finders or queues to content, which encourages you to talk to people, explore the world together and hang out. No better feeling making new friends along your adventures and helping each other out! You basically can play with a friend on the already exsisting servers, but doing things as a 2 man multibox group is no where near the experience of having a lot of friends wondering around the new world together on a single character server.

I just started playing wakfu and waven about a month ago, sparingly as it is right now due to college, but I have made it my new hyper fixation. I have watch both Wakfu and the Dofus movie along with the little side movies. I have to say i have enjoyed my time. I am still in the tutorial area but its very entertaining unlike most games that either bore you to death with jargon or babysit you to the point of boredem. Ive died a bunch to larva, tofu and gobballs and have yet to find a group to wander with me. funny enough i have been using the steam version and it worked out well.

With mmorpg games becoming more and more advanced, theres a certain charm they lose. Wakfu is definitely unique and has that certain charm. I'm not exactly sure what it is, but it feels nostalgic and new at the same time. I've never seen an MMORPG turn based game before and especially nothing thats at this level of quality. This is like a MMORPG / online board game / DND. really interesting game! Loved the video, thank you and really nice job explaining and editing!

Gave this a try since I haven't played in 6+ years. It's been nice to see a lot of QOL features added to the game and loving the monoserver since I really felt that multiboxing was a sliperry slope that pushed all of us not using alts away from the game.
My only wish is that they reintroduced a party finder system. Especially now with players having to make full teams of real people, being able to connect and group up with strangers should be made as easy as possible.

Played wakfu since 2012, just after Square Enix took over, i have seen bad and good days, but lately Wakfu is probably at its best version. The game is quite good and appealing, HD update makes the game look so good and the classes are overall nearly balanced.

Here is some random information about wakfu classes:
Iop are the three closest keys on your keyboard to the enter key. Simple and to the point like its playstyle!
Cra is Arc (Bow in french) reversed.
Ecaflip backwards is Pilface (a.k.a HeadsOrTails in french)
Enutrof is Fortune backwards.
Eniripsa is Aspirine backwards (Aspirin pill in french)
Osamodas backwards is Sadomaso (BDSM, whips, control...)
Pandawas act like Jedi and... Padawans!
Xelor backwards is Rolex (Watch... Time)
Sadida is Adidas backwards (Class that likes fashion)
Zobal comes from a song "Au bal masqué" which sounds like it says:
"Zobal masqué" or "Masked Zobal" in english.
Sacrier roughly translates to: ItYellsALot-er

Me and a friend began our journey through the game recently, with us playing around 7 hours into the game so far and reaching around level 17 so far. We've started working towards building our characters up with her being a Cra and me being a Ouginak. In the beginning receiving quest are fun but they just stopped appearing overall, so we do the mercenary posts. We don't know where to receive them and we keep getting slammed at the Royal Tofu fight. Her character is rather fragile in close-quarters and while I can survive a majority of the attacks, the Royal Tofu just two-three shot us with his abilities. We stopped trying to fight him and tried crafting equipment, but everything requires Super-Glou, which the game just doesn't explain how to get. It can't be crafted and only gained by defeating the higher-level enemies, which stated can't be defeated rn. Plus, I spend a bit harvesting food and drink items to use but they can't be used at all even at the level we are at. I don't see a point in the food items atm when they can only be used outside combat besides the speedrunning section of the dungeon (Where higher-level players try to see how fast they can complete the dungeon.)
I was wondering if we are doing something wrong, we are both stuck. And a majority of the content seems locked behind just leveling up, which besides grinding professions (Which I got LVL 35 Farmer already due to being stuck.) and / or can't craft anything due to the rare resources required to even craft a Gobball / Larva armour sets to help us, and the equippable weapons don't seem worth investing in at all due to their AP cost instead of using skills. Plus, we been doing the game solo (No party members) and no boosters as well. We are slowly starting to get tired of the endless drought of content we can do atm. Plus, it doesn't help that the Halloween events + Orgest cultists + Betting the Christmas events next just appear which just covers the screen when non-sense clutter. I really enjoy playing but it gotten really tiring to just advance at all. And it isn't because I dislike and can't play turn-based games; I play a lot of Fire Emblem and have experience with old TRPG in the past; but it just causes a lot of frustration when even though I try looking for help from guides or old forum posts, it just either outdated or just isn't true. I just wish things were made easier on new players even with the in-game Guide and the New Tutorial. I remember spending about 300 karmas on Barley seeds due to none being available at all around the starting area and getting enough seeds to make my money back, I logged out and came back to all three plots I planted then on completely emptied (Which I was expecting but still a bit rude.) Again, I enjoy the game due to the art style and style of combat, I just find it frustrating to keep going even if we are about to continue the main quest soon at Level 21.
All valid points! The dungeons are designed to be beaten with more than two people, so try teaming up with others! They're so much fun and very rewarding. Also, consider joining a guild. Not only will the bonuses help you in combat yet others may help you too. 🥰
I wanted to join Wakfu mono server with my kids, who watch the show on Netflix.
Come to find out you can only have 2 people per household/IP. Debating joining a multi account server as one of the reasons I wanted to play was to also play with them.

Dofus is that happy place i keep coming back to and around covid time got back to their mono server and made a great set of friends there ... Unfortunately we subsequently went our separate ways but not turns out the squad is back together on wakfu so i picked it up for the first time and am completely hooked 😂
While i love the community aspect first and foremost and getting back in touch with friends im really loving the maging system (maybe surprisingly) and tokens / daily system which has really got me more engaged in the world. Havent looked into politics etc but love the idea in concept at least

Played the game lastly in like 4 years ago, been playing it since the launch (Yeah I was one of the Ecosystem destroyers/saviors? of the good ol' days), been enjoying this new server "1 character", idk if it is because the updates in the last few years but it is really fun (or was it cuz I had to play controlling 3+ characters at the same time...), the game is really fun rn if you know how to progress.

Unfortunately I lost my ultra detailed comment from last video but in summary I would say y that the game is great, you need to bear with it for the start since it can be a steep learning curve depending on the class you choose and until about 1/3 of your levels you are not going to really experience the true mechanics of the classes.
But if you invest a little tume in it, the game will reward you.

I played Dofus with 8 accounts back in 2010-2015 and looking to return to new Dofus Unity coming next year or start anew in Wakfu. I’m planning to start on a new mono server on Dofus as well but I was thinking of funding my subscription with my old account’s kamas.
How similar/different would you say the two games are? Also which has more active international community?
I unfortunately cannot comment on the differences of the games as my exposure has mostly been to Wakfu. However, based on the little I know, Dofus is of a traditional MMORPG whereas Wakfu leans into sandbox features. In terms of international players, I very frequently play with non-US speakers in Wakfu. I believe Dofus is more popular than Wakfu, so it would not surprise me if their international community is even more robust, although I speculate. 💖

impossible to get into this game. new player experience is horrid and the devs do nothing to make it better and never have. every update is only catered to the max lvl players no thought towards getting new player into game of keeping them in it
I plan to re-explore the newbie experience yet the last time I played I thought it struck a good balance.
