Hi Stewart, Glad I'm not the only crazy one in Aus to make a Atom replica. Great job on yours. Mine is powered by a prelude motor. It also took about 4 years. It will soon get a turbo upgrade. You can see a couple of runs on my channel. Cheers

      Good stuff.
Crazy is a good description to use for takinh on such a huge project. But worth it.
I'm interested seeing a few pics of your atom. Do get to use it for any club events?

The floor/ tub was fabricated out of 2 mil marine grade aluminium and was atached up under the body with stainless steel bolts via a series of steal tabs welded to the frame

It has a Nissan SR20DET from an 1997 Avenir (Japan import). The box is out of an N16 Pulsar (it is a stronger unit than the N14 box) but requires a bell housing from a Sentra out of the USA to allow it to match up with the SR20 block

A fare calculated guess From tallied receipts puts the cost in parts, material, some out sourced fabricating & tuning at around $18500. But I'm sure it must have been closer to $20K. I was living in an industrial complex at the time with a number of generous neighbours giving me a lot of at times free access to tooling & machinery. I did have a few other wins along the way aswell.
The Jap import front cut I bought from Brisbane, I picked up for only $1500. instead of $3K due to the fact that due to a dodgy starter they could test fire the engine in the work shop.
Some of the bigger ticketed items include.
-N16 gearbox (stronger than the N14 to cope with the turbo power out put), custom built with a Sentra bell housing (out of the USA) & a after market locker installed $1850.
-Atom spec coil overs from Nitron out of the UK.. set me back $3500. (but worth it)
Now Probably far more expensive now with exchange rate
-Custom made Titan' steering rack also from the UK (The same mob that supplies the original equipment to Ariel)
-Tilton Pedal box (the same as the Atom) & hydraulic fittings was $1500'ish From Earls Performance out of Sydney
-About !500. for fiberglass supplies from Balina NSW
note; The fiberglass work took about as long as took to build the rest of the car.
-$1200. for frame steel. Same of it was mild steel pipe (to heavy!) mixed with roll cage steel. If I had to do over I would go the expense & stay away from mild steel pipe where possible.
    -Powder coating $!600
I hope this short list helps out some. MY! original costing before starting was around $16K. It's all thew small bits that came get you. And try to do as much fabricating yourself if you need to keep the cost down (or a few generous mate who are in the now)

    Thanks for the comments guys.
I do have a brief case of full of specs sketches, receipts & work shop drawings not to mention an extensive file of in factory photos From both the UK & the USA. showing atoms in all different points of construction.( thanks to the Atom car club web site.) But nothing organised enough to show.
Some companies that could help with important components include
-Titan Motorsport UK steering rack (but you Have TO give them the specs you what for them to make it for you)
-Palatov Motorsport in USA have some interesting input hubs & bell cranks.
www.nitro.com.uk can help with shocks & springs.
Earls Performance Products Australia PtyLtd helped with Tilton pedal box , master cylinder & braided brake plumbing.
www.Atomclub.com has a vast & useful photo library
I know it's not much but I hope it helps. Cheers

The company name is NITRON out of the UK. They produce a number of different spec aftermarket shock & spring packages for the original Atom straight from their web site.
