I know! Eating every 2 hours to keep your metabolism up is so outdated, but you wouldn’t believe the people that still believe this. Every time I try to explain fasting to my family they tell me we should be eating all the time to lose weight 🤷‍♀️ It’s so hard to explain this to them😢

Hey, I personally lost 66 lbs (30 kg) in 8 months. I followed a high fat, low carb diet and ate 5-6 meals a day. It worked very well. If I don’t eat every 2/3 hours, I feel very hungry and weak and it also negatively affects my performance in the gym. Eating every 2/3 hours keeps protein synthesis high, so I guess that is better for people trying to maintain muscle mass while losing weight 🙂

I agree with everything you said‼️I try to tell people I know that are trying to lose weight these things, they won’t listen. I always use real sugar ( just one packet), always use butter, have dessert, etc., real dairy, etc.
And I’ve always been thin. My husband gained 30 pounds when he started drinking Diet Coke. I told him artificial sweeteners cam make you hungry. He lost the weight after stopping it. Plus it tastes awful. Thank you❤

FYI: Your link still works for the 50% off, I just used it. I've been wanting to try matcha so I figured why not. ;)
I want to thank you for your channel, I had an epiphany recently. I haven't always been overweight, I'm 52 now but when I was younger I was a nationally ranked athlete in my sport, I was always a healthy weight. That changed after college when "work life" kicked in. I stopped being active, weight started creeping on, I was eating to stay awake and I had changed how I ate because experts told me I needed to do all the things in this list. Yet my weight ballooned. For almost 20 years I resigned myself to the fact that I was "unlucky" or that I ruined my life and it was game over, just accept your fate. But here's the thing (and the epiphany that I had): when I was healthy I was exhibiting the behaviors you've been talking about in your videos. I naturally was never hungry until lunchtime so I only ate lunch and dinner, I only snacked if I was actively training but that makes sense because I was super active, I walked or biked EVERYWHERE, I was getting tons of sleep, my stress was low. Like, mindblown. My parents cooked healthy meals for us, pizza and soda was a fridays-only treat.
I just hope I can find the courage to walk away from programs like weight watchers and do this on my own. I feel like I'm getting there. I gotta say, their points system is super handy to just keep myself in check to make sure I'm eating enough during 2MAD. I worry it's become a crutch. I want this "life reset" to be the last time I have to lose weight because I want to hopefully undo some of the damage I've done and extend the quality of my life as I age. Plus, I want to compete in my sport again! Apparently old farts like me still compete, game on!

You can calculate the amount of water you need in a day and most people hover around the 2 litre mark. But what people completely miss is that at least half of that already comes from the food you ingest. So you don't want to drink 2 litres outright in this scenario. People just don't understand how the body works

different things work for different people, but maybe you feel hungry more often because you have a low carb diet?

    • @StephonWeightLoss
      @StephonWeightLoss Рік тому

@@mari-wl6py No, I actually feel less hungry with a high fat, low carb diet because high fat keeps me full for longer. Carbs make me more hungry sooner. And I disagree with “different things work for different people”. It is scientifically proven that a high fat, low carb diet is significantly more effective for fat loss than a high carb diet. This is because a high fat, low carb diet has a more positive effect on hormones that stimulate fat loss and this is just how the human body works, so a high fat, low carb diet should technically work for everyone 🙂 The only reason it doesn’t “work” for some people is because they don’t follow the high fat, low carb diet correctly and give up on it too easily and fast, but technically is should work for anyone because it is just how the human body works. Carbs are not effective for weight loss.

I dont know if you're referring to full keto diet, but no, it has not been universally proven to cause people to lose weight due to the way we process calories. You may get better at processing fat but you're also consuming vastly more.
Absolutely the idea of different things for different people is crucial, for so many reasons. People have different genetic predisposition to how they process a number of things, particularly when you consider food sensitivities and the effect inflammation has on weight control. You can have some people thrive on a vegan diet and others feel sick and weak. In addition, there is the practical real life matter of what you can stick to. I've only known a couple people who could stick to keto long-term, and one of those is because they do it in a relative manner (meaning they eat carbs but not as much as your average person and it's based on their activity level, which is very high).

I hear ya on giving up the sweetened coffee creamer. It was really hard for me about 2 years ago when I started IF and needed to not spike my insulin first thing in the morning with my favorite mocha peppermint creamer. So what I started doing, and am still doing but only occasionally now, is add 1/2 tsp of pure dutch processed (dark) cocoa powder for the chocolate flavor as it is almost all fat per the label and a splash of heavy cream. For the peppermint, I add a few drops to taste of peppermint extract. Made it much easier to have my favorite tasting coffee but zero sugar. Hopefully you find yours too if you decide to branch out past your monkfruit strevia cubes.

From what I’ve heard from other UA-camrs, walking is beneficial for losing weight, but you can also lose muscle mass with just cardio

I can't drink water. Only in cases of real thirst ( rarely thirsty) have I got some water and drank some.....but I can never drink more than about half or less of a 500ml bottle ( 500ml=16 fl oz), I always end up throwing it away. On Xmas Eve I'd had takeaway (just a burger on its own) and was really thirsty later as I am not used to anything salty. I did just that and got some water....first couple of mouthfuls were ok then I started struggling to swallow any more. It didn't stop me losing weight anyway as i've lost 90 lbs in 18 months and i'm now close to my ideal weight range for my height. People think I'm mad because i hate water 🤷‍♀🤔

went a couple of days and just wasn’t thinking about lugging that gallon jug of water around with me and realized how much water weights… in or out of your body.
So I drink water, but I don’t bloat myself into a lake Kelley with it every hour. Lol

It was after my dr was like your fine look at the weight you lost since last time and I was like but I haven’t changed one single thing about my every day…..it’s the water isn’t it?
I’m not a categorized obese, I simply have a rare autoimmune condition that mimics hypothyroidism so the weight was a flare up symptom. But it was a lie… it was too much water

I'm a 61 year old female and I never drink water. Hate the stuff and even very occasionally when I am thirsty ( being thirsty is rare for me) I can only drink a couple of mouthfuls or so from a 500ml bottle(16 oz) then the rest goes down the sink. I've lost 90 lbs in the last 18 months so it did not hinder me at all, despite the claims that you should drink water. I just can't.

I mean, I believe the evidence shows that artificial sweetners are better for you than refined sugars. Not that they are healthy on their own. I mean, if you are going to use sugars, sweetners are a great option for weight loss, but of course you are better off with neither. And smaller plates/less calories in will absolutely help you lose weight. But good video overall. I had someone argue with me that men have an easier time taking weight off than women at the gym... but I argued that it isn't our bodies per se, but the way each gender typically exercises at the gym. A focus on cardio and not building muscle through hypertrophy is definitely not the way to go for either sex.

Yes, that could be true regarding the differences in exercise preference. I think more and more women are now becoming interested in strength and resistance training, which is great! But I do still have to disagree on the smaller plate size point - it maintains the emphasis purely on calories and not on satiety and meal quality. If satiety is the focus, the "smaller plate" becomes an unnecessary tool.

Many years ago, I tried just about every single one of these.
I still do get low-fat options of some things if it's going to be put onto another food that could rapidly turn into a calorie bomb.
I swear by artificial sweeteners over regular sugar. And most studies casting doubt on them are poorly modeled and actually are sponsored by the sugar industry...which doesn't automatically mean it's bullshit, but you should add a layer of scrutiny.
Many apologies as I know it's one of your things, intermittent fasting was the absolute worst weight loss trend I ever tried. Granted I tried it over 10 years ago so maybe there have since been refinements since then. But there was no other diet tip I tried where I rebounded and packed on weight faster than when I tried intermittent fasting for a year.
When I did finally find something that worked, I focused on higher protein. Especially choosing things that had higher protein alternatives. Getting most of any sugar cravings from low calorie dense fruits like strawberries or watermelon. You can literally never eat so much watermelon that you'll put on weight. It will stuff you before you get close to 500 calories.
Fiber intake doubled helped a ton too. I was not eating nearly enough. Getting that on point really helped with weight and cholesterol numbers.
Finally, calorie tracking. Strict at first just to visualize what I was eating and all that. Once I got a good idea of what I was consuming, I only really look up foods I haven't encountered.
The biggest tip is working out (cardio and weights) 2 hours a day, 5 days a week. I went from 400 lbs and 40-ish% bodyfat to 238 lbs at 12% bodyfat.
It's a lot easier to fix occasional food slip-ups when you have your basal metabolic rate amped through the roof.

What about PREGNANCY? Can I still stick to 3 meals a day and some form of intermittent fasting? Even if it’s 12-14 hours?

    • @boblangford5514
      @boblangford5514 Рік тому +1

I would think so. Just don’t try to go too hard too fast. Don’t switch from a 16 hour eating window to a 4 hour window. A 12-14 hour fast during pregnancy should be perfectly fine as long as you are eating healthy.

When I get a craving for high carb sweets I pop open a monster ultra,
Next to no calories and kills my craving. I try to nurse it with just a sip every ten or fifteen minutes.
The interesting thing is after doing this for a couple of weeks, even if I do break down and buy the candy bar that I do craved, I don’t find it all that sweet and tasty when compared with my monster drinks.
After a while I stopped buying random sweets and just give myself a monster kick when I need it….
