  • Grandpa Amu uses the principle of Luban lock to create tables and stools, which can be freely disassembled and assembled, easy to carry when going out, and retro at home. Friends who like it can learn to make one and feel the charm of mortise and tenon.
Life is full of flavors, life needs to laugh right!

Growing up Grandpa Amu, I often wonder about the boy that became the man and seeing your grandson and the wonder and joy that he has in his eyes and the happiness that you hold inside where does it come from and yet like a river it flows in you. My Grandfather was a farmer and a wood worker and I always loved to watch him work. He said to me you can't teach an old dog new tricks and I wondered why? Today as I watched your video I discovered how to never be an old dog, it is not about the dog it is about the way you think and Grandpa Amy, your mind will always stay young and filled with wonder. Thank you for the happiness you share.

The skills you have are not just special in that they are fun to watch you create. They are the skills that will help people survive should we ever loose power for any length of time. Please, teach the next generation what you know. Don't let these valuable lessons end with you. I would love to be your apprentice if it were possible. I promise there are many that would also love the opportunity to study under you. Give that gift to someone.

    这可能是我见过的最重要的木工技能。 我很谦卑地看到一个工匠跟随鲁班的脚步,并渴望跟随那些脚步。 谢谢阿木爷爷。
This may be the most important woodworking skill I have seen. I am humbled to watch a craftsman who walks in the footsteps of Lu Ban and eager to follow in those footsteps. Thank you Grandpa Amu.

Many people are asking about the type of wood, but I see no replies. It looks like padauk, but seems the availability of it where he is would not be common. Plus he uses huge pieces of it. I work with padauk, one of my favorite woods, but it's pretty expensive. I've never seen a 6 or 8 inch block like uses. The sawdust is very toxic (although the wood itself is stable and causes no harm), and he uses so much of it in close quarter and fine detail (watch his video where he builds a fire engine from a solid block) and never wears any dust protection. Maybe it's not padauk, but I don't know of any other wood that looks like that. He should wear a dust mask.
