It's all really just going to depend on how you want it to perform.
If you are just wanting to mess with colors and etc, then id find a video or still image that you are familiar with and tweak while looking at it until you get what you like. Then make sure it still looks good on everything else.
if you want to make sure your cropping and etc is how you want it, id look into a test pattern from something like 240p test suite or i think there is even a testing video on netflix you could use. something to see how the picture is cut off and if any solid lines are warped, things like that.
And if you want to do any fun PC specific stuff like overlocking it or etc, look into the diplay drivers your graphics card has like nvidia control panel.
