1. Failing to Think Critically: When you're a new nurse, it's easy to focus solely on tasks that need to be completed. Instead, you have to force yourself to think critically, as I describe in this video.
2. Social Media Problems: A common mistake that new nurses make is posting sensitive patient information on social media. Remember, we have HIPAA and other privacy laws that we must obey. In addition, many nurses post too often on social media during a shift, which can affect patient care.
3. Time Management Problems: It can be a real challenge to complete all of your tasks as a new nurse, and if you don't take time to learn how to perform your tasks more efficiently, things will only get worse.

4. Getting Caught Up In Gossip, Cliques, or Drama: It's only a matter of time before people try to win you over to their clique, or a coworker may begin to gossip about another coworker. It's best to avoid politics on your nursing unit and treat everyone with respect.
5. Putting Too Much on Your Plate: Even though you're so excited to begin working as a nurse and to start earning a paycheck, you have to be careful to avoid burnout. I'd recommend that you pace yourself and avoid piling on too many extra shifts, especially during your first 6-12 months.

Choose your first job well. Aim for highest acuity because you can go high to low easier than low to high acuity.

Hi good morning mam . Thanks for your great work as encouraging nurses. I am also a PBBsc. Nurse in India. I have faced so many problems being honest with my work. In india nowadays no value for good worker.
Thanks for sharing this video
Hey Sarah! I'm Abagail and I've just started yesterday as a New Grad RN in Australia. I am already so stressed out because I realised how little I know about everything. Will my critical thinking skills develop over my time at the hospital? I feel as though I'm not critically thinking so much at the moment because I am really trying to get into the groove of things
Hello Abagail, I started less than seven months ago as a new nurse and can only say it will get better with time. It took a while (still taking a while) to feel confident and critically think. I do make mistakes here and there but one thing that has helped me is being vocal about my strengths and weaknesses. If someone ask me do I need help, I will be honest and tell the truth that I need help. Don't let yourself drown in tasks, med passes, procedures, and etcetera if you know you are struggling. It helps if your unit is supportive which will make the learning experience even better. If you have a question or an inkling about something, ask for help. I do it constantly especially when I'm not sure. Critical thinking will take time and it is still something that even nurses with two years under their belts are still learning. All the best and just hang in there.
Hi, I'm a new grad looking for a job. All the areas I'm interested in are home health, maternity, wound care, and forensic nursing.Would you recommend going to med surg first? Or starting off right in home health or maternity. Thanks!
Very beautiful

I’m a nursing student now, and each shift I go through all the patients medications and make sure it makes sense. However, I feel like I lose time. Any advice?
Taylor Bellsi hi taylor, I am a student nurse, as well. The way that my program is designed we have two days/week we are in theory and three days/week we are in clinical. On Wednesday we go to theory and then we had to the hospital where we select patients based (hopefully) on something we can apply our theory portion to (i.e if we are covering respiratory complications, try to select a patient with a respiratory disease). I am unsure how your program is designed and set up, if this is even possible for you, but I research out my patient in full the night before I work with them. I go over the medications in depth so that I can connect why my patient is taking the medication (because, as you've probably found, it's not always clear in the patients chart...esp if the patient is taking a medication more commonly used for diseases or disorders the patient doesn't have). This saves me a ton of time! If you're unable to do patient prep ahead of time, try to bear through it and work on time management. I have found that as I've become more familiar with medications, through exposure to them, it's gotten easier for me to figure out why a patient is taking it. Best of luck!
This comes with time, ask coworkers what common medications are on the unit you work, research them. The more you research the more you know. You will eventually get to know the most common meds..and it will take less time to research. Good luck!
Taylor Bellsi as time goes on it gets faster. It is expected new nurses will be slower and take longer.
Thank you both!
so sweet

How can a nurse be able to handle when they absorb others emotions ? Empath person..
Hi Cari! Idk if you'll see this but practicing self-care and de-briefing can really help. Show empathy and compassion to others and honor yourself by taking a break and not overextending yourself.
Hi mam 👋 this great ?
Can Associat Degree Nurse give NCLEX exam please let me know if possible .
Omg best video ever
I'm about to start my first job as a new grad and I'm terrified! I feel as if I'm not ready and I'm going to be putting others at risk as well as my own license due to simple mistakes that an RN shouldn't make. Can anyone help ease my anxiety or give me any tips to help me start out? I don't have very much experience in healthcare as I've only worked as a residential assistant for one year and that was a couple of years ago!
Gabriel hey! Have you started your job yet? Would love to hear how you’re doing! 😊 Btw it DOES get easier!
Hello,@@thesunnyedge
Thank you for the encouraging words! The first month of my new job has been hectic. I'm sure it's hectic for most, so it's just something I need to take step by step and learn as much as possible. For anyone else reading this that is just graduating or starting a new job as an RN, I recommend taking it day by day and take every learning opportunity that is available! Try to limit the self doubt as much as possible, because that factors into the care your giving. :)
Gabriel good advice!
By the time I am a new grad you will have a year of experience under your belt. You feeling that way before you started gives me hope 😭
@@GabrielGabe-zu6gx hello,I have just started my work as new graduate.thanks for your advice 🙏
Wow💕💕💕💕
Hello, I'm a new graduate nurse n started working since last week.I feel like I'm the most stupid person and came to realise all my lack of skills in practical.😭Any tips to improve my confidence and skills?
Everything is about time management here they want you to do everything as fast as possible. They don't care about critical thinking. They don't care about consequences of certain meds or actions. They oversee alot of things They don't want to care about the patient in a holistic way. They consider their job as any other office job. "I am here for the Damn money only." Human life doesn't matter to them. How heartless and disappointing
How can we get admission in bsn guide me
🥰🧥👚💕Mashallah 🙊💕💕💕💕🙏🙏🙏😭
