Master Your Golf Mental Routine To Find Your Swing

  • Preparation involves two basic tasks that are essential if you want to enjoy your golf. One of which is practicing effectively so that you're preparing yourself for playing on the golf course. This involves hitting to different targets while not overloading your brain with swing mechanics (or golf swing tips).
The second necessary for being prepared on the golf course is your ability to block out all distractions … which in turn lowers your anxiety. Because the more your anxiety rises … the less you'll be able to allow the skills you developed (in your practice time) to shine through the muscle and brain tension that anxiety creates in your golf swing.
For example - when a Golfer's on the 7th hole tee box knowing that they have a chance to shoot their lowest 9 hole score ever if they play well these next 3 holes… does Anxiety usually get lower, stay the same, or does it rise? For most Golfers … their level of Anxiety is represented by the Double Bogey they made on #7 that "ruined my round!"
And that disappointing Double Bogey often raises the Golfer's anxiety even higher on the next tee box!
Your Anxiety and your scores are a team - when one rises … so does the other. Yet, the good news is that the opposite is also true. When you learn how to lower your Anxiousness … you can more consistently swing the golf club to the level you know you're capable of!

This is 100X more useful than the vast majority of videos on youtube. Most are so ball focused and it's killing them. It's not what folks want to hear, but it is what folks need to hear. Love your channel.

I play golf with my father and a friend of his, and the two of them are both in their late 70's. After playing with them several times, it suddenly occurred to me that this friend of my dad's hit the ball as though he didn't care where it went. His swing was loose, easy and smooth and he didn't look like he was working very hard at all, in fact he didn't even look interested lol. This was the moment that I realized I was WAY too tense and I needed to make a drastic change in my thinking and my swing. It is remarkably difficult to convince yourself to stop trying so hard because it's such a 'reflex'. But I swear to you, the slower I swing and the looser I am with my body, the better I play.

I play with two main people. My best friend who breaks 80s consistently, and my cousin whom I stared golfing with. When I play with my cousin I do 200% better. I've broke 80 before. We're drinking beer, joking, smoking and having a blast. With my friend I'm much more competitive and I blow it. You've gotten lessons, you know the right posture and swing, but your own damn mind is keeping you from killing it and wanting to kill yourself. I'm so guilty of this. My ADD goes apeshit and I freak out. I'm tense as a board and rather than that fluid snap, I'm rigid and trying to kill it.

Your issues mirrors mine identically. I had buddies I used to always played with and we had fun but I moved away for a job about 3 years ago. I decided to join a golf club close to my new home with the idea of meeting some people but since everyone is so damn serious about their golf game, it has sucked all the fun out of it for me. Now, I struggle every time I play…I literally have fairly severe anxiety when I’m on the tee box. After that I tend to calm down but it really sucks. I was an 11 and I’m creeping up to a 13 now. It’s debilitating.

The last two seconds I realised I had no shoes on. Put totally right and I’m glad I watch this anxiety needs to be low for me to do well that day. Sometimes I wait in the car park for people to leave the driving range but other days I walk in straight away And hit them really well

Absolutely wonderful video for the average golfer...I had no idea to correlate anxiety and skill together. I played this course two weeks ago and had more anxiety than skill.

This also explains why you say when you are relaxed, you play better

the best players actually need anxiety to play play they channel that energy to get into the zone
