@@mexifoodlover It’s caused by atmospheric refraction unrelated to pollution. Pollution could affect the sun colors but usually in a negative way (as in how it looks in the smoke of wildfires). What causes these types of sunsets are:
- The sun has more colors present at sunrise and sunset
- The atmosphere refracts solar radiation
- Longer wavelength colors tend to be closest to the horizon

The best part about sunset in Oceanside is that everyone stops what they're doing to stare in wonder. Cars even stop to witness it. I've seen sunsets on Santorini; Oceanside is just as good.
San Diego sunsets are unparalleled. Truly beautiful. Sometimes scary and apocalyptic looking, like something out of a dream.

Love living Oceanside, no place better! Weather is the best all year long & the citizens of Oceanside are the kindest, friendliest people. Being a Military Town is very educational for our youth & we are very lucky to have all the soldiers honor our city with their service.

woah, so this is what my parent experienced.. they always tell me about their stories and how they always use to go on beach walks and how beautiful oceanside is. sadly they moved and had me in chicago but really nice seeing how oceanside is:,)
me and my wife are in chicago now cuz she in the navy so its temporary thank god. california is beautiful there really is no other state like it besides hawaii and i lived in hawaii, cali, georgia and now illinois. nothing beats cali. the midwest and eastcoast states are too boring with not much to see or do for our taste. possiblities are endless in Socal. you can be at the beach and then drive 40min-1 hr east and be in the desert but nothing but scenery everywhere!

Beach pier 👍🏼👍
My high school graduation was at the beach stadium. Lived on Pacific Street in the late 50s and on the Strand in the early 60s. The pier was longer then. There was a game arcade with bumper cars where that new condo tower is being built. The old pier had public kitchens underneath with gas stoves and sinks. Spent a lot of time fishing all day from the pier, and had several family picnics where we'd cook the fish down there. I think you had to ask someone to turn on the gas for you, but everything worked and we had the place to ourselves many times. After the end of the Vietnam war, Oceanside took a dive and the whole vibe changed. Still, if I could afford to move back, I would. Every city has problems, but there are people who care about them and work to solve them.
